Meredith spent the whole night thinking about the last day's events. She didn't expect to see him again. She definitely didn't expect him to be her best friend's brother. Sure, she liked him, he was charming and easy to talk to, and he was good in bed, really good, maybe the best she's ever had but he never thought she'd have to see him again, and she'd never in her life imagine that he'd turn out to be Amelia's brother, which is what made the things so complicated. Amelia did say that it was okay but she couldn't help but think if it wasn't. She was sure their friendship was strong enough to survive this, an accidental one-night stand with her brother wouldn't end the special bond they had, but what if there was more. What if she wanted more than just a one-night stand. She cursed herself for thinking about him that way. They knew each other for less than 24 hours and she couldn't let some stupid crush or whatever it was ruin her relationship with her favorite and most reliable person. To help her situation, she reminded herself that before, she thought of him as an egotistical, arrogant person. That didn't help at all, because the guy he met a few hours earlier was nice and sweet, not to mention his smile and ocean blue eyes. God, she couldn't think like that, nothing could ever happen between them. But her mind wouldn't let her think about something else, he had occupied her thoughts and she hated him for that, at least she tried to.

Meredith got up from the bed as soon as the sun rose. She couldn't stand staying in bed any longer. She made some coffee and busied herself with a book, except she couldn't focus on it and gave up soon. She was the most badass world-class general and neurosurgeon and all she could think about was some guy, not to mention that guy being her best friend's brother. She then went to shower, put on her clothes and went to the cafe where she was supposed to meet Amelia. She had never in her life been this nervous, not even at her board exams. She entered the cafe, noticing Amelia sitting by the window. She hesitantly walked to her and sat down.

"Hey," she said trying to keep it cool.
"Hey" Amelia answered smiling, noticing how nervous she was, trying to suppress a laugh.
"Is it funny for you that I'm struggling?" Meredith noticed her good mood and went along with it.
"Very" Amelia smiled brightly, trying to show her that everything was okay between them.
Meredith smiled back. There both were silent for a moment, until Amelia decided to break it.
"Listen, Mer, you and Derek are two of my favorite people on the entire planet. You're my family, a real family. Sure I have my mother and my sisters, and our friends back in Seattle but you and Derek are my real family, a part of my heart. I love you and you accidentally sleeping with my brother doesn't change the love I have for you. And if someday you decide, that it was more than just an accidental one-night stand I fully support that too." She said the last part with a smirk, trying to see what Meredith thought about it.
Mer was smiling during Amelia's speech but the last part left her wide-eyed and confused.
"Amelia I don't... We... I..." She rambled.
Amelia couldn't help but laugh. "You know your rambling's my favorite trait of you."
"Uh, shut up" Meredith smiled back. It felt nice to know she had her by her side no matter what.
"Mer, seriously, I remember everything you told me about him before you found out who he was, and what you said and how you reacted when you saw him showed me that you're not indifferent towards him. You'll have to see him a lot in the next few days since we're spending the holidays at mom's, so I'd understand if you'd catch feelings or something as you get to know him. And I'm not saying you have to come with me, I'm just asking you to because I need you by my side, I won't survive otherwise."

"Of course, I'll go with you, I'm not letting you spend the holidays with the wolves alone. And I'm not planning on catching feelings for him, I'm not really someone who believes in love and all that, remember?"
"Okay, but I just wanted you to know that whatever happens, we'll be okay. You have been there for me in my darkest times and I'll support you in anything. Just know that."
"Thank you. I love you, Amy."
"I love you too, Mer."
They both sat there teary-eyed, amazed by how much they meant for each other, acknowledging the fact that they had found their person, their best friend for life.

"Hi, what can I get you?" the waitress asked as she approached them.
"Latte and a croissant, please," Amelia told her.
"Same for me" Meredith thanked her and they were left alone for a few more minutes.
They enjoyed their coffee and croissants and left the cafe, heading to Carolyn's house. Meredith felt much better now, knowing everything was alright between her and Amelia. And this time, she let all the guilt go, and even let herself think about what it would be like to meet Derek again. Thought of him brought a smile to her lips.
