The day had ended quite
uneventfully, they had eaten
together and Jisung had rested
like Minho had wanted him to.

And for the first night in months
the younger slept peacefully.

The way the ravenette had
tugged him in like a mother
would to her child,
how he had smiled at him
before wishing him
wonderful dreams.

Jisung had fallen asleep with
the picture of the stars shining
on the night sky in his mind just
like he had watched them before
his eyes had eventually fallen
close when exhaustion
had taken over him.

He had heard the crickets chirp
outside and he had smelled the
soft scent of nature as he fell asleep,
this felt so new to him.

But he liked it.

So this is what people called healing.

And also his body was really happy
to sleep on such a soft mattress in
a real bed instead of a little couch,
for once everything felt good.

That night Jisung fell asleep with
a soft smile on his face.

But Minho hadn't been able to
get any rest so he did what he
always did when he couldn't sleep.

He knitted or baked something.

Nighttime was his creative phase
so he often used those peaceful
hours to try new creations before
the new day would start.

Jisung had told him about his love
for cheesecake so why not try to make
something to surprise the younger?

It had been 3:21 am when Minho
went to bed after preparing a
banana split cheesecake and
writing down a few new bread
recipe ideas he'd try the next
day but he already knew that
he'd be dead tired tomorrow.

A baker's day started early after
all if customers wanted freshly
baked treats at 7:30 am already.

When Jisung woke up the sun was
already shining and tickling his nose,
making him sneeze cutely.

He had slept long,
longer than he normally
would and he felt very well-rested
much to his surprise.

Minho was nowhere to be
found when the boy left his
room but the mouthwatering
scent of fresh bread and egg
filled his nose until his gaze
fell on the lonely breakfast
on the small kitchen table.

Jisung waddled over and
took a seat before he also
noticed the little note on the
glass of orange juice.

'Enjoy your breakfast and just
put the dirty dishes in the sink,
I'll take care of it later.
I'm downstairs in the bakery,
come down when you're finished
but be careful with the stairs :)
~Minho'

The older knew how horrible
the stairs of the old house were,
especially for pregnant people
going downstairs.

And it didn't hurt to remind
the boy to be careful,
better be safe than sorry.

Minho's breakfast was like a
gentle breeze on a hot beach day,
like the sound of water flowing
down a little stream, like a good
song after a long exhausting day.

There wasn't an exact way
to describe the dream Jisung's
taste buds were living but at
some point the boy hoped that
his plate would never get empty
and his stomach never full.

Minho's cooking was amazing,
not only his baking.

And he didn't only think like
that because he hadn't eaten
homemade meals in months,
he thought like that because
it was the truth.

Even a simple dish like eggs
and bread made him feel like
he had just eaten in a fancy
expensive restaurant.

A soft pout found its way on
Jisung's face when his plate
was empty already but he made
himself a mental note to thank
Minho for the amazing meal and
brought his used tableware over
to the sink like the older had
told him to.

And with a full stomach and
a happy and quiet baby the
boy made his way downstairs,
carefully like Minho had
told him to.
