First Encounter

Chapter 15

They all turned around.

Kari noticed all of the people in the store. There was about 50 or so people all dressed in green jumpsuits.

There was one guy behind them with a smirk on his face. He had a green vest with an 'H' on the breast. 'He must be the leader!' She thought.

"Who are you?" Kari said. The guy just chuckled. "Don't you laugh. Answer me!"

"Oh dear! You have a temper!" He chuckled again. "I think you have heard of us." He pointed at his 'H' symbol. "We are people who want to reclaim the Earth! We want to cleanse this planet of filthy NH's! Clearly, our job is far from over if NH's are just setting up businesses and acting like an average joe. The Hunter's will destroy all of you. You will no longer be a threat to us!" The guy had an angry look on his face.

"Oh my god. You're really convinced that we are just here to hurt you!" Kari said. "You honestly can't believe that we are just trying to live here in peace!"

"Please! If you want peace, find it on your own planet! This one's ours!" The guy said.

"Your family was killed by an NH. Isn't that right?" Milo said. The guy flinched.

"Is that one of your Magical powers?! Going into someone's mind and invading their privacy!" The guy said, more angry. "Well, since you already know, yes! They were killed by a Vampire! I swore that when I got strong enough, I would make sure that never happened to anyone ever again!" He pulled out a long blue dagger. "I swore that I would eradicate all you scum from this planet!" He turned to his subordinates. "Attack them!"

The people wearing the jumpsuits attacked the five. Zing told Rob to stand back. Rob nodded and went back.

The subordinates attack was ruthless. Kari punched and kicked all of them and knocked them down. But no matter how many times she tried to hit them, they just got back up again.

"Why aren't they staying down?!" Kari said, throwing one jumpsuit guy across the room.

The guy with the vest laughed. "That's our number one trick! Who else to fight people who are stronger then people who never get tired!"

"What did you do to them?!" Kari yelled. She had noticed that the people attacking had all the same blank look on their faces.

"They are our secret weapon!" The guy laughed again. "But since you're going to die anyway, I'll tell you!" He snapped his fingers and the jumpsuit people stopped. He walked up to one and stabbed them. The person didn't even react. And when the guy pulled his dagger out, there was no blood. "They are the dead."

Kari's blood ran cold. "You... Brought the dead back to life?" Kari couldn't believe it. "That is forbidden Magic. Who did this?" She was beyond angry. She couldn't allow the person who did this to get away with it.

"They are the dead. But their souls have moved into the beyond. It's only their bodies that live passed death. Like Zombies, except no rotting and no blood. They are known as The Soulless." The guy said.

"That's still forbidden. Once the person is dead, their bodies must stay buried. You shouldn't disturb the dead!" Kari said.

"Oh well, seems we have touched a nerve. You might consider it forbidden, but my Master considers it an advantage for us." The guy said.

"Master? Who is your Master?!" Kari demanded.

"That, you will never find out." He snapped his fingers again. The Soulless attacked once again. Kari didn't hesitate to fight back. She kicked the Soulless out of her way. She wanted to take down the leader first.
