~Chapter nine~

"You lied." I said looking up at him.

"I don't see you in my shadows." I continued.

He let out a sigh and glanced up at the lake in front of us.

"Why aren't you coming back? Why can I only see you in my dreams?" I asked him in a whisper.

"Do you want to see me?" he questioned.

I paused. "I don't know." I replied.

"It's different with you. I know the consequences yet I still want to be here with you." I told him.

"We will never be what you want, yeona. Not in this life and not in your next."

My heart broke at his words. It was the truth but I wish he lied.

"We're forbidden." he said and stood up.

I tilted my head up and stared up at his beautiful face as he glanced down at me.

"And I'm not taking you with me."

My brows furrowed. "Where are you go-"

"You will forget about me, yeona." he said staring into my soul. His eyes flashed an emerald green.

I stood up and grabbed his hand.

"You can't compel me! I..it didn't work last time!" I exclaimed.

He stepped out of my grip.

"You're making it harder for yourself." he said to me.

I felt a tear run down my face.

"D..don't! Just don't leave me." I pleaded.

"I want to meet you in my next life." he said, caressing my cheek.

I leaned into his touch.

I felt his cold lips press against my forehead.

"Goodbye, yeona." he whispered.

My eyes suddenly shot open.

"It was a dream." Hyungwon said from beside me.

I wasn't at the lake, instead, I was on Hyungwon's bed.

I was breathing heavy and I could feel the beads of sweat running down my forehead.

I dreamt of him... Again.

I suddenly wrapped my arms around Hyung's neck and hugged him.

He hugged me back. "I'm here, yeona. I'll always be." he mumbled into my shoulder.

"Have your dreams come back?" he asked.

I shook my head.

A few years ago I used to get these nightmares and they always included this anonymous vampire. I never knew who he was or what he looked like.

I wouldn't call them nightmares. They were just dreams. He never harmed me in them, but they destroyed me mentally.

When I met Hyungwon he comforted me. Since vampires never slept he would stay beside me till I fell asleep. After that, those dreams stopped and I never saw him in my dreams.

I've always wanted to know what he looked like and why I dreamt of him.

I wondered if they weren't dreams and that I was told to think of them as one.

This was different.

The vampire in my dreams now was Jin.

I could see his face. I could feel him.
