C H A P T E R 40

Zach's POV:

Nasa office ako ngayon, maagang ipinatawag ng sekretarya kong si Ron dahil may kinakailangan daw akong pirmahan. I rushed to my office and left Avani with a note after making some food for her to eat.

On my way to the office, I saw my father in law's number on the phone screen. I took the call and his ever demanding voice greeted me. "What happened last night?" he asked making me nervous all of a sudden. Who knows? Baka may ipinadala siyang tao para mag-bantay sa labas ng bahay ko tapos nag-romansa pa kami sa balcony kagabi.

"Good morning sir. She saw the room she's curious about," I replied while entering the building's parking lot. I heard him sigh, "Is she fine?" pagtanong niya. Last night, pagkatapos kong lumabas ng pinto at nagpaalam na maliligo, guilt took all of my system.

Gusto kong sabihin sa kaniya na may laman talaga ang kwartong iyon before pero plinano lahat ng ama niya na ilipat ang mga laman sa kwartong katabi nito para itago ang katotohanang nagdulot ng trahedya sa kaniya dati at maaaring mangyari din ngayon.

"She's fine sir. Nalungkot daw siya kasi may 'something interesting' siyang ini-expect doon pero wala naman pala." I heard him sigh again as if he's guilty about what he did to his own and only daughter, for keeping secrets from her when he knew that she will be angry at him when time comes.

"I did the right thing, right Zach?" tanong niya. "Yes sir. Your love for your daughter made you do it. If the same thing happened to my daughter Stella, I would do the same thing para sa kaligtasan ng anak ko," sambit ko at nag-park na ng sasakyan.

"Salamat Zach at naiintindihan mo ako. Have a good day ahead, son." He bid his goodbye and ended the call leaving me dumbfounded. "Did he just called me son?" I asked myself a billion times while heading up to my office. "He did call me son!" I yelled that made my employees look at me curiously.

I greeted them, "Good morning!" with such enthusiasm and made them wonder because it's the first time I've ever told them that with a smile on my face. Dahil doon, I had a great morning at nagawa ko ang mga paperworks sa office na may ngiti sa labi. It's the first time he called me son kaya achievement iyon para sa akin.

Lunch time came and I was having it in my office with Ron nang may tumunog na unusual sa phone ko. It's an alarm na sign na may nangyayaring hindi kaaya-aya sa bahay ko and to be specific, may pumasok sa isang locked na pinto sa bahay. I quickly rushed to my PC's monitor para tignan ang CCTV footage sa bahay and I was right, may hinahalungkat si Avani sa harapan ng pink na pintuan.

Nakatutok lang ang mga mata ko sa monitor at kinakapa ang phone ko kung nasaan dahil kinakabahan na ako ng sobra. "May problema ba boss?" Ron asked. "Iabot m-mo sakin ang p-phone ko dali," I implied stuttering at buti nalang at wala na siyang madami pang tanong at dali-daling inabot ang telepono ko.

I browsed through my contacts and searched for Anthony's name dahil kailangan ko talaga ang tulong niya at the moment. "Dude come on, pick it up," I chanted nonstop while both eyes ay binabantayan ang bawat galaw ni Avani and for Pete's sake! Pinasok niya na ang kwarto.

"Yes dude?" he greeted on the phone. "Dude, emergency 'to. Pahiram ako ng chopper mo please," I cut his words off with my rattling voice and went to get out my office at si Ron naman ay naaalarma. "Sure, where you at?" he asked for my location after hearing a slamming of the door.

"MediCure's main building, thank you," I ended the call and went to quickly get my coat and suitcase. "Ron, ikaw na muna ang bahala. You know the drill." I rushed to the rooftop and thankfully, my friend Anthony is a good pilot therefore it only took few minutes before he reached the building where I'm at.
