Chapter Two

"How the hell did you do that?" The woman flicks her wrist to the side and I slam against the wall beside her. She has a thick accent that I think is something like Spanish. Now that I am so close to her I am able to see the tremendous detail in her face, there are almost no blemishes. Her cheekbone is sharp and her eyes are like daggers sticking into mine. On the left side of her, face she has a tattoo of a black snake, it slithers in spot impossibly.

"I just did, it's not like you were doing anything to stop it."

"I am the only one who can do that!" She snaps.

"Looks like you got some competition then." I smirk, that was a mistake.

"I can kill you with a look; it's a good thing for you that you're useful to me." She pushes me back to Brian.

I feel like giving her the finger but that probably would not be the best idea. I hold onto Brian's hand and I don't think I will ever get tired of the warmth of life in it. "So are you gonna give us some answers or what?"

"Calm down, Harry Potter." She snaps.

Very funny, 'The Boy Who Lived'. I think to myself.

"I will be back with the rest of the subjects and then I will explain. I really hate saying things twice."

"Subjects, is that what you call us? Subjects, like lab rats." Chip pipes up.

"You make it sound so harsh." She sighs. "Think of it as an opportunity to explore your powers!"

"I think I'd rather think of it as prison." Chip glares.

"Oh, darling, prison would be like heaven compared to here."

Chip stops talking and lets her continue.

"I will be back in a few minutes with the rest of the subjects and then I will explain the things I wish to explain." She spins around and leaves, Tyler and the other boy trailing not far behind her.

Once the room is once again dark, Brian, Chip and I slump against the wall. Still holding onto Brian's hand I turn to Chip. "How did I do that?"

"You're one of the three children of Enissis Calaman. You're a Posseïdor d'un gran poder." He says the words slowly to pronounce them correctly.

  "A what?" I question.

"It means holder of great power in Catalan." He pushes his glasses up with a finger.

"Oh." I say and ponder the thought. "So who are the other two?"

"Dr. Ruth Kellerman and Lucifer Calder."

  "Who are they?" I ask.

"If I am correct Dr. Ruth Kellerman is the woman who was just in here and Lucifer is one of the other subjects or a guard like Tyler."

"Wait, how did you know his name?"

"I'm The Brain, remember?" He winks at me.

"I almost forgot." I give him a slight smile.

The door opens again and this time twenty-two teenagers are thrown into the room; I spot my sister right away. They make no eye contact with me at all; they just stare at the unadorned ground as they form a line on the other side of the room. "These are the people you will be pitted against. After the first experiment, five of you will be dead and only twenty of you will be alive. Your first analysis will begin in a few hours, but we have to do some tests first. I would like ten of you to come with me, ten of you to go with James and five of you to go with Tyler." Tyler rounds up five people and so does James. The ten people that are left are Brian, my sister, and a stubby kid; he cannot be more that thirteen. A short girl with beach blond hair and icy eyes. A tall boy with long back bangs draping over his left eye, a boy with bright red hair and freckles all over his face and a boy with red, fiery eyes who looked like he could be the sun of Satan, last is myself. I find my way over to Brian and latch onto his hand.  "Okay so you ten will come with me." The woman says. "Oh and my name is Dr. Kellerman, but you can call me Ruth if that makes you feel more at home."
