Alpha narrowed his slanted yellow eyes at the core scanner.

Stupid piece of scrap.

It never worked properly.

The Zeron let out a low growl of frustration.

How in Gaylen's name was he supposed to track down his bounty with tech that didn't work?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What was wrong with you?

He had lied to you, betrayed your trust, and most of all, he was an alien.

An ALIEN.

The ones who killed your parents.

You wanted to kill him.

Right then and there.

And yet, you didn't.

You wanted to drag him back to Area 49b.

But you knew what the Colonel would do to him.

You looked down at Krel's unconscious form.

And you walked away.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He was just about to throw the scanner across the room when it let out a small tone.

Finally. It was working.

Alpha looked down at the device, frowning.

He may have spoken too soon.

The screen showed... Half a core?

That was purple? Walking away from a full one?

He smacked it with his palm a few times.

The same image.

Stupid broken tech.

Then again...

Maybe it wasn't an error.

He grinned.

Looked like the hunt was back on.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You were an hour into the forest when you realized.

You'd left so fast you'd forgotten your bike, and you sure as hell weren't going back to get it.

Man, today sucked.

You stumbled over a lump in the ground.

Stupid uneven ground.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The scanner let out another tone, indicating proximity to the target.

Alpha waited, crouched on one of the higher branches of a tree.

There.

The bounty hunter watched the girl as she made her way through the woods.

Hmm.

She was unarmed.

And, judging from her disposition, had just been in a fight.

He leapt down from his branch, and landed with a soft thud behind her on the forest floor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thud.

You whipped around, your (h/c) hair flying.

One of the aliens you'd seen at the campfire stood before you.

It had an almost canine face, which kind of looked like Anubis.

Its bright, almost glowing yellow eyes were narrowed, and though it was hard to see it through its metal mask, it almost looked like it was grinning.

It had a strange, half-circle shaped weapon with a glowing blade strapped to its hip, and a strange flat pad-like item in its right hand.

You grabbed a nearby stick, raising it in front of you while taking a defensive stance.

It chuckled.

"You expect to defend yourself with that?"

It had a deep, rough voice, with an arrogant air to it.

You frowned.

"What do you want?"

It ignored your question and moved closer, its eyes scanning you.

You lifted the stick.

"I asked you a question, alien. Answer me."

It started fiddling with the pad, but then lifted its gaze for a second to chuckle again.

"Peculiar human."

It paused.

"But then again, you're not quite, are you?"

"Excuse me? Not quite what?"

It grinned wider.

"Not quite human."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry for the wait!

I had a few things going on, and a little (a lot) of writer's block, but I got past it and posted this chapter!

It's kind of short, but I'm proud of it!

It was really fun to write form Alpha's perspective.

Hope you enjoyed! Let me know!

Have a great day/night!
