We had a wonderful walk home. I thought as I smiled. My train of thoughts were disturbed when my phone rang.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey" a voice said.

It was Nicholas.

"Ssup?"

"Are you still grounded?"

"I think so. Why?"

"I thought that maybe we could go somewhere together?"

"Hmm.. I might get exceptions"

"Cool"

"But first, where?"

"Well my dad owns a restaurant nearby"

"Oh cool. When?"

"This weekend maybe? If you're free, I mean"

"Sure but I'll have to ask my parents first so I don't get in trouble again"

"Sure, but I'll text you the address first"

"Cool"

"Yeah"

This conversation is getting awkward.

"Guess I'll see you at school tomorrow"

"Yeah, bye"

"Bye"

My phone beeped. I checked my phone and it was him, sending me the address of the restaurant.

I went downstairs and asked my parent's permission to hang out with Nicholas. As I thought they were against it.

What was I even thinking? 'Exceptions'? I knew it won't be easy.

"But it's an invite from Nicholas" I explained.

"Nicholas? Who's that?" mum asked.

"Nicholas Liu?"

They shrugged.

"The boy who wears glasses and was from my class back in London" I stated.

"The one who played baby bear from your school play Goldilocks?" dad asked.

I chuckled at the memory of him in the play. He used to be short and have a really squeaky voice.

"Yeah, that's him" I answered.

"Hmm.. since you we know his parents and you've known him for a long time I guess it's okay" dad answered.

"Oh my gosh!! Thank you!!" I said as I hugged them.

"But only this time" mum said.

"Yes"

I went back to my room and began to do my assignments.

About an hour later, I heard the front door open.

What time is it?

I looked at the time.

It's 12 a.m. Who would enter the house at this time?

I looked outside the window and I saw a black shadow.

I walked down the staircase carefully and silently. I saw the front door opening. I panicked but it was too late because my whole body froze.

"Hey, why aren't you asleep yet?" a voice that I recognise but I haven't heard the tenderness of it in months.
