Landing with a huge thud I scratched my poor butt as it was the one that cushioned my fall. Muttering out silent curses I heard a voice call out as I look around in the darkness

"Raaay!! Thomaa!! (Y/N)!!! Are you all okay?"
Emma's high squeak voice rang out as I stood up

"Yess but my ass says otherwise!"
I commented before hearing a couple of the kids chuckle as I too stifle a laugh from my comment

"You hear that? We're fine!"
I could hear Emma reassure Chris as he ceased his wails and even letting a little laugh from my comment

I squinted my eyes in the darkness as I could see a figure in front of me. Getting my wobbly legs to cooperate with me, I run to them desperately and clinged on to their arm as they flinched at my sudden contact

"Fu- oh, it was just you (Y/N)."
Ray's voice filled the cave as I nervously laughed

"It's so creepy and dark, so if you don't mind me clinging on to you for a while before we get out of this underground cave I will do so."
I squeezed Ray's arm a little bit exaggerating the 'creepy and dark' in my sentence

He huffed as I smiled gratefully at him in which he looked away pissed

"Thoma, don't stray you idiot!"
I let go of Ray's arm making as I held Thoma's hand

"You're scared, and I'm scared, big guy there isn't, so we scaredy-cats gotta stick together 'kay?"
I explained dragging him along with Ray as the young boy protested

"I'm not scare- EW, EWWW BUG!"
He ran to me, hugging me in the process as I laughed

"What's this? Not scared huh?"
I asked as he frowned at my comment making me grin wider

"I wasn't!"
He answered back as Emma and Ray conversed with each other, a loud voice interrupted them, as they called out

"Emma!! EMMMAAAA!"
They shouted as I yelled back

"Hey! Don, Gilda! Is that you?"
I asked pulling Thoma towards me as we both waved our hands to the figures holding a flashlight

Running to them Emma hugged the little ones mentally counting their number and checked if there were any injuries
"Thank God, you're all okay!"
Emma sighed as I smiled

"Look Emma!"
Chris called out as Emma turned to him

"What is this place..?"
Ray mutteredas he looked at his surroundings

"Shouldn't you know by now?"
I asked him as he pondered upon the cave as the children began to cite their observations of the cave

"Look at these roots!"

"It's like a cave of walls made out of roots..."

"It's like we're in the ocean or something.."

I turn to Ray who was still in deep thought as I sighed. Back then before the escape I knew that if I didn't want to become a burden, I might at least read the adventure books of William Minerva, since it'll be really useful for after the escape. I chuckled at him as he looked at me irritated
