chapter 9: Explain

@Toriel POV@ 
I was sitting in my office at lunch break when Undyne busts in. "Ms. Toriel! We need your help! Please!" She rushes through her words. 
"Undyne what's going on?"
"(Y/N) she…. she's really hurt! Alph founder in the bathroom. Rus was just outside so he took her to the hospital but….. you have to see what it looks like in there…." I immediately get up and follow her to the bathroom to see blood everywhere. I hold my hand to my mouth. 
"You said (Y/N) was in here?..." I say.
"Y-yeah… Rus took her to the hospital…. Sans and the others probably followed….. Red Dream and Blue have also gotten really close to her….." I nod and look at her.
"I will let the principal and have her look into things. Let's go to my office to talk about things." I do as I said and go to talk with Undyne about her experience. Alphys was next but it was very hard to understand her at times. After I'm done talking to both of them I give them permission to leave for the day. As I walk with them out I see the face boys materialize into existence. Rus has blood all over his hoodie but the others were missing their jackets and scarfs. 
"Hello boys, I'm sure you're here to talk about stuff…" I say softly. Blue starts to tear up and hugs Dream tightly.
"Heh, yeah…." Sans says as he looks down. 
"Come in then. I'd love to hear what you have to say, especially since she's a friend of Frisk's. " they all come in and one by one they yell their stories. All broke down into tears at least once during it. Blue was the worst. He could barely get a sentence out. Dream was very upset too. He blamed himself with every part of his explanation. Rus refused to take off his hoodie at all saying he has to wear it. Red was upset saying that they had to find who did it and Sans….he was out of it. He wasn't focusing on anything and his eyelights were gone. He looked emotionally broken. After everyone explained the bell for the end of the day rings. They all walk out of the office and turn back to me.
"You five should take some time off. You're in emotional shock. I'll talk to your parents or guardian about it. You boys take it easy." 
@Sans POV@
Tori walks back into her office and I just stand there. The others turn to walk away but I can't bring myself to move. 
"Oi, Classic. Come on. We're goin back." But I barely register the words. There were people gathering around the five of us and staring. Four of us not wearing our signature pieces of clothing and the other covered with blood.
"SANS! BROTHER WHAT'S WRONG?" I hear Papyrus say. I look over to Papyrus then to the others. I walk over to Paps and hug him. "SANS?" He hugs me back and picks me up.
"Paps…. she's hurt….. I wasn't able to protect her….." I say softly with no emotion in my voice.
"What's going on here?" I hear Nightmare's voice rise above the other's. I look over Papyrus' shoulder to see Nightmare Error and Ink coming to the front of the crowd. "So many negative emotions coming off of you guys I could feel it across the schoo- Dream? What's wrong? It's not like you to be upset." 
I look over to see Dream looking away from everyone not answering his brother.
"Dream seriously what's wrong?" Ink says. Dream looks at him then looks away again.
"Ey, let's get goin. No reason to wait around here any longer." Dream nods and opens a portal to the hospital and everyone goes through. 
"Paps…. take me after them…." I say softly and he follows before Dream closes the portal.
"Why are we here?" He asks in an uneasy voice and I drop out of his arms.
"We're worried bout someone Paps…." I say  and walk to where Dad was talking to Carmen and Clover.
"She should make a full physical recovery. Though I'll try to keep her at rest for as long as I can." I clear my nonexistent throat. They all look at me.
"I'm sorry….. I couldn't keep her safe like I said I would…." I say softly and look around. 
"Sans." Clover said and I flinch back thinking something bad will happen. "I know you tried. Yesterday she came home and couldn't stop talking about how great of a day she had. I don't blame any of you." 
I look up at her and see her smiling sadly. Dad starts talking again. "As I was saying a full physical recovery is expected but mentally it will be hard. Her soul will be even harder to heal."
"What do you mean?' Dream asks.
"Its what seems like lacerations on her soul. Like someone was inflicting damage on it and not on her body." He says. I hear Blue gasp slightly and he rushes into her room with tears in his eyes.
"Dad is it okay if we go in there?..... we want to see her……" 
"Of course. She'd be glad to have you there." I nod and the rest of us, including Papyrus, go inside. Paps gasps slightly at the sight. Blue is cuddled up to her right leg crying and mumbling apologies. Dream goes and sits on her left side before wrapping his arm around his waist. I go pull a chair to her sit on her left side before brushing her hair back again. 
"Heya starshine…. we're back…. brought Paps with us, hope you don't mind…. Tori is looking into what happened….." I trail off as Red Rus and Paps come over.
"She's really hurt Sans…." Paps says. "Not for the first time either….." he says looking at her arms.
"Yeah…. that happened when she was little…."
"Her soul is hurt…. how do we fix that?...." Rus mumbles. 
"Don't know but we sure ain't losing her." Red says though he doesn't look so sure.
Dream's phone starts going off and he takes it out. Frowning he declines the call and turns the phone off. He tears up again and turns back to you. Blue's phone starts going off too but he answers it.
"D-dad…. yeah….. Gaster told you huh?... yeah, Rus is here too…. Dream?.... yeah…… okay see you in a little bit….. I'm gonna turn my phone off though….. love you too…." he pulls the phone away and turns it off. "Dad is going to bring Pappy, Dream and me a change of clothing……" he says. Everyone is silent until there's a knock on the door. 
Rus gets up and walks to the door. His dad was there with three changes of clothing. 
"Hey dad…." he says. 
"Rus, you look like you've been dragged to hell and back." His dad walks in and sees (Y/N) there. "So this is the girl who has my sons so fascinated. Gaster did say that she was in bad shape here but I didn't expect this…. any idea what happened?" 
Blue cuddles closer to her leg before saying one word. "Error….." time feels like its stopped for a moment before he continues. "Error is the only one who can manipulate the soul like how Gaster said….."
