The next day, we were watching Zane beat the record for holding his breath. He would normally sit at the bottom of the ocean for at least 5 minutes, but today, he was doing way better than that.

"Ten minutes! He broke his own record, the guy's inhuman!" Kai gasped. We all watched the timer in awe as Zane erupted from the deep blue water.

"Amazing!" Cole cheered. "Yeah dude! Totally awesome!" I shouted. "We're not worthy!" Jay bowed. "I broke the record?" He asked. "You destroyed it!" Kai said as Zane climbed onboard.

"Okay, okay. Is anyone thinking what I'm thinking? We've been training for so long, I don't think we can get any better! Just think of all we've accomplished!" Jay said as we remembered the half cool, half stupid things we'd all done.

Kai ran across about 50 feet of hot coals, Jay used himself as a lightning rod, Cole lifted like, 500 pounds, including Jay, Nya, a sandwich and a full size chicken!

I had powered the clock tower in Ninjago City by doing Spinjitzu to pull a bunch of resistance bands, and they didn't pop for 30 feet!

"The question should be raised. Perhaps we have reach our full potential!" Zane said.

"I bet we have!" I agreed. "Yeah but are you sure?" Jay asked as we walked to Sensei's room.

"Well, every morning I do 500 push-ups!" Zane told us. "500? Try 1,000!" Kai bragged.

"I've never seen you guys do either of those things. I do like, 1,000 sit ups every morning before sunrise!" "Yeah, I do 1,001." Jay chuckled.

"What is this, amateur hour? Sounds like my warm up!" Cole said as we entered Sensei's room. "Sensei, what does True Potential look like if-" Cole stopped, mid sentence.

We clasped our hands and bowed in respectful apology. "Our apologies, Sensei. We've interrupted you." Zane said.

"I'm sorry if I've been distant lately. My mind has been elsewhere since Lloyd has gone missing." Sensei accepted our apology. "What can I help you with?" He asked us.

"Sensei, what if we've done enough training? What if we've reached our full potential? What if we're ready?" Cole asked. Sensei laughed.

"You might have reached peak physical condition, but you've yet to reach your inner potential. In each and every one of us, there are obstacles that hold us back. Only when you conquer that fear will your heart be free. Only then will you reach your True Potential. Only then will we gave a fighting chance to stop the serpentine from releasing the Great Devourer." Sensei finished.

"There's more to the Great Devourer than you've let on, isn't there, Sensei?" Zane asked.

He sighed. "I too have obstacles within my own heart. There's a story I've never told you." He began.

"Long ago, when I was a young boy, Garmadon and I were more than brothers, we were the best of friends."

Jay suddenly, but expectedly, interrupted. "Wait a minute. Now I know you two are brothers, but really? The King of Cruelty, the Doer of Destruction, the Captain of Chaos, and you two were, friends?" Jay asked.

"Please, no interruptions!" Sensei continued.

"You see, he did not always have a wicked heart. One day, I lost this very katana. Knowing our father would be mad, my bother told me to retrieve it, but I refused.

He told me not to put if until tomorrow what can be done today, and went to get it himself.

When my father found him, he was very ill, for he was bitten by a legendary snake that would grow forever as long as it consumed. A
