----------- Chapter 37 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

               “Haden?”

“Mmm?” he murmurs against my neck.

We’re in my room, just hanging out. Haden, being Haden, has decided it’s been too long since he’s given me a hickey and he’s hard at work.

“Can I ask you something?” I ask breathlessly.

“Just did,” he points out, before going back to nibbling on my neck.

I swat his arm, grinning. “I wanted to know what you’ve been up to this past month.”

Haden pauses and then straightens up. He’s straddling me but carefully making sure not to crush me. I like the contact. It makes me feel so connected to him.

“Well, you know...minor stuff,” he says, shrugging.

He averts eye contact just a wee bit too quickly though. What doesn’t he want to tell me?

“What are you hiding from me, Hay?” I ask him bluntly, smirking at his slightly shocked expression. “Yeah, you can read me like a book. Guess what? I can read you too!”

He chuckles at that.

“It’s really nothing important, Skye. Just boring stuff. You wouldn’t be interested,” he insists.

               “Haden.”

“Politics, Skye. Enmortal politics. It’s dry like hell!” he continues.

He isn’t getting away that easy.

“You know Hay, I spoke to your friend George Adler a semester ago. I asked him to let me sit for a couple of additional Enmortal papers,” I say.

Haden raises an eyebrow. “Why would you do that?”

“I figured I should learn as much about the Enmortals as I can. Especially since I plan to win them over.”

He smiles wide and leans down to kiss me. “Thanks.”

I push him back though. “I took this politics paper. So try me.”

Haden groans under his breath. “You’re so pushy!”

“I learnt that from you, handsome!”

He smirks before brushing my hair back. “It really wasn’t anything big. I just had to straighten things out because of the whole fake death thing. It took a while to convince everyone I wasn’t an imposter. Carter vouched for me 18 times!”

I nod my head. I guess I understand that. Knowing Haden, he would have gotten all worked up over that.

“How about you suddenly bulking up?” I press.

“You noticed?” he whispers huskily, leaning in towards me.

I blush at him. He takes my hand and presses it against his abs. “I thought you may like that,” he explains sexily.
