Chapter 33

GREEN-EYED

(DM's POV)

"Dom?"

I am about to go in the car when I heard a voice. I turned to the person and surprised to see someone I never expected to meet again after so many years. This person was the only one who called me by that nickname.

"So, it's really you! My goodness!" The person from my college suddenly hugged me. "It's been what? Like twelve or thirteen years?" She unwrapped her arms around me and faced me. Her face is all lit up.

"Yeah. Been a long time. Look at you! You look great, Dianne." I said with a smile.

"No, darling! Look at you! My, my, my!" She shook her head. "I can't believe I broke up with you back then. Never thought you'd grow this hot and gorgeous. What have I done, Dom? Ugh!"

My smile went wider. "So you finally realized that, huh."

We laughed together. Suddenly, she said, "Hey, are you in a hurry? I hope not because I really want to talk to you now that we've bumped into each other. Let's have dinner. My treat!"

I looked at my watch. "Well..." I haven't finished my response yet when she interrupted me.

"Oh, how lovely. Let's go then." She took my hand and started walking. "I know this restaurant just across the street. Their steak is to die for." She turned to me. I smiled and when she turned away, I scratched my head.

(Willa's POV)

"Bakit? Ano'ng ganap sa buhay mo at mukha kang maanghang?"

Hindi ko hinarap si Papa at itinuloy lang ang pagwawalis sa hardin. Umupo pa ako para alisin ang ilang malalaking damo.

"Kanina pa nag-ri-ring 'yung cellphone mo sa sala."

Hindi ko pa rin ito sinasagot.

"Mahal na reyna, kinakausap po kita."

Tumayo naman ako pero nanatili pa ring nakatalikod dito. "Ang kulit mo, Pa. Ang aga-aga, eh."

"Aba, ako pa ngayon ang makulit samantalang nilamutak mo halos lahat ng mini donuts sa bakery kagabi. 'Yung bayad mo nga pala."

Padabog ulit akong umupo para bungkalin ang mga damo na nakapaligid sa ilang mga halaman. "Nakakainis naman."

"Ano ba kasing hugot mo at isang linggo ka nang mukhang sili?"

"Ano bang hugot ang sinasabi niyo? Saka saan mo na naman natutunan 'yan? Huwag ka ngang feeling close sa mga customer mong estudyante. Kaya ang dami-dami mong napupulot na ganyan eh."

"Aba. Mukhang may toyo ka nga." Nagulat naman ako nang tumabi si Papa at itapat ang hose sa mga kamay ko. "Linisan mo muna 'yan saka mo harapin ang bisita mo. Wish ko lang matanggal na 'yang topak mo."

Umalis na si Papa at dali-dali naman akong lumingon sa likod ko. Napanganga naman ako nang makita si DM na nakaupo sa isang silya sa garden. Itinuro pa nito ang nakahandang meryenda sa harap niya habang ngumunguya ng ensaymada.

"Ano'ng ginagawa mo rito?" Masungit kong tanong.

Uminom pa muna ito ng juice bago sumagot. "I haven't heard from you for a week now so I decided I should just check on you." Tumayo naman ito at lumapit sa akin.

"Lumayo ka. Huwag na huwag mo akong hahawakan." Seryoso kong pahayag.

Tila nagulat naman ito. Huminto nga ito at may dalawang metro kaming pagitan. "Are you mad at me?" Hindi ko naman ito sinagot. "What did I do?"
