EPILOGUE

"Good morning, Engineer!" bati sa akin ni Lorcan. "Late ka yata ngayon, pagod ba kagabi?" Nginisihan ako ng loko.

"Naku, 'wag mo akong itulad sa'yo, Engineer," biro ko sa kaniya. "Birthday kasi ni Leigh kagabi, tumulong akong magligpit."

"Bente-singko ka na! Enjoy your bachelor life until you have time, if you won't you'd regret it!" Tumawa siya. "Uy, nga pala, dalhin mo naman minsan dito 'yang si Leigh. Puro ka kwento, eh!"

"Hoy, Lorcan. Una, kapatid ko 'yon. Pangalawa, may boyfriend na 'yon. Pangatlo, gago ka." Tinawanan lang niya ako.

"Maiba tayo, balita ko may new project ka raw," seryosong sabi ni Lorcan.

"Oh?"

"Yup! It's a school daw. Not sure about the details," sabi ni Bianca, isa pang civil engineer sa department namin. A school? More on business establishments at bahay ang projects ko... For the almost five years I have been in the industry, I was never assigned to a school. Thoughts were running inside my head. Could I do it good? "Requested ka raw ng client!" dagdag pa niya. Talaga?

"Naks, in-demand si Engineer!" pagkantyaw ni Lorcan.

"Wala ka pa kasi no'ng dumating si Liz, pero gusto na raw makipag-meet no'ng client para masabi 'yung preferences niya tska para makita mo na rin 'yung site. Iniwan na nga pala ni Liz 'yung details, diyan daw sa paper bag sa ilalim ng desk mo. Alam mo na raw ang pupuntahan," page-explain ni Bianca.

And there under my table, I saw a stripe-colored paper bag and inside it was a... a book? Tinignan kong maigi iyon, sa harap ay may babaeng nakaputing gown na palabas ng simbahan at may nakasunod sa kaniyang lalaki. Tama ba talaga 'tong nabigay ni Liz, baka naman kaniya 'to?

Then I saw the title... and my heart started beating faster and faster.

"Engineer, you okay?"

A part in me knew it was mine, that it was for me. A part in me that continuosly yearned for the past. For my desired present. My dream future.

And on the last page of the book was a green sticky note that says:
