Sooner or Later...You Won't Resist Me

Previously: . "Screw you Isyss," Madison said venomously before turning and storming off of my porch towards her car. "Do you think she'll be okay? She won't do anything...extreme...right?" I asked him. Cory shrugged his shoulders. "She just got out of an institute she's been in for nearly three years, I'm sure it's done her some good," he assured me. "So you two will stop this whole 'dating' thing now?" Quentin asked. Neither Cory and I answered. "You're back tire has a huge cut on it," he detailed. She enough, my back tire was cut horribly. "If you ask me, that doesn't look like you ran over something. It looks like you pissed someone off," Brent Daniels said thoughtfully. "You don't think..." I trailed off just as my phone beeped, signaling I have a new text message.

Unknown Number: Hi! I'm so sorry for acting so rudely earlier. Friends? :)

How the hell did she get my number?

Chapter 40

I stared at the screen with confusion. "What's the matter?" Quentin asked as he stood next to me and read the text message.

"Huh," was his response after reading it.

"Is that a good 'huh' or a bad 'huh'?" Courtney asked as she stood on my other side and read the text. "Oh," was her response after reading it.

"Is that a good 'oh' or a bad 'oh'?" Cory asked and stood behind me, reading the text from over my shoulder. "Text back," Cory suggested as he place his chin on my shoulder.

I snorted. "And say what? How'd you get my number you crazy, tire-slashing b*tch?" I asked him sarcastically.

Cory chuckled. "How about taking out the 'crazy, tire-slashing b*tch' part? We're not even sure it was her," he answered. I furrowed my eyes and faced him.

"She's the only one I've pissed off lately," I replied while looking at him curiously. Don't tell me he thinks she didn't to this...

He nodded. "You're forgetting about Lauren," he added. I narrowed my eyes at him. "That's bull; Lauren doesn't have the balls to vandalize my car," I debate.

"So you think the other girl does?" Brent Daniels asked. I was about to give him a smart remark until I remembered he doesn't even know her well enough to know about her past.

I raised my hands in the air and let them fall freely, smacking against my thighs. "Hey, if she has enough guts to cut herself, then hell yeah she has enough guts to cut my tires," I tell him vaguely. He seemed shocked at what I just told him, but didn't question it.

Cory sighed. "You can't start playing the blame game, Isyss. Not without more evidence," he stated with intelligence. I eyed him suspiciously. Is he seriously trying to take her side in this?

"Well damn Cory, since when did you become lead detective in this case?" I asked with heavy sarcasm. Cory rolled his eyes and frown at with his arms folded across his chest.

"Isyss, just calm down--" Quentin started, but I cut him off.

"No no. Why are you taking up for her?" I asked Cory while pointed an accusing finger at him, shaking off Quentin's suggestion.

"Don't start making this into something it's not," Cory said firmly.

"What the hell do you expect me to do? It's obvious that your ex did this!" I shouted in anger while walking back to my car and pointing at my tire.

I know. I know I'm acting like a b*tch right now. But come on! My freaking tire looks like it got freaking slashed by Jason's freaking machete! I think I have a right to be a tad bit upset. Granted, I shouldn't be taking it on my friends, but Cory's really pissing me off with his whole "evidence" crap, when the "evidence" points to someone with knife skills. And who went away for using knives? See, put two and two together.
