Sooner or Later...You Won't Resist Me

Previously: "Hey, we should have a code red. You know, incase Madison starts getting too comfortable around me, you can swoop in and uh...save me," I teased with a persuasive smile. "How about...tacos..." I suggested thoughtfully. "Tacos it is," Cory agreed. "Oh please, when have you ever been embarrassed in front of your crush?" I asked skeptically. "I get embarrassed around you all the time," he said as if it's obviously. Cory sighed and blinked his eyes. "Wow. That was not how I intended on tell you," he admitted. He ran a hand over his face and leaned deeper into the couch. Okay, this is totally worth pausing Lavender...

Chapter 38

I'm too shocked to speak. Seriously, I cannot speak what so ever. We both just sat there in silence. Cory seemed to be waiting patiently for me to respond as he intertwined his fingers and placed them stationary on his lap. He had his lips rolled into his mouth and he leaned his head against the back of the couch with his eyes closed.

"Um," I started, trying to find my missing voice. His eyes closely opened at sudden voice. "How? I mean...when? When did you..." I trailed off, not wanting to say it in fear of him denying it now. He turned his head to me and smiled in amusement.

"Does that really matter?" he asked through his sly smile, his voice deep and sexual. Uh, hell to the yeah it matters. Was it a few days ago? Weeks...months? Oh God, Cory likes me?

This explains so much! Why he's been acting like a complete jackass to Init-I mean T. J. Damn it, now I'm starting to call the poor guy Initials? Cory's a bad influence. "Yes," I replied back simply. He looked at me for a second before sighing, as if he was preparing himself for a long speech.

"Well," he began but stopped. He then turned on the couch, to where he was facing me. "It all started when I was walking down the street. And I came upon a nickel lying near my feet," he started off as if he was telling a story. I rolled my eyes and smiled as I remembered what he was reciting. "So. I. Put it in my pocket..." he continued with a smile.

"Jingle-jingle, hear it dance, in the pocket of my pants," we sung the jingle in unison. We both then laughed as the memories came back to us. When we were younger, my parents had brought me a multiplications book, that had songs in it to help you learn the Times Tables. It came with a tap that had the songs on it, and I use to play it all the time when the twins came over.

They'd end up getting tired of it and Cory would start fussing about how that stupid Nickel song was stuck in his head. But hey! He learned his times tables so...I say my mission was completed...haha. "I can't believe you still remember that," I laughed.

He snorted. "Are you kidding me? That song was stuck in my head for weeks. That one and the other one. How did it go? Um, eight times seven is..." he trailed off for me to answer.

"Fifty-six!" I said in a deep, gangster, rapping voice, just like the song had.

"Eight times seven is?" Cory started again.

"Fifty-six!"

"Eight times seven is?"

"Fifty-six!"

"And that's not hard at all," Cory said in a smooth voice.

"And if you're wondering, seven times eight is?" I replied quickly.

"Fifty-six!" Cory yelled before we both burst into a fit of laughter. Haha, all those songs were cool. Our laughter died down and we sat there just smiling at each other in amusement. "Courtney was right, your singing is terrible," he mused.
