{ ~ ONE YEAR LATER ~}
** Astrids POV **
Asher smiles as he pours my mug of coffee. "Thankyou dear" I reply.
Hiccup sits silently upon the couch, watching the cricket. Aylia and Sam sit side by side, laughing with each other, the photo if Val sits on the wall beside Poppy. I smile back at the photos, wondering what their up to right now. I get lost in deep thought, retracing my life, retracing when I first met Hiccup...
I sit nervously in my new class 'Ancient Vikings'. I remember being 16 back then... I see the familiar face of a boy, he'd been through school with me, but I'd never taken an interest in him. He walks in last, and spots the only spare seat, next to me. "Mind if I sit?" He asks.
I shake my head shyly, wondering why the hottest boy in school would even bother asking me, he should've just sat... He smiles at me as he unpacks his history books. "I'm Hiccup" he greets me.
I nod "I know, everyone knows you, I mean... Uh - I'm Astrid" I reply, scolding myself for my stupid words.
He smirks, he can tell I'm nervous about talking to him. "Nice to meet you, properly. I mean, I know we've been through all of school together, right?"
My cheeks flush red and hot, did he really notice me all this time?
I smile and take a sip of my coffee. My mind wandering to our first date.
"M'lady" he bows and pulls out a chair for me.
I smile "Thankyou" I say and sit down.
Hiccup sits beside me at the table, I watch as the moon glistens and reflects off the ocean waves.
The waitress brings us some champagne and we chat and laugh.
Hiccup doesn't take his eyes off me the whole night...
After desert we walk along the beach back to his house...
Hiccup turns off the TV and sits beside me. "Care for a walk?" He asks.
I nod, setting down my mug and following him out onto the beach. The sunset throws pinks, oranges and yellows onto the horizon, we watch in awe as we stroll along the sand. "Do you think were a good family?" I ask suddenly.
Hiccup sighs "We have been through a lot, I know... " he trails off "But we didn't give up, did we?" He asks.
I smile "No, we stuck with it" I reply.
He smiles "We stuck together, and got through it" he corrects.
He holds my hand in his and looks into my eyes "I love you Astrid Hofferson".
I look up at him "I love you Hiccup Haddock" I reply.
He smiles and kisses me softly.
We may have had some hard times, but we had powerful love, and it made it through... With our hands Intwined, we walk into the night, holding onto the blue memories, the memories that made us stronger...
