"Lila, it's time to wake up sweetheart," Mrs. Campbell says
I slowly sat up in bed and rubbed my eyes before getting up.
"I'll have breakfast ready downstairs if you want to eat before school,"
"I'll be down in about half an hour,"
I had already laid out my outfit the night before, so all I had to do was get dressed, curl my hair, and put on makeup.
I grabbed my outfit and went into the bathroom to get ready, While I let my curling iron heat up, I changed out of my pajamas and used the bathroom. Once I finished getting ready, I went downstairs and sat down at the table
"Good morning," Sarah says
"Good morning,"
"I'm sorry about yesterday, I didn't mean to make you feel insecure about yourself,"
"It's okay, I'm sorry too, I knew you didn't mean it negatively, I've just been feeling insecure recently and that made me feel worse,"
"You're beautiful Lila,"
"Both of you are," Mrs. Campbell says as she hands us each a plate of food
"Thanks, mom,"
"You're welcome sweetheart, you've got about 10 minutes to eat and get out the door,"
I slowly ate breakfast, I wasn't really hungry. I was more tired than anything, I didn't sleep well last night, I had too much on my mind.
"Are you okay Lila?" Sarah asks shaking me from my thoughts
"Yeah, I'm tired, I didn't really sleep well last night,"
"Me either, I kept thinking about school,"
"At least we have the same classes as Zack, Luke, Asher, and Josie,"
"I'm glad Luke is in our classes this time,"
"Me too, I just don't want to have Algebra 2 and Chemistry as the first two classes of the day,"
"Gross, this is going to be a long year,"
"I know,"
I pulled out my schedule to look at it and make sure I knew the order of the classes we had.
1. Chemistry - Yordy
2. Algebra 2 - Clark
3. European History - Taylor
4. English 3 - King
5. French 3- Lyons
6. Choir - Anderson
"Ready to go?"
"Yeah, let's go,"
I grabbed my backpack and walked outside to Sarah's car
"Bye girls, have a good day at school," Mrs. Campbell yells out the door
I wave goodbye as Sarah backs down the driveway and drives away.
"I'm just glad we get out of school at 1:15," she says
"Me too, we can go home and study with Josie while the boys are in their college classes,"
"Maybe we should wait for them, that way we can all work on it together,"
"I guess we can wait,"
"It's just weird, that they're going to college already,"
"I know, but at least it's only three days a week, and they're out by 4:00"
"Yeah, that's true,"
"After they're done with college, they can come over and we can all study together and spend time together,"
Sarah pulls into the parking lot and parks in her assigned spot, When we got out of the car and started walking toward the door, I felt two strong arms wrap around my waist
"Good morning beautiful," Zack says
"Aww good morning Zack,"
He gently kisses me, "I'm going to do that now before we go inside and I can't,"
I kiss him again, "I like that idea,"
"You look beautiful,"
I smile, "Thank you, Zack,"
He smiles, "I'm guessing you guys made up?"
"Yeah, we did,"
"Good, You have to stop being so dramatic,"
I glared at him, "Watch it,"
"I'm serious, you guys fight over stupid little stuff all the time,"
"Can we not talk about it? I don't want to be mad at you and have to spend the next 4 hours with you,"
"You're going to get mad at me for telling the truth?"
"Dude leave her alone, I'm done with all the fighting, It's been a rough last few months, If she doesn't want to talk about it, drop it," Luke says
"We'll talk about it later," Zack says
"Here are our lockers," Sarah says
"Good, my backpack was getting heavy,"
I sat it on the ground and opened my locker, I put everything away and grabbed what I needed for our first class.
"I'm going to head to class,"
"Great now she's mad at me," I hear Zack say as I walk away
I walked down the science hallway and into room 302, I noticed a seating chart on the projector. I smiled when I noticed that Luke was going to be sitting next to me.
"I'm glad they put us next together," he says
"Me too, I get to sit next to one of my best friends,"
"Poor Sarah, she's stuck next to Zack,"
"He's mad at me, but I don't care,"
"I understand both sides, and if I were a girl, I probably would have taken it the wrong way too,"
"I'm glad you aren't trying to take one side or the other,"
"That would just make things worse, I'll talk to Zack about it later when it's just the two of us,"
"Thank you, Luke, you're the best,"
I knew this year was going to be rough, I already had so much homework and it was only the first day of school, It was a lot of review packets, and I already knew I had 4 quizzes on Friday.
"How was school girls?" Mrs. Campbell asks as we sat down at the dining room table
"Good, but I'm tired,"
"You can take a nap if you want, I know you're having a study group with the boys later,"
"I think I'm going to do my homework,"
"What about waiting for the boys?" Sarah asks
"I want to get a head start on it, I'm usually the one who has to help everyone,"
"Oh right, good point,"
"You can take a nap if you want, I'll wake you up when they get here,"
She goes upstairs to her room and I started working on the review packets. I knew I had until Friday to do them, but I wanted to get them done tonight since I knew the teachers would assign more homework tomorrow.
It only took me about two hours to completely finish 4 review packets and the French assignment for the night, I knew I still had an hour and a half before the guys would be here, So I went upstairs and laid in bed
"Lila," someone says gently shaking me awake
I slowly sat up and rubbed my eyes, Zack was sitting down beside me smiling
"Good morning sleeping beauty,"
"What time is it?"
"4:45, we're ready to study together,"
"I've got my homework done,"
"I know, Sarah told us you got a head start,"
"I finished all of the review packets, the whole weeks worth,"
"And you say you're not smarter than any of us,"
"I'm not,"
"Yeah you are, we need your help, even Luke is stuck,"
"He can figure it out, he's smart,"
"Is this about earlier?"
"Unless you know what's going through my mind, or how I feel, I don't want to hear your opinions, Zack,"
"Calm down, please? I can't understand things if you don't talk to me about it,"
"When I do, you just shrug it off anyway,"
"Lila, I.."
"Save it, Zack,"
"I want to understand what's going on, but every time I try to get close to you, you push me away, I can't read your mind,"
"Do you know what it feels like to not have to have either of your parents present in your life? My mom hates me, and my dad is gone, ever since he died, my mom and I haven't spent much time together, and now she's living halfway across the country. I wish I would have committed suicide when I had the chance, I wish I never would have moved here, met you or anyone,"
Zack lays down beside me and holds me as I cry, "I'm glad you moved here, and I'm glad that you didn't end your life because if you hadn't I wouldn't have met the love of my life, and the best thing that's ever happened to me,"
I keep crying into his chest as he comforts me, rubbing my back, kissing the top of my head, doing anything he could to just be there for me.
"You will always have me Lila, no matter what, I love you more than anything, You're the most beautiful girl inside and out, and that's just one of the things that I love about you,"
I looked up at him, "You mean all of that?"
"Every word,"
"I love you, Zack,"
"I love you too princess," He wipes the tears away and gently kisses my lips, "There's that smile I love so much,"
I hug him tightly, "I really don't want to get up, I just want to lay here in your arms,"
"We can lay here for a little bit, I want to hold my girlfriend and make sure you're okay first,"
"I feel better, I'm sorry i threw all of that at you,"
"Don't be sorry, I'm glad you did, I want you to come and talk to me about anything that's bothering you,"
"I've been struggling with a lot recently, I've been feeling insecure, and like I'm not good enough,"
"You're more than enough for me, and I want to show you that,"
"How?"
"Dude, is she coming down?" Luke says as he walks in
"And moment ruined,"
Zack laughs, "We were kinda talking about stuff, we'll be down in a minute,"
Luke smiles, "I'll keep Sarah distracted, she was getting worried,"
"How are you going to show it?" I ask after Luke leaves the room
"You'll see,"
"I'm not ready for that yet,"
"I wasn't thinking that Lila,"
"I'm pretty sure that's what Luke was thinking,"
"I told you, not until you're ready, I just want to lay here with you and hold you and listen to you, we can talk about whatever you want,"
"You scared me, I thought you were going to try something,"
"I promise you, I will never do anything without you being ready,"
"I don't know when I'm going to be ready,"
"And that's okay, It doesn't matter when it is, I just want you to be ready,"
"I guess we should go downstairs before Sarah asks 10 million questions,"
"Luke is already going to ask me questions, just by the look on his face, he knew something was up,"
We walked downstairs and sat down at the table across from them, Sarah had the biggest smile on her face
"You guys look happy," she says
"Nothing happened, so get it out of your mind,"
"We don't believe you," Luke says
"All we did was lay there and talk, that's it," Zack says
"You guys were awfully close though,"
"There's a thing called cuddling, you should try it,"
"Boys stop," Sarah says
"Fine, we'll talk about it later,"
"I told him I'm not ready and he respects that, Unlike you guys, we're trying to make our relationship about everything but that,"
Luke and Sarah both look surprised that I had spoken up
"Can we please focus on homework?" Zack asks
"Yeah, can you help us, Lila?" Luke asks
"I'll help Zack and Sarah, you can figure it out on your own,"
"Woah, what's gotten into her?"
"You accusing me of sleeping with Zack, That's what,"
"Babe calm down, please? I think he gets it,"
"I didn't mean anything bad by it, Lila, I'm just glad you guys are happy and getting along,"
"Babe, look at me," Zack says he pulls me into his lap and hugs me, "It's okay," he says gently rubbing my back
"Luke. don't take it personally, She's on a medicine that's been giving her some crazy mood swings the past few days," Sarah says
"That explains a lot,"
"I didn't know she started taking it, but that does explain a lot," Zack says
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you,"
"Please don't cry,"
"I'm trying not to,"
Zack kisses my cheek, " Come on babe, cheer up, we need you to help us, you're the smart one at the table,"
"He's right, I don't understand the Chemistry review at all," Luke says
"That was the easy one,"
I looked at my paper and started explaining it to them and showing them how I got my answers. After around an hour, they had finished all their homework.
"Dude, your girlfriend is a genius,"
"I know, I never would have gotten that,"
"Me either," Sarah says
"I guess we better head home," Luke says
"I think i'm going back to bed, I'm tired," Sarah says
"Make sure you guys eat first," Zack says
"I'm not even hungry though,"
"Please? Eat a little something?"
"Fine,"
"You too Lila,"
"I'll eat, don't worry, I'm hungry,"
"Good,"
Zack kisses my forehead and hugs me tightly, "I'll see you tomorrow morning, I love you"
