Brittany's POV
I hadn't seen Cole for days. He's been pretty busy, I guess. I felt like something was wrong. I just couldn't place a pin on it. Since Cole and Rhea's fight with their dad, everyone's been extra busy, except me.
I just busied myself with writing more songs in my book, which was gradually getting boring to me. There was no doubt that I loved music but doing nothing but sleeping, eating, taking long baths and writing a couple of songs really bores someone out.
Someone knocked on the door.
"Who's there?"
"Miss Brittany, I've been asked to guard your door. You can call me if you need anything". Someone said.
"Okay". I said.
"Um-" I said.
"Yes?" He answered
"Do you know where C- Prince Cole is?"
"I have no idea where he is".
"Oh, okay". I said.
I tucked myself under the duvet, ready to sleep, when another knock interrupted me.
"Who's there?" I asked.
"It's me- M- miss Brittany". The guard said.
He sounded panicked.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Y- yes. I was told to deliver food to you". He said.
"Okay. Leave it on the floor". I said.
I waited for sometime before unlocking the door to take the food. Malcolm had told me that my door was locked on the outside and I could only unlock it from inside. He also advised me to open the door only when it was very important. Food is very important, right? He then told me a code I needed to unlock the door.
I opened the door to take the tray of food on the floor and closed the door.
"So long, old friend". Someone said behind me, making me jump in fright.
"How did you get in?" I asked.
"I walked here while you were busy picking up your tray". He said, folding his arms.
Right. He used his supernatural abilities to his advantage.
It was Adrian.
Flashback**
After Cole left, instructing me not to open the window, I couldn't help but feel curious.
I wanted to see what was happening outside. What's the worse that could happen anyways?
Alright, just a quick peek and I'll shut it back.
I pulled the curtains apart and opened the window without giving it a second thought. If Cole ever knew I opened the window, I was definitely going to get punished. But I opened it... A few seconds passed yet nothing happened. I looked at the beautiful world outside. It felt good to feel the cool breeze on my face.
My blissful moment was interrupted by a whoosh. What just happened?
I closed the window back, feeling a little bit guilty for disobeying Cole's orders but again, disobeying him also made me feel kind of good. It reminded me that I was the boss of myself.
I spotted someone leaning on the wall at the far end of the room, making me jump in fright.
Creepy.
"W- who are you?" I stuttered in fear.
The figure emerged from the darkness, making his face more visible.
It was that blonde guy from before, the one at the dining room.
"I'm Adrian". He said.
"H- how did you get in?" I asked.
"You opened the window". He stated.
"I don't see how you could have gotten in without me noticing".
Our room was a little bit high up. He couldn't have gotten in by climbing. I'd have noticed.
He raised a bottle with a blue- ish liquid in it.
"Got a little help". He said.
"What's that?" I asked.
"You ask too many questions". He wrapped his fingers around my neck, raising me above the ground a bit, choking the breath out of me.
Okay, that was a pretty unexpected mood change.
"What do you want?" I choked out
"You". He growled. He let go of my neck and flung me on the floor carelessly but somehow, I wasn't hurt.
He drew the curtains apart and opened the window.
"See you soon, Brittany". He said and jumped down.
What just happened?
**End of flashback
That incident was probably the reason for the nightmare I had that night.
He said he wanted me and he was back to get me.
Only if I had been more careful and obedient.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"I thought I said that the first time we talked. But someone else needs you more than I do". He said, walking towards me while I took steps back.
I looked back to see that I was between him and the wall.
He grabbed my neck tightly.
"You have two options. Follow me like a good little pet or I'll force you to". He said and let go of my neck a bit.
"You'll have to try harder". I spat.
He choked me again.
"I hate that attitude. You're leaving me with no choice. How about I tame you a bit?"
He let go of my neck and pulled me by the hair, flinging me across the room.
I felt the pain sear through me.
"What the hell did I do to you?" I yelled.
"Nothing. I just think you're... interesting".
Well, what a fucking wrong choice of words!!!
Flinging me across the room just because you think I'm interesting?!?
"Fuck you!" I cursed.
"Sorry but I don't do pets". He said, smirking before slapping me across the face.
"What was that for?" I yelled.
"Your rudeness".
He grabbed my hair again and flung me across the room.
I groaned in pain, attempting to stand up. He kicked me with so much force, making me fall back down. My whole body was throbbing with pain.
What did I ever do to him?
"As much as I'd have liked to make you suffer, my time here is limited". He said and brought a syringe.
"I'll go with you. Just don't inject me". He said.
"Don't worry, I won't- at least not till we get out of here. Put this on". He said, throwing an oversized cloak at me.
I quickly put it on.
He ruffled my hair so that it hid my face. He attached a collar to my neck and put a leash on it. He threw the hood over my head.
There was this voice telling me to scream for help or stab him with something. The knife in my tray would do.
However, I ignored that voice and listened to the one that told me to comply.
He was about to inject me when I stopped him.
"You said you won't inject me now". I said.
"Shut up". He said slapping me across the face.
He injected the liquid into me.
"Just a little something to make you quiet". He said.
After a few seconds, I suddenly couldn't utter a word. My mouth felt dry and parched. I tried opening my mouth a bit but shut it back almost immediately because of the intense pain I felt.
What the heck did he inject into me?!
He opened the door and dragged me by the leash. I saw the guard lying unconsciously on the floor.
Poor guard. Cole would almost tear his limbs off if he finds out that I'm missing.
Let's just hope someone will see through Adrian's tricks.
Unfortunately, no one did.
Adrian easily tricked the guards at the door into believing I was one of his pets. They couldn't see my face anyways.
After we got outside, we walked a little further down till we got to a black sleek car.
Now what?
"Sleep tight, Brittany". Adrian said before injecting me again.
It only took a few minutes before I slowly began to lose consciousness. Before everything went black, I saw two suited men emerge from the car. Someone else walked up to my slumped body and threw me over his shoulder.
