Chapter 43
I fell asleep in Ashton's bed that night. When I woke up, he wasn't there anymore. I walked quietly downstairs and heard his voice coming from the kitchen. I sat down at the edge of the stairs and listened to the conversation he was having on the phone.
"A month?" He said angrily. He was arguing with someone but I couldn't figure out who.
"Can I at least try and fight this, go to court and explain everything?" Ashton almost sounded upset, like he was about to cry. I wanted to go in there and comfort him but I didn't know what was wrong.
"Please, she's my daughter. I don't want to lose her." He said crying.
I paused right then and there. I didn't know what to do. Was it because I went to the hospital or because I ran away? Either way, I didn't want to leave. Suddenly I found myself crying as well. I tried to get up and go back upstairs but I failed.
"V-Valerie?" Ashton said seeing me trying to sneak back upstairs.
I turned around. We both looked at each other with tears streaming down our faces. We didn't even know what to say to each other. All we knew was that we didn't want it to happen. I ran down the stairs and jumped into his arms.
"I'm going to fight this as much as possible. I'm going to make sure you stay with us. They are not going to take you away." Ash said comforting me and himself most likely.
"I don't want to leave." I said still crying.
"I know you don't, baby. That's why I will fix this."
The other boys woke up. Ashton told them what was said on the phone. The three of them went over and held me tight when they found out. They didn't want me leaving either. Ash sat down and talked to me about what they might have me do or say. Their lawyer was going to have to come and talk to me as well. He said that I was probably going to have to go up and say something in court about what happened and how my life is with them.
I'm happy with them, happier than I have been in my entire life. I don't ever want to leave them. I don't want to lose them.
