Running Away

Stampys POV

The rain outside poured down on the gloomy town. I sat down at the kitchen table and stared out the window. It looked deserted. Like some kind of ghost time. I pressed my head agaist the freezing cold window pane as well as run my finger behind a large raindrop that was falling down it. I quickly glanced at the time on the small clock that was resting on the inside windowsill. 00:07. My mind was compeltly filled up with so many thoughts that I just couldn't get to sleep whatsoever. They weren't good thoughts either. Each and every one of the thoughts that I was thinking invloved death, pain, tears, or blood. I just hoped that by tommorow all of these bad thoughts would be put to rest, so I could think of more nice, happier ones.

Click! The kettle finished boiling. I almost forgot that I was making myself tea. Even though tea has caffine in it and it's supposed to make you feel more awake for me, it always made me sleepier whenever I took it before bed. I think it was because I had tea without any sugar in it. Squid usually always made fun of the fact that I liked my tea sugarless but most of the time I just didn't care. Especially now.

From out of the low down cupboard I grabbed my pure white Stampy Cat mug and made myself the drink before lifting it up and walking back to my room. I placed the mug down on my coaster and turned on my Xbox as well as my TV.  I ran my fingers though my hair while I was waiting for it to load. I was so scared about Sqaishey. Just so scared. All I could think about was her. About what happed eailer...She reacted like she was in pain, heck, by the sound of it even the manilest man would cry yet...She spoke about it like it happened often...I just don't know.

I scrolled down my freinds list to see who was online. Squid was online, which wasn't that shocking, and nobody else was. I clicked on Sqaisheys profile and looked though it. She hadn't put anything down. The only thing she had put was her name, SqaisheyQuack, and her age. Which was seventeen. I was almost twenty-five. I know that there was a eight year difference between us but that didn't mean you had to go ahead and smack your own child across the face! It just made me angry thinking about it.

At that moment my phone buzzed loudly. I looked at who was calling me. It was Sqaishey! I immdently picked it up and waited for her voice to sound. There was a bit of crackling, suggesting that she was on either a train or a car. Wait...If she was in a car...Were her parents visting me? No...No I wouldn't let them in! I would lock the door and call the police for child abuse!

"S-Stampy?" Sqaishey whimpered. Her voice sounded crackly and hoarse. Like she had been crying a lot. "Stampy...Help me...I'm lost. I got pushed into an alley by some guy and he's standing right...No...NO! NO!! Please stop! No!" I heard somebodys voice yelling something before a loud smacking sound rung for what seemed like forever in my ears. "STAMPY!! Help me!" Sqaishey was screaming now.

"Sqaishey! Tell me where you are, I'll come and find you!" I yelled back, already grabbing my emergency travel bag. I always kept this on me if I ever needed to go to the hospital. For around theiry seconds all I could hear was the sound of screaming and smacking. Was she getting beaten up by her dad? No, of course not. She said that there was some guy outside of an alleyway that she got pushed into. If it was her dad she would've said so. "Sqaishey!" I screamed even louder.

"I'm in your town, S-Stampy! Ple-Please make this stop! I...I don't like it! It's...It's horrib-AHHHH!" The phone line went dead. What the heck was happening to her? My mind immdently brought up the un-thinkable. Man pushing a woman into an alleyway...At night...No! Stop thinking that of course that never happend! Why would that even happen in the first place? I pulled my bag onto my back and ran out of the apartment, down the many flights of stairs and into the cold, rainy street outside. She had to come here by train. I would go there and make my way backwards if I didn't see her on the way there.

I sprinted as fast as I could though the rain, looking in every single alleyway that I came across. She wasn't in any of them. I knew that behind the train station there was a really big alleyway. That is where she would most likely be. It still didn't stop me from going out of my way to look behind every shop that I saw. She would've most likely gotten lost if she did move from the train station.

The building came into sight as I turned the corner. Leaning agaist the front of the building was the same person who shoved me and Sqaishey away on our first date. I just knew it! She was wearing the same, red hoodie and black skinny jeans. Did she know Sqaishey or something? I had to avoid eye contact with her. Act natural. I pulled my phone out from my pocket and prentend to text as I walked past the girl and managed to slip behind the station.

Sqaishey was there. She was curled up in a ball, was soaking wet, and was shivering like crazy. The small gasps of air that escaped her lips sounded like she was a dying fish in water. I quickly walked over to her and was about to lift her up when I saw that her arms were tied in some thick, dark brown rope. It had caused most of her arms to go bright red. I guessed that it meant she pulled up quite a fight before she got stuck like this. I kneeled down next to her and did my best to un-tie her. All I managed to do was get one arm free, the other still had the rope tied tightly around it. I would have to do it when we both got home.

"Sqaishey. Can you hear me? Sqaishey?" I whispered in her ear. She mumbled something that I couldn't understand. "Sqaishey, you need to speak up. I can't hear you!" She attempted to sit up and wrap her arm around my neck but she didn't have the strenght to do so as she slipped back down again. I wrapped my arm around her back and lifted her up for her, so she didn't need to struggle. After a few seconds of silent she turned her head slightly, so that she was facing me, and spoke.

"Get me back to your home. P-Please...She's going to mur-murder me." Sqaishey choked out. I felt terrible.

"Sure. Let's go. But you need to be quiet." I replied. I stood up with her in my arms bridal style and quickly looked around the floor. There was her phone, a bag torn into nothing but shreds, clothes scattered everywhere, a small penknife, and some more rope.

"She...Stampy...She tried-tried to...She tried..." Before she could finish she was viscouly sick all over herself. I felt awful for her. "She tried to r-r-r-"

"Tell me when we're back home, Sqaishey. Jeez, you're freezing. Here, have my jacket." I mumbled, carefully putting Sqaishey back down and pulling my jacket off from my body. The outside of it was wet but the inside was still nice and warm. I wrapped it around her body, buttoned it up for her and picking her up again.

I crept out of the alleyway and looked around the outside street as fast as I could. The girl who trapped Sqaisehy in that alley was still in the exact same place. Leaning agaist the front. This time though she was shouting at somebody down the phone. She was probably too wrapped up in conversation to notice us. I took it as a chance to run out of the darkness, into...Well, more darkness. But atleast I could see. The street lights around the staion stayed on all thoughout the night while other streetlights turned off at around midnight.

The cold wind and rain felt like the worlds sharpest razor blades were digging into my face. I gritted my teeth as hard as I could and started go into a full blown sprint. I hadn't sprinted like this since I was in school and I was forced to go into a race for PE. Every so often I would look down at Sqaishey. And every time I did so she looked more and more sick. It was like she had gotten the flu since the last time that I saw her which was less than twnety four hours ago!

My apartment came into sight. Well, finacilly it was Squids apartment, as he paid most of the rent for it, but I was the one who kept it clean, paid the bills, called plumbling, painted the walls, bascially the handyman of the whole place. I jammed my key into the lock and walked into the large, high rise building. The lifts were all broken. I found that out the hard way as I almost died in them the last time I came up here. Sighing, I started going up all seventy-two flights of stairs to get to the top. I still don't know why Squid decided that we were going to live on the top floor. He knew I was scared of heights.

At long last I got to the top floor. I walked around the long, flat, hallway until we got to my apartment door. The hallways in all of this apartment were painted a light, duck egg blue clour. Like a hospital. It also smelt like a hospital if the very little staff here didn't use air freshner every single day. I unlocked the door and as soon as I closed it behind me I ran straight into my bedroom and laid her down on the bed. She looked even worse in light that she did in the darkness of night. I felt my whole body start to panic. Should I ask her whats wrong? What if she didn't tell me? Should I just let her rest for a while?

"Sqaishey..." I said, kneeling down next to the bed. I slipped my hand into her bloodied and bruised one. Jeez..."What happened to you? Tell me." I said again, this time, much more firmly.

"I...I was running away. I had to Stampy! Otherwise my parents would've just abused me until that day in which I did move out! I'm so sorry! Please don't hate me." Sqaishey choked out in between cries.

"I know, it's okay. I understand why you ran away and stuff. But...I know you don't want to talk about it but...What happened in the alley. You were about to tell me but stopped." She paused for a second, not moving at all. The only way I could describe her expression is that it was a mixture between fear, anger,  and confusion.

"Because she said that if-if I told anybody then she-she would kill you! So...So I can't! I'm s-sorry Stampy..." Sqaishey replied. Tears were rolling down the side of her face. Before I could say anything else she got up and walked into the bathroom, locking the door behind her. For a moment I thought about going after her yet at the same time I knew she needed her privacy. It still didn't mean that I got more and more scared after every minite that passed though.
