Brasov, one of the many cities inside the Transylvania region. It is well known for its medieval time structures and ancient sights such as the Saxon walls. It's a very old-style city built with stones, blocks of cement, and other old materials that would fit with the past ages. There are many sights to be shown in this historic city such as The Black Gothic-style Church, the building dates from 1477. The Catherine's Gate, the only original city gate to have said survived from medieval times. Then there's the Bran Castle that attracts many fans of the legendary vampire called Dracula, with it being more commonly known as Dracula's Castle.
With the evening slowly coming, one of the market streets in Brasov is bustling with customers and tourists to either fetch the fresh ingredients for their dinner or to explore.
A specific individual emerges from the crowd while holding two cloth bags containing ingredients. This person is an old woman who looks to be in her mid-seventies. She has flowing grey hair that is tied up into a single bun, soft and kind light-blue eyes, tan complexion on her aging skin. A pair of simple glasses is worn in front of her eyes. Her attire consists of a simple long-sleeve black blouse, light brown long trousers, and a gray sandal.
The old lady wears a calming and warm smile on her face that gives an impression to the bystanders that she is a friendly and caring old lady who is content with her life and living the rest of her days in peace. After taking a right turn, the woman walks down the quiet narrow streets with both sides holding towering houses. Suddenly a man burst from the alleyway and pass the woman, taking one of groceries bag from her hand.
"W-what!" the lady gasps and turn to see the thief quickly dashing away "Stop, please!" she shouts, but it falls on deaf ears. Being at the age where chasing is over the old lady sighs and a look of defeat form on her face. "Gah!" "Uh?!" she looks up to see the thief crash onto a wall then another individual enters the street, stopping in front of the passed-out man and takes the bag.
"Stealing from an old lady, what a despicable act," the person says in a sharp and alluring voice. The elderly adjusts her glasses to see her savior since they are standing in a shady area. After getting a full look, a gasp erupts from the old lady, her expression changes into disbelief and she drops the other bag on the ground out of shock.
Walking out from the shade is Sayomi and she slowly approach the senior woman. "It has been a while," she speaks, wearing a soft smile "Clara." The old lady stood frozen and watched the Pureblood stop in front of her. "Sayomi, dear!" Clara breaks out in a big smile with tears of joy, giving a big embrace to the Dracul, weeping silently. Sayomi accepts the gesture and wraps her arms around the shaking lady, smiling in reminiscing.
Clara pulls back and brings her hands to the Pureblood's face, gently grasping them. "Oh dear, look at you" she smiles happily when examining Sayomi's appearance "You've grown up to be such a beautiful woman!" "Thanks, Clara... It has been a while since we last saw each other" "It certainly has."
The old lady picks up the bag on the ground and uses her other hand to grab Sayomi's left arm "Come, dear! We must simply catch up. I'll make you a lovely hot chocolate that you always enjoy" "I can't say no to that," Sayomi replies with a slight chuckle and follows the woman.
Clara's House
"Oh, sweet heavens, I can't believe after all the years past, and I finally see you again," Clara says, bringing a cup of hot chocolate to Sayomi, who has made herself comfortable on an old red leather couch in the spacious living room. Sayomi takes the cup and smiles "Yeah... Sorry for never visiting. Since our last visit things have... changed quite drastically." Clara takes a seat on a rocking chair and picks up her cup of hot chocolate, looking at the steam pouring out before shifting to the Pureblood.
"Oh dear, did something bad happened?" "I rather not discussed it, Clara" Sayomi takes a sip of the drink then brings the cup down, a smile makes way to her lip "Taste delicious as always" "Ahaha, I'm ecstatic to hear that, dear" Clara giggle a bit before taking her sip. "I didn't come here to talk about unpleasantry topic" Sayomi speaks "I see, then let's talk about a topic that always brings a smile to your face," Clara says, grinning slightly "Where's that adorable boy, Nawin? I thought he'd be with you."
A warm smile makes way to Sayomi's face "Sadly he can't be here right now," "Oh that's a great shame. He was such a wonderful boy when you brought him here! How is he?" "He's grown a lot," Sayomi reply and takes another sip of the delicious drink. She brings the cup down and looks up at Clara "Despite the hardship he has been through... Nawin has grown to be a fine boy with the kind heart in the right place. Also," Sayomi smirk a bit in amusement "He has become quite the looker, he has already captured many hearts" "Ahaha, I did foresee this coming" Clara laughs, resting her left hand on her chest.
Clara smiles in reminisce "It is why I used to call him the little King while you the Queen. You two are just perfect for each other" she says and misses the faltering smile on Sayomi's face, but that was quickly gone the second it appears. "Tell me," the Pureblood starts, reaching forward for a plate on the table that holds some biscuits "How have you been doing, Clara? Still working at the orphanage?" she asks, picking up the treat and brings it to her mouth, taking a bite. "I have been doing fine. As you can see Brasov hasn't changed much, and to me, that's a good thing. I'm just leaving the rest of my years in peace. For your other question, yes, I am still working at the orphanage" Clara answers, causing Sayomi to smile "That's good, you have always been great with kids. They are lucky to have you" "Ohoho, dear you flatter me" "Just stating the truth, Clara. You've done much for me, and it is something I'll never forget" "Ah, it's alright, child."
"Child," Sayomi repeats, finishing up the treat and lets out a chuckle "Clara you remember how old I am right?" "Ohoho, I may not know the exact number since you never gave me, but for a woman that is thousands of years old you are looking beautiful, dear!" "Thanks for the compliment."
"Vampires..." Clara looks out the window, letting out a deep chuckle "The irony of you being here, Sayomi" "I have noticed," the Pureblood finishes the drink and place the empty cup on the table. "All the people who live here want to believe that there are vampires secretively living among them, but in the back of their mind, they comprehend it is not true. But," Sayomi chuckle "Here I am, providing that idea incorrect" "You are much more than the vampires these people have in their mind," Clara says in a complementary way "Indeed, I'm nothing like the vampire these people and the rest around the world believes in" Sayomi states.
Clara finishes the drink and rests the cup on her knees "So, what else has brought you to Brasov?" she asks, looking at the Pureblood "Besides visiting you, Clara... I have come here for another business" "Is this normal business or vampire business?" "Vampire," "Ah, I never like hearing that answer," Clara says, shaking her head, her eyes shine in concern while the Pureblood lets out a chuckle "I know that very well, Clara."
Sayomi glance at the front door and certain image floods in her mind. A memory of the door opening, and Clara entered the house, holding hand of a younger version of herself. Sayomi sees her young self, wearing an expression of confusion and curiosity while Clara was smiling kindly down at her "Let's get some food in you, my dear. You must be starving" "F-food," the child Pureblood utters through the rough and dry voice.
The memory suddenly comes to a halt and Sayomi blinks when sensing numbers of magic signatures appearing in Brasov. "Hmm," she hums, slit pupils narrow in intrigue. Closing her eyes, Sayomi concentrates hard on recognizing the signatures. 'Huh, so it is the Gremory and her band... But,' a frown form on her face 'My dear, Nawin isn't present, and there's two unknown individuals accompanying them... Interesting.'
Clara blinks when seeing the Pureblood suddenly gets up "Leaving?" she asks "Yeah," Sayomi nod and gives an apologetic smile "Something just came up. Sorry, but I have to cut this short, Clara" "Ah, I understand." Clara slowly gets up and place the cup on the table before heading toward the Pureblood. "Take care, my dear," Clara says and give one final hug to the taller woman before pulling back, looking at her in the eyes and smile "Please do visit again soon and promise me to bring Nawin. I want to see how much he has grown up" "... Alright," Sayomi nods "When I can I'll be back here with him."
Clara smile and let's go of the Pureblood arms, watching her turn around and head to the door. "See you, Clara," Sayomi says, glancing back ones more "Take care," the old woman reply with a wave. Sayomi pulls the door open and exits before shutting on the way.
Now standing in the quiet street, Sayomi takes a few steps forward but stops suddenly. Her expression softens, and she glances back at the front door of Clara's house. A memory starts coming to life and it shows herself standing there, at an older age and besides her is a young and beaming Nawin. Both are holding each other's hand. "Is this it?" the young boy asks, looking up at the Pureblood "Yes, we're here, my dear" Sayomi replies with a beautiful smile "What is she like?" "She's a very kind woman who had helped me when I was lost. You and she will get along lovely, my dear" "Yeah!" "Ahaha, let's head in then, shall we?" Sayomi says, grabbing the handle on the door "Let's!" Nawin replies with a bright smile.
The vision slowly fades away, and Sayomi finds herself standing there. She gives one last smile at the memory before it reverts to a stone-cold expression. Turning towards the east, the Pureblood begins striding forward.
Elsewhere
"So, this is Brasov" Rias looks at the old-style buildings in awe "Yeah," Issei stood beside her, looking at the beautiful hills in the horizons and the orange sunlight kissing it and the lands to create a beautiful, radiant scene. "This place is gorgeous," Issei utters "And romantic" Rias adds, grasping his hand which causes him to turn and grins "I agree." The couple shares a quick kiss while the sun shines on their right, creating a majestic view.
Akeno smile at the couple sharing the moment, before her gaze shift to the bustling market to their right. Though the smile on her face falters slightly by a sudden feeling of ominous creeping behind her back from gazing at the market. Akeno finds herself glancing down on the bracelet 'Nawin-kun...' she whispers, hoping to see her lover soon.
"Why the long face?" Riser questions the Himejima "Already getting sad because of Nawin missing?" he asks in a teasing manner. Akeno sighs and an exasperating smile form on her lip "Quite, and I am a bit irritated by this sudden mission. I wanted to spend some time with him. Lately, we couldn't, with everything that has happened involving my birthday and Misako. I thought there's finally the time for us when he returned, and then suddenly this situation comes to light... I know I sound selfish, but it is frustration" "I get it," Riser reply, nodding his head "But look at the bright side" he points out, gaining the Himejima's attention "At least in this mission, it has you two together, so you still spending time together."
Akeno blinks, seeing the logic in the Phenex's comment "Yeah," she whispers, a soft smile form on her face "I guess you do have a point there, Riser." "Wow," Rias stop beside Akeno, bringing a hand around her friend's shoulder while sending a grin toward the Phenex "Look at you, cheering his friend up" "Didn't know you were capable of that," Issei adds, joining his girlfriend on teasing the Phenex.
"May be a douche but have a kind heart" Koneko assert, stopping by the side with Gasper. The others erupt into chuckles and giggles by the Toujou's adorable but accurate comment. Riser wants to get mad, but an amusing grin splits on his face "Huh, quite true there, Koneko" he replies, chuckling.
Gasper pokes her index fingers together and looks around "Where's Elmenhilde-san and Andrei-san?" he questions in a soft tone, showing some impatient of not moving forward "Yeah," Issei cross his arms, scouring around "They are surely taking their time." "Remember they said they are heading out to feed," Rias says "The two took a long journey to get to us so it is not surprising to think they'd be starving for blood."
Issei's expression turns worried "Wait... Are they hunting humans?" "Weren't you paying attention?" Riser asks, shaking his head "That Elmenhilde girl said they are heading to one of their peoples to fetch blood... So clearly there's some secretive shop or place here for them to get blood discreetly" "Then where do they get that blood from?" "Don't know... Maybe from animals or fresh corpses" "Urk," Issei grimace "Sounds disgusting."
"It's how we live, Devil" a familiar voice snarl that causes everyone to turn around to see Elmenhilde and Andrei standing behind them. The tall man looks uncaringly by the Hyoudou's comment while Elmenhilde seems offended "If you find that so disgusting then perhaps I'll take blood from you" she states with a slightly twisted smile that has Issei turn pale slightly and shakes his head rapidly "N-no thank you!" he replies.
Looking satisfied with the scared expression on the Hyoudou, Elmenhilde turns to Rias "We can proceed to the gateway now" she states "Perfect, where is this gateway exact position? Is it the city?" "It's in there," Elemenhilde points to the east. Everyone follows the direction and spot the large castle build in the center of a bustling forest with vibrant, tall green trees. "Of course," Akeno utters, giggling lightly "The gateway would be in the Bran Castle," "Also known as the Dracula Castle" Rias adds, smiling in intrigue and excitement to visit such a historic place.
"Then let's get a move one," Riser says "We are standing to gather attention." Everyone looks around and do indeed see many glances being thrown at them by the civilians "We do stand out," Rias note, nodding before turning to the vampires. "Please lead the way" "We'll take the secret path there, so stay close" Elmenhilde advise and turns around, walking to east with Andrei by her side while the group follows closely behind.
Time Skip
Somewhere in the vibrant forest shows, a large boulder sited there in quite a suspicious order. There are no other boulders anywhere nearby or even tiny pebbles. This boulder suddenly is lift off the ground and ascending from the sizeable whole from the earth is Andrei, holding the large rock up with only his right hand. Touching the grassy field, he takes a few steps to the right and places the boulder gently to the ground.
Elmenhilde emerges from the hole follow by Rias and the rests. When everyone is on land, Andrei merely pushes the stone back to its previous location by softly kicking up. "Never expected this secret path to be underground," Issei comments, staring at the boulder "No kidding," Riser dusts his orange shirt and black long combat pants from specks of dust. When done brushing the dirt from his clothes, the Phenex turn to the vampires "Was using that path really necessary?" "It is," Elmenhilde answers without missing a beat, turning her head to the direction of the castle that can be seen through the trees. "The normal path to get to get here is crowded among this time... We will just be gathering unnecessary attention so stop whining, Devil" she asserts in a sharp manner that irks the blonde boy, who's eyebrow twitches a bit but decides not to retort this once.
The vampires start heading toward the castle and the group follow closely behind. "Won't the castle still be open to the public?" Rias asks "We owned this castle and I have already given notice beforehand of our arrival. The castle is utterly close to the public today, and no one is allowed near it" Elmenhilde answers "I see."
Everyone continues on the path toward the castle in silence. But, the silence was becoming unnerving for some. Akeno, Issei, Rias, and Koneko both have their body tense, feeling something isn't right. Akeno's been holding this feeling ever since near the market, Issei and Rias hold this feeling by the utter silence in the area, Koneko's senses are screaming danger, and her body starts feeling heavy as they draw closer to the castle.
"Wait," Rias speaks, unable to bear the silence. Everyone stops "Something isn't right here," she says, "You are right," Andrei speaks, his slit pupils narrow "We should be greeted by now from the guards," "I've noticed of their absence" Elmenhilde state, bringing her right hand up to her chin, holding it in a thinking manner.
"Aaaahhhhhh!" a sudden sound of a grueling scream erupts from the east that quickly has everyone's head snap at the castle direction. "Let's move!" Issei is the first to shout and breaks into the sprint, causing the rest to follow suit quickly. Issei burst from the bush and summons the boosted gear, ready to battle with a serious expression on his face. But, that very expression shatters and replace with the look of fear when seeing the person responsible for causing the scream.
Everyone burst from the bushes and comes to a halt, all wearing an expression of either shock and anxious. The scene in front shows Sayomi standing there, her silver coat blowing by the breezing passing by, small blood stains can be seen underneath the two-tail end. The very blood belonging to three dead guards laid around her. All of them has multiple holes in their vital areas such as the heart or brain, showing their empty chest and head.
"I-it's her" Issei utters in a shaky tone, taking a step back when seeing the Pureblood slowing turning around and looks at them with those sinister blood-red slit eyes. A big menacing grin split on the Dracul's face that causes Gasper to quickly hide behind Koneko for safety, an expression of utter fear shown on his face. The rest immediately gets in defense, all of their body tense in anxious.
The people that aren't showing fear of the Pureblood is the vampires, Andrei and Elmenhilde. "You," the blonde woman utters a look of disgust shown on her face by Sayomi "Your mere presence is unpleasant, faulty pureblood" she snarls. Issei snaps his head to Elmenhilde 'I-is she insane?! D-does she even knows w-what that w-woman is capable of!' he utters in his mind, an expression of disbelief worn on his face. Rias and Akeno also send the blonde woman the same look, finding either she is stupid or has no concept on how dangerous the Pureblood standing a few meters away from them is.
Sayomi's eyelids lower ever slightly by the comment, an expression of unamused and annoyance flash in her eyes. "Faulty Pureblood?" she repeats "Do you even know who you are speaking to, little girl?" "Little girl!" Elmenhilde hiss "How dare you call me that" "Clearly someone holds high arrogance with no power to back it up," Sayomi utters, her tone turns sharp "Perhaps I need to teach you a lesson in respect."
Issei was about to speak but stop when Elmenhilde opens her mouth once more "She exhaust me," she says and turns to her companion "Andrei, for the honor of our Queen and our race, we should get rid of this faulty Pureblood and bring her head to our Queen. Wouldn't you agree?" "Yes," the man replies, taking a powerful few steps forward that cause the ground to crack with each stomp.
"Don't!" Rias shouts out, causing both vampires to glance back "We need to retreat immediately! You two obviously don't understand what she is capable of!" "And you devil clearly are underestimating our abilities!" Elmenhilde retorts, stunning Rias. Silencing the Gremory, Elmenhilde returns to Andrei "Being the Queen's guardsman, this task should be an easy one for you" she states, wearing a proud smile while the man remains to compose and doesn't give a reply, instead start advancing toward the Pureblood.
"Is she as strong as you are claiming?" Riser utters in a low tone, standing beside the Gremory "I've never fought her, so I liked to know what we are dealing with here." "She survived against my brother and defeated Nawin-kun in multiple occasions without difficulty" Rias answers, her usual strong turn wavers which gives the Phenex enough sign that the opponent in front of them isn't someone they should take lightly against.
"Then what's the plan, Rias?" Akeno asks, staring sharply at the Pureblood "We can't run away now that Andrei is going to battle her... Listen up," Rias speaks up and have everyone look at her "The second there is an opening we will take full advantage of it." Rias revert her head forward "Don't hold back, we are going all out in this one... Because if we don't, then it's the end of us here" she says, and her words cause many to start sweating in anxious.
Andrei continues advancing toward Sayomi without hesitant, his expression slowly hardens as he draws near, showing his readiness to battle. The large man takes one more step and kicks off the ground in a burst of speed. Sayomi uncrosses her arms, ready for the incoming figure but she is met with surprise when the male vampire disappears in a blur.
Before the Pureblood could move her head, a blow smashes to the right side of her face that sends her sliding away. Sayomi grunts and looks forward, seeing Andrei in front and proceeds to throw a barrage of punches to her chest, face, and stomach.
Rias along with the rest of the group are in absolute stunned, watching Andrei pushing the Pureblood back, having her on the defense as she staggers back by blows coming in all directions. Elmenhilde is grinning happily at the view, taking pleasure at seeing Sayomi getting push back and punish. "I-impossible," Issei utters, clenching his hands, his teeth grinding together "No," he whispers, his eyes turn into a glare "This isn't right."
With another high right arm coming down on Sayomi's shoulder, pushing her backward. Andrei brings both arms up for the final blow "Ahhhhh!" he roars and brings the arms down in full force on his opponent. "Kukuku," a menacing chuckle erupt from Sayomi's smirking lip, and her arms shoot up to catch the attack, halting it in place. "Uh?!" Andrei along with everyone is in shock from the unexpected move while Sayomi's grin grows.
"Gruhhhh," Andrei growls, his teeth clenching when feeling the Pureblood pushing him back, gripping his wrist tightly. Sayomi effortlessly pushes the man's arms to the side then releases it to deliver a vicious chop to the neck that creates a wincing sound. "Kaahuhh!" Andrei gags loudly and starts coughing, his eyes bulge from pain, but he quickly composes and ignores the pain to swing a right arm.
Sayomi raises her right hand and slaps the man's attack away with ease then counter with a quick two combo of a right jab to the face and left jab to the torso that sends the man sliding away. The spectators are left in stun, unable to keep up with the Purebloods attacks, it is so fast and fluent that they couldn't clearly comprehend it.
Andrei's expression turns to anguish from the pain coursing through his body. All the blows he has taken from the Pureblood is something he has never experienced before. They are so powerful that it feels like he has been hit by a full impact of a meteorite that's condensed into a punch. "Graaah!" Andrei roars and brings a left arm down, but Sayomi sidesteps it, and counters with a brutal uppercut to his side that causes a cracking sound to erupt, signaling pieces of his ribs are just either shattered or broken.
The Pureblood wasn't done, and she snatches the hunch man by the neck, from behind then pulls him down to give a vicious knee to the face, and another sound erupts that cause the frozen group to flinch. "Gahh!" Andrei screams in agony as blood explodes from his busted mouth and his broken nose. Sayomi pulls the man's head back so he can face her "It's not fun, is it? Getting your ass kicked" she states with a menacing grin before finishing the man off with a downward punch to the face that sends him crashing to the earth, defeated.
"All that attacked, and you haven't even inflicted a single bruise on me" Sayomi state in disappointment. The group examines closely and indeed found that to be a fact. With all the barrage of attacks Andrei landed on the Pureblood, there are no traces of even light wounds on her.
Exhaling out in delight, Sayomi slowly shifts to face the frozen group and smirk at all their shock expression. "With that sack of disappointment out of the way. Do any of you want to give a try?" she asks, resting the left hand on her hip in a sensual manner while raising her right arm up, motioning for any of the members to comfort "It's honestly up to you. Shall we continue or are you all going to scram?"
"Rias," Issei whispers, looking towards his girlfriend for guidance, along with the rest. The Gremory's expression remains hesitant before she shifts toward the group "Retreat," she mutters, taking a step back "We can't fight her... It's suicidal." "W-what?!" Elmenhilde snaps out of her shock and twists around to look at the Gremory "We have to stop her!" she shouts, glaring "The other gateway is across the globe" "Then we go there," Rias retorts sharply, silencing the vampire with a glare of her own "You've seen what she's capable off. Def-" Rias is interrupted by Sayomi appearing in front and snatch her by the neck, lifting her feet off the ground.
"Rias!" Issei shouts and immediately charge toward the Pureblood with the rest following, but with a glance, Sayomi blast all of them away. Issei and Akeno being the closest, have both flying away in a rapid rate and crashes through multiple trees. Riser bounces off the earth before plummeting down. Koneko quickly snatches Gasper and hold him close, taking the impact on her back when they crash through a thick tree. Elmenhilde is sent spiraling through the air before slamming near the unconscious Andrei.
Sayomi stares at the Gremory's face, looking at the discomfort expression shown. "I know you are stronger than you let on, but you decide not to release it... Is it because you're afraid of hurting your friends?" she asks, smirking darkly "Naive you are." Rias suddenly snaps her head down, glaring at the Pureblood with those crimson eyes "S-shut up!" she exclaims and starts powering up. Crimson aura burst into life and surrounds the two. The aura is extremely dense and explosive that it causes the ground to crack and split.
"Ooh," Sayomi watch in fascination, the smirk on her face widen "Showing some guts now." Rias grab the hand's wrist that's holding her neck, squeezing it tightly. The Pureblood looks to see her skin darkening, black smoke emits around it showing signs of burning. Rias swing her feet back then shoots it forward to smash at the Dracul's stomach to successfully separate them.
Rias lands on her feet and promptly drops to the ground, gripping her neck as she gulps in the air to her aching lungs. Sayomi hunch forward to start herself and stand straight, looking forward to the kneeling Gremory. She perks when sensing a magic signature spike from the right and glance at the direction to see Issei dashing towards her with a rotation charging on the boosted gear. Sayomi cock her head to the left to see Akeno is too dashing towards her, lightning cracking around her arms.
Instead of going close, Akeno suddenly jumps back and have both her arms extend forward to discharge two massive lightning blasts. Sayomi raises her right arm out from the coat's pocket and a pink shield form in existence, protection her side. Sayomi merely glances at Issei, and he is suddenly pulled towards her in rapid speed.
"W-what?!" the Hyoudou shouts out, unable to control his flying body and he looks up to only have his heart skip a beat as he rapidly draws closer to the smirking Pureblood. The lightning blasts impact the shield and causes a large explosion. "Hyoudou!" Riser comes from the side and tackles Issei before he could enter the smoke. The boys go crashing to the ground, a few meters away from the explosion.
Issei sits up and gasps in relief, clenching his heart in relief "T-thanks, Riser" he says, turning to the Phenex, giving a sincere smile of appreciation. "No problem," Riser replies, shaking his head and stands up, turning to the pouring black smoke "Be bad news for you if I didn't step in" "Y-yeah, she's something else," Issei says and slowly raise up.
Koneko appears from above and comes down with her right fist. Without looking, Sayomi brings her right hand up and catch the attack. The ground beneath her implodes, and Koneko along with the rest are left in shock, seeing the Pureblood able to catch Koneko's full punch without difficulty or consequences. Lots of adversaries would risk having their arm dislocated or even ripped off from doing that.
Sayomi suddenly pulls the young girl down in whiplashing speed and raise her right knee up, smashing the Rook's stomach on it. Koneko gasp out in pain, feeling the wind knock out of her lungs. "Koneko!" Issei shouts, dashing toward his friend aid and sees the Pureblood toss her towards him. He brings his arms forward and catches the young girl. Issei looks at Koneko's painful expression than looks up, glaring heatedly at the Pureblood but that only receive him that dark smirk which causes him to flinch and take a few steps back in fear.
"You damn bitch!" Riser shouts and thrust his right fist forward to produce a massive stream of flames toward the Pureblood. "Enough!" an unmistakable voice shouts, and the flames disperse away into harmless sparkles. Sayomi's smirk twists into amusement while everyone else looks in shock to see Nawin standing there with Akame by his side. He has his right arm raised to show he was the one to discard the flame.
Nawin's expression turns cold, and it shifts to Sayomi. Both pairs eyes class, red and brown orbs staring at one another. "Sayomi..." Nawin starts "My dear..." the Pureblood replies and Akeno's expression harden at the nickname the enemy use to address her lover, it truly rubs her the wrong way. "What business do you have here?" Nawin question, not intending to battle considering the outcome is obvious.
Sayomi didn't give an answer and instead stare hard at the Makasha's eyes. Nawin blinks in surprise when noticing the world around him suddenly freeze still. "What?" he mutters, shifting to Akame and sees her standing there like a stone. He turns to the rest and sees all of them are in the same state. "The time isn't technically frozen," Nawin turns to see Sayomi walking towards him, "Then what is this?" "Simple, I just connected a link between you and I via our mind, so we can have a private chat" she replies, stopping in front of him.
"Private chat..." Nawin repeats, still on-guard "What are you doing here, Nawin?" Sayomi asks, her tones sharp and straight to the point "Mission," the Makasha answers, seeing no reason not to answer. "Huh," Sayomi shakes her head and turn it to the side, her expression morph to disgust "So, instead of dealing with this civil war situation on their own... They are relying on devils and you to help them. What a disgrace" "Those are your people," Nawin state "And they bring shame to the name vampires," Sayomi replies, turning to face him "Once the strongest race now reduced themselves in hiding themselves away from the world and relying aid from a different race to deal with their stupid problems."
Nawin takes a step forward, his expression hardens "Then why are you here, Sayomi?" "I'm here for two reasons," she answers, smirking "Since you told me your reason, I'll share you one of the reasons why I'm here." Sayomi turns to look at the large castle "The world that the vampires now reside is a world I am very much familiar with. Because it is a world which Alucard created," she says, and the new fact catches the Makasha by surprise "It was his domain with only a few aristocrats' families are able to reside in. The select ones that he trusts." Sayomi glance back at Nawin, that smirk returns to her face "There is a particular item that still dwells in Transmere that belongs to me" "Transmere?" Nawin repeat "It's what that world is once called," Sayomi says, and her expression turns sour "When the Tepes and Carmilla took over it is now called Vamhaven... Truly an asinine of a name."
Nawin crosses his arms, his posture more relaxes now "Then if that is one of your objectives than we shouldn't be fighting... Better off heading to Transmere together then go on our separate ways" "Oh," Sayomi smirk turns to an amusing one "Not a fan of Vamhaven?" "Sounds stupid to me" he replies which cause the Pureblood to let out a short chuckle.
Sayomi turns around, walking back to her previous position "Fine, we'll go together, but do keep your friends in line because if they annoy me" she glances back, her eyes gleam in menace "They'll be put down for good, my dear."
"Nawin-kun!" a familiar voice shouts and the Makasha snaps his eyes open to see Akeno standing in front of him, holding a concern expression, cupping both his cheek with her soft hands. Blinking, Nawin looks around to see Akame standing to the right, also looking worried. "What happened? You just blank out" Akeno questions "Just had a chat," Nawin replies, smiling in reassurance and grasps the Himejima's hands and bring them down "Nothing to worry."
Nawin looks forward, and his eyes widen when seeing Riser, Issei, and Koneko have Sayomi cornered from all sides while Rias stands in front, destruction orbs forming around her body. The Pureblood opens her eyes, and immediately, it glows in menace when seeing the position, she is in.
"Stop!" Nawin shouts, appearing in front of the Pureblood, a move that shock everyone while Sayomi smirk. "N-nawin," Rias utters, the destruction orbs around her slowly vanquishes "Is something wrong with your head!" Riser shouts, glaring heatedly at the Pureblood "She's the damn enemy!" "An enemy that we can't defeat!" Nawin retorts loudly, silencing the Phenex "Get it through your thick head! She's offering us to cooperate for the moment until we enter Transmere. So, I suggest you all take that and lower your weapons."
Riser clicks his tongue and grunts, the flames around him disappear. Koneko drops her glove worn hands to the side. Hesitant at first, Issei lowers his right arm and the boosted gear shatter from existence. "Transmere?" the Hyoudou repeats, looking at the Makasha "It's the place us vampire resides," Elmenhilde says, walking forward and send a stern glance at Nawin "It is now pronounced Vamhaven" "Get a better name" Nawin retorts and walks pass Rias, heading toward the beaten Andrei.
"Akame," Nawin calls out, kneeling in front of the man and not a second later, the Knight appears next to him with a vail that contains bubbling green liquid. "What is that," Elmenhilde questions, her tone holds caution "Healing potion," Akame replies and watch her King open the cork then begins pouring the liquid into the vampire's mouth.
Sayomi takes a step, and that immediately sets Rias and the rest into guard, ready for an attack. "Like that would do you all any good," the Pureblood retorts, rolling her eyes in amusement. Elmenhilde takes a few steps back when noticing Sayomi walking towards her. The prideful expression on her face shatters immediately and release with anxious. Seeing this Sayomi grin darkly which only serve to scare the girl more.
Akeno notices something, she examines her lover and sees him already stood up, eyeing the Pureblood with an unreadable gaze. Out of everyone here, he is the only one that looks most relax with Sayomi's presence, and it's honestly confusing her. She knows how much these two clashed before, knowing what Sayomi did to Asia. It is something she can't, and it is honestly bugging her.
Sayomi stops just a meter away from the girl, crossing arms under her breast. "Tell me," she speaks, eyeing Elmenhilde "Where is the gateway? I've looked around the castle and haven't sensed a trace of magic in it which is odd since when there is a gateway, there will be magic" "I-it's hidden," Elmenhilde answers, stuttering a bit by the Pureblood's strong gaze. Just everything about this woman screams supreme and power.
Taking a step forward, Sayomi's smirk widen "Then where is the key?" "Andrei holds i-it," Elmenhilde answers, averting her gaze to her still unconscious companion. Nawin glance at the man and sees all his wounds are healed thanks to the potion. "I've checked, and he's not waking up for at least another couple of hours" he answers, turning to Sayomi "You've knocked him out hard" "Because he was pathetically weak" she replies dismissively.
Elmenhilde sighs, rubbing her right arm in discomfort "With him being in this state then there's not much we can do until he awakens. We locked the gateway when we entered the human world in case of a situation like this to arise," she says, casting a quick glance at the Pureblood.
Seeing that none is speaking because of Sayomi's presence, even Rias is unable to come up with an idea of what to do. Nawin let out a sigh, scratching his head "Then let us return to the town and grab dinner there," he announces which cause many to look at him with a stun expression. "What?!" Riser exclaims, holding a disbelief expression on his face "With her?!" he points at Sayomi.
Nawin walks toward Akeno and takes her hand, which she gladly accepts and holds him firmly. "It's up to her," Nawin replies with a shrug "We got time to spare, it's near dinner, and I'm starving." Elmenhilde grits her teeth, looking at the dead corpses of the guards before reverting gaze to Sayomi. As much as she wants justice to be served, it will be naive of her to lift a finger against such an opponent. Taking a deep breath, Elmenhilde turns to Rais "Take your group back to the town and have dinner if you wish. I'll inform you when Andrei is awake, and we can proceed to Vamhaven."
Rias gives a stiff nod then turns to Sayomi "What is your plan?" she asks, her tone wavier that match with her expression "I've already explored this castle, so I'll tag along" Sayomi says then smirk "If that's fine with you?" "... Sure" Rias begrudgingly answers. The Gremory sneak a glance at Nawin, who responded with a nod, telling her it'll be fine. Trusting the Makasha's judgment, Rias turn to the rest "Let's head out, everyone."
Time Skip
After almost an hour of searching, Nawin spot a beautiful restaurant that serves traditional Romanian food. The red colored establishment holds dazzling lights in front that shines to the distance to attract customers. The name is covered in a line of bulbs, and it occasionally flickers to light, reading 'La Romana.' The restaurant has some tables placed outside in front, and that's where the group is currently seated at. Deciding to rather be outside than inside which is now crampy and loud from the tons of customers.
Silence is all heard around the table the Gremory group is sited. Reason being with an extra member that decided to tag along. Who is occupying a seat at the end of the table with Nawin sited on her right which has him be the only person near her. Akeno took a position beside her lover, on the other end, holding his right hand the whole time since they have been reunited.
Nawin lets out a mental sigh at the tense mood of the table. He can't exactly blame the group but continuing being hostile will change nothing. Taking a glance at the Pureblood, Nawin sees Sayomi staring at the distance with her chin resting on above her right hand, her expression is of that of tranquil and with the lights bouncing off her pale stunning face. It created a beautiful sight that has Nawin avert his gaze away, feeling his heart picking up a beat.
A waiter stops in front of the table and greets the group with a bright smile that shines in the now nighttime. "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!" she greets in a thick Romanian accent "Here's the menu for everyone! Please give me a call when you all have your orders" she says, placing the stack of menu down before returning inside the restaurant.
Being the two people at the end of the table, Sayomi and Rias grab an equal number of menus then passes it down to the rest. Not long after everyone has one, they begin reading through it. "Umm..." Issei blinks, noticing something amiss "The menu is in Romanian" he points out "Guess that make sense," Riser grunts out, staring at the foreign writing "This is a traditional restaurant."
"This is a problem," Rias sighs in frustration, placing the menu down "We Devils can speak and listen to any language possible but reading them isn't in the category" she states "Great" Issei groan, scratching the back of his head "I'm already getting a headache at all these unknown words." Rias turn to see Gasper being able to go through the menu without difficulty and is currently reading things out for Koneko 'Considering Gaper's past it makes sense he will be well versed in the Romanian language.'
Rias slowly turns to Sayomi and sees her going through the menu with no slight difficulty shown in those slit red eyes. 'Of course,' she averts again and blinks when seeing Nawin reading the menu without any problem, seeing his eyes scanning down in ease.
"Um, Nawin-kun" the Gremory calls out "Hmm?" he averts his eyes from the menu and looks up at her "You can read Romanian?" she asks which immediately have everyone in the table, excluding Sayomi, to look at him. Placing the menu down, Nawin gives a small nod "Yeah," he gives a short answer, not treating it like a big deal "H-how?" Issei asks, surprised by such a random fact "Did someone teach you?" Akeno questions. Nawin's eyes suddenly go cloudy by the question. A sudden flood of memory explodes in his mind, and it shows a scene, a shard of the past.
"Hehe, Sayomiii!" light and a childish voice shout for the beautiful silver-haired teenager sat on the couch, reading a book. Her peaceful expression breaks into a stunning smile when hearing her name being called out by an unmistakable voice. She closes the book and turns to see a young Nawin running towards her, holding a large book in his hand, a big adorable smile plastered on his slight chubby face.
"Yes, my dear?" she speaks, looking down at the boy "Can you teach me Romanian!" he asks which cause the Pureblood to blink a couple of time, not expecting such a request out of the blue. "Oh?" she smiles tilting her head "What has brought you this sudden interest in the Romanian language, my dear?" "Hehe, when I saw you spoke it not long ago I want to learn it!" he says, beaming "If Sayomi can speak it then I want so too!"
The smile on the Pureblood's face turn into a warm and loving one, finding the boy's words very sweet. She finally examining the book and sees it is as she expected, a book that teaches the necessary Romanian language for beginners. "I see," Sayomi nods and place her book down on the table then scoop the young boy up, placing him on her lap "Very well, I'll teach you, my dear" she whispers, cupping his cheek with her right hand "Yeah! I'll learn it quickly then we can speak Romanian together!" he says, grinning brightly "Ahaha, sounds lovely."
Nawin blinks and finds himself back at the table, feeling lots of eyes are on him. He looks up and put a convincing smile "A close... friend of mine thought me. She was well versed in Romanian language" he answers. "Oh," Rias nod "She must be a good teacher to be able to hold your undivided attention" Akeno comments, giggling "You barely give the teacher in our school much attention" "Yeah..." Nawin mutters, his smile wain ever slightly.
Wanting to change the subject, Nawin slides closer to Akeno and offer a kind smile "Since you can't read why don't we look at the menu together? If you want to know about a specific dish than just ask me" he says "Ah," Akeno grins brightly and nod "Sounds good." When his lover goes through the menu, Nawin sneaks a glance at Sayomi and sees her still focus on looking through the dishes, but he spots the faintest of a smirk on her lip.
"Awww, help your big sister too, Nawin-kun!" Rias whines childishly, waving her menu around "Yeah, we need help!" Issei adds. "Ask Sayomi," Nawin replies dismissively and immediately, the Hyoudou's grinning face shatters and replace with a scared one while Rias also look tense by suggestion.
When seeing the Hyoudou's hilarious expression, Riser leans in near his ear "I bet you don't have the balls to ask her" he whispers. Issei blinks before snapping his head to face the Phenex glaring at him, seeing that smirk on his face 'Oh I'll show him.' Letting out a nervous cough, Issei turns to Sayomi and can feel many eyes at the table looking at him. "U-um, Sayomi, c-can y-you help w-with t-the me-menu..." Riser along with the rest sweatdrops when seeing just how the Hyoudou turn into a stuttering mess. Even Gasper, who is very intimidated by a much higher being of his race can't help but let out a quiet giggle at the Hyoudou's nervousness.
Signing, Sayomi avert her eyes to the Hyoudou, which just cause him to flinch. "No," she answers and drops the menu on the table "Do it yourself and stop the stuttering before I rip your tongue out." Issei gulps and quickly brings the menu up in his face, hiding the Pureblood from his view. Nawin mentally sighs at this, shaking his head at the situation 'I know this is awkward, but none of them are making it easy' he thinks before returning attention to Akeno to help her pick a dish.
With the help of Gasper and soon Nawin, the others got their orders in and are now waiting for their dish. The uncomfortable silence returns with the group just staring at each other while Sayomi looks quietly on to the pedestrians with a tranquil expression plastered on her face, seemingly content with the silence.
Nawin for one can't deal with the silence, and he feels partially responsible with the situation since it is his idea to have Sayomi cooperate with them. Turning to the person he trusts that can turn this uncomfortable silence into something ordinary, he connects a telepathic line with him. 'Issei...' Nawin calls to his friend and the Hyoudou blinks, shifting toward his best friend 'Yeah?' 'This is unbearable, for the love of satan start talking' 'Uhh, but with her here! This is wrong, Nawin' 'And what did you want me to do about it at that time? Continue to fight and get either us beaten or killed? Do you honestly want that fate to befall on Rias and the others?' Nawin asks and receives silence 'I'm not asking you to be her new friend, just make the best out of this situation' 'Why are you putting this onto me?' 'Because out of everyone in the table I trust you the most to be able to put smiles on everyone's faces and fix this situation.'
Issei blinks by the unexpected comment from the Makashas before a small smile form on his face, his eyes lit up in determination 'Alright,' he nods, his smile widens 'Leave it to me!' 'Thanks,' Nawin replies with his own smile before cutting the link.
"So, Sayomi" Issei calls for the Pureblood that immediately garners everyone's attention while Sayomi herself glance over at her name being called, looking stoically at the Hyoudou. "I-I was wondering do Pureblood enjoy normal food? I thought full vampires only enjoy blood" he asks "That's partly true," Sayomi replies "We can enjoy typical cuisine but not survive on them... Sooner or later our thirst for blood will come, and we will need to hunt for it." "Where do you get your blood supplies?" Nawin asks "Humans and the supernatural beings of course," Sayomi replies, shifting to the Makasha with a smirk forming on her face.
Rias decides to join, finding that being silent is getting on her nerve "So you don't hunt animals?" she asks and sees the Pureblood turn to her, the smirk leaving her face "For us Pureblood animal's blood doesn't quench our thirst in a significant. It isn't worth the, and frankly, it tastes revolting" Sayomi replies in a distasteful tone "W-what d-does i-it taste l-like?" Gasper manages to ask, very curious since he never had animals' blood and being a Dhampir he doesn't need blood to survive.
Sayomi closes her eyes then opens her mouth "Think of a slice of meat that's been overcooked and doesn't have an ounce of seasoning... That's what it tastes like" she says, "That does sound disgusting," Riser assert in agreement. "Hmm," Issei's eyes gleam with curious "Oh yeah! Are you afraid of garlic?" he asks and Rias, who is seating beside him choke on her water a bit before swallowing it and place the glass down, a smile cracking on her lip.
Sayomi turns to the Hyoudou with a deadpan expression on her face, not believing such a question to enter her hearings "No you dufus, stop believing in fairy tales" she retorts which garners some chuckles around the table. Issei goes fluster by the retort but doesn't dare to give any witty replies. "Though that brings up an interesting point," Rias speak "With this fact being false, I wonder how it originated" "Probably one of my kind made this false rumor so the victims would carry garlic around instead of weapons to fool them into thinking it'll give them safe protection." "Either that or the Garlic makes them tastier" Nawin adds "Ahaha," Issei, Rias, and Riser laughs at the comment along with the rest while Sayomi wears a faint smile and lets out a light chuckle, a sound that causes the Makasha's lip to twitch upwards when hearing it.
Before the air of silence can return, the waitresses arrive at the table with everyone dishes and not long after all start digging into their food. "Oh, that looks good, Nawin-kun," Akeno says, looking at the plate full of beans with a large chunk of smoked pork hock, both creating a mouthwatering aroma. "It's delicious too," he replies and takes a slide of the pork, placing some beans in it before bringing it up to the Himejima's mouth, who smile and opens to eat the food.
"Mmm," Akeno moans at the taste and smile delightfully "Delicious!" she says "Hehe. You enjoying the Sarmale?" he asks, glancing at the cabbage rolls on the Himejima's place with a colorful yellow spice spread around artistically. "It's terrific," Akeno cuts a fair piece and brings it to Nawin for him to eat which he accepts. Chewing the cabbage and swallowing it, he smiles "Good choice, tastes lovely."
No one noticed, but Sayomi raises an eyebrow at hearing that comment 'Guess he's outgrown vegetables' she notes, before turning to her dish which is a Zacusca, an exquisite vegetable paste. 'Blah! Vegetables taste disgusting!' 'Come now, my dear. They are good for you' "Noah!' Sayomi's lip twist to a small smile at the adorable argument she remembers clearly.
Riser glance at Issei's food and sees it is an average length gilled minced meat rolls with a side of vegetables. "What's that called?" he asks "Mici!" Issei replies with a grin "Huh, that's small... Like your manhood probably" Riser comments with a that taunting smirk, and immediately, Issei snaps at him with a glare. "Shut up! My Mici is huge!" he shouts which have both Sayomi and Nawin to let out a chuckle while Gasper silently giggles.
Issei blinks when hearing the chuckles and turns toward the Makasha and Dracul "What are you two laughing at?" he asks, raising an eyebrow. Sayomi shift to Nawin, smiling faintly in amusement "Should I indulge him or you?" "I say you," he replies with his own smile. Sayomi turns to Issei "Mici in Romanian means small one" she reveals and the expression of horror form on Issei's face while Riser burst out laughing. Rias, Akeno, and the rest giggles while Nawin's smile widens in amuse.
"Mici-senpai" Koneko utters which have Issei snap toward her, a look of horror on his face increases. "No!" he shouts, pointing at the smirking Rook "No Mici-senpai! It's," he turns to Nawin and Sayomi "What's big in Romanian?" he quickly asks. Both rolls their eyes "Mare" they answer simultaneously. Issei grins in gratitude and returns to Koneko "Mare-senpai!" "Psh," Riser snort "You wish," "Shut it, Phenex!" "Make me, Mici!" "I will, Swiser!" "You dare say that name?!" "I do dare!"
Sayomi's expression starts twisting to annoyance from all the bickering and snaps to the boys "Silence!" she shouts with a booming voice that startles everyone at the table while freezing both Riser and Issei in place. "Shut up and eat your food," she says before returning to her food. Issei didn't dare reply and just silently return to eating his food while Riser begrudgingly does the same, not seeing it wise to anger the Pureblood at such a populated place.
Eating her food in silence, Akame continues to sneak a glance at Sayomi. She finds it unbelievable with how civil this dinner is performing, when their enemy is sited at the exact same table they are. But, she knows that this result is only possible because of a certain someone who is also seated at this very table. Akame shifts her glance at Nawin and sees him chatting with Akeno openly about the various topic, no longer tense and just relax even with the Pureblood seated right beside him.
Akame knows now that her king and the Pureblood is sharing some sort of past relationship and she is the only one with this knowledge. So, to her, she sees this as a sign of something changing inside her King's heart. Though, Akame isn't blind to also have not noticed Akeno picking this weird relationship her lover shares with Sayomi and sees she is having some confliction in her mind but doesn't voice it with the Pureblood being present.
Akame blinks when noticing Nawin looking at her. He gives a warm smile which she returns with her own one. Feeling that this isn't a time to dwell on the matter deeper, Akame returns to eating the delicious meal.
Time Skip
When done with their dinner, a bat came swooping down at the table to inform the group telepathically that Andrei has awakened and is set to take them to Vamhaven. Currently, all of them are heading back to Bran castle, and instead of taking the secret path they journeyed through the main path considering it is night, and very few people presently populate the route.
Sayomi walks ahead with the group following closely behind. The path to the castle has been all but silent. The realization of Sayomi being their enemy has returned to the group's mind, and each knows the moment they step into Vanhaven that will be a fact, that this temporary cooperation will shatter. Even Nawin, who's been relaxed earlier start feeling a bit tense, wondering what the Pureblood other motives in Transmere are. Does it in some way involves him or more importantly his friends.
When the group returns to the front ground of the castle, they are greeted with a large gateway made of pure blinding light. The corpses of the guards are discarded, and the only sign left of them is their dried blood on the once vibrant green grass. Elmenhilde and Andrei stood in front of the gateway while two new guards are stationed on either side.
All the vampires immediately shift to tense when seeing Sayomi advancing to them. Especially the guards, who are openly sweating at just the sight of the Pureblood. After discovering their friends, and the Queen's guard was defeated by the person responsible, they hold new fear for the silver-haired woman.
Sayomi stops right in front of Elmenhilde and Andrei, resting her right hand on her slender hip "This is the gateway?" she questions, glancing at the door of light "Yes..." Elmenhilde answers in a firm tone "We will depart to Vamhaven with this gateway."
'Now it explained why I couldn't open the gateway on my own,' Sayomi notes, eyeing the doorway 'They destroyed the old gateway and replaced it with their own.' "If the gateway is ready then we should depart" Rias speaks up, stepping in front of the group "I agree," Elmenhilde says, nodding and turn toward the door with Andrei by her side "Enter one by one instead of cramping in multiple people" she advises before going through the gateway and disappearing into the light. "Going in individually will guarantee all of us arriving at the same location" Andrei explain before entering the gateway.
Nawin sees Sayomi sending him a glance 'Tread carefully in Transmere, my dear' she warns him telepathically before turning around and goes through the gateway. Nawin's expression hardens at the warning, wondering what exactly is she implying with those words 'Will the civil war escalate?' he thinks, stopping in front of the gateway. Nawin stare at the light for a moment "See you on the other side," Akeno says by his right, wearing a supportive smile "Yeah," he replies, glancing at her and gives his smile "See you in a sec, Akeno" "Mhm-mm!" she hums in response and watch the Makasha disappear into the light.
Vamhaven
When stepping out of the gateway, what greeted the group when they step foot in this new realm is the crimson skies and the shimmering white sun in the far horizon. The specific location they arrive is on a high cliff that overlooks the city of the Carmilla. "Woah," Issei utters, stopping my ledge to have a look at the capital "Amazing," Rias whispers, stopping beside him, examining the view beneath.
Carmilla is a city made of stones and bricks, sharing appearance just like the olden Romanian buildings. Except, compared to Romanian more vibrant and bright artistic nature, Carmilla is more gritted and darker that fits well when associating with vampires. Buildings are all dark colors from black, gray, to wine-red and more.
One building though stands out from the rest and has the groups immediate attention when they catch it in their sight. A massive castle stood in the middle of the city. The structure of this castle and designs is utterly different compares to the other simpler building. If anyone were to look at this castle and examines the sharp roofs that pierce the skies, the gray and black colors, and the swarm of bats hovering above. They would instantly believe that a vampire lives in this castle.
Nawin quickly notices a certain someone is missing. Turning to Elmenhilde "Where's Sayomi?" he asks, and the group goes tense and scan around to indeed not find the Pureblood among them.
