Chapter 26

I woke up to the sight of my mate’s tan, perfectly sculpted chest; my wolf instantly purring in delight. I tilted my head to look at his peaceful, sleeping face; reaching up to press one of my hands to his cheek. He stirred; turning his head to press his lips to my palm shortly before returning to his pillow and back to sleep.

As he did; his arms around my waist tightened, trying to pull me closer, which was impossible as I realised that every part of me was already pressed up to him. I couldn’t help the smile that appeared on my face at his adorable behaviour; his lips turning up in a content grin as he clung to me, his expression as innocent and purely happy as that of a little boy clinging to his favourite teddy bear.

I could watch him all day; but my stomach decided to choose that exact moment to rumble in the most unfeminine way possible. I forced myself to pull away from my mate; managing to get out of his incredibly firm hold on me.

He stirred again as he began reaching for me; his hand roaming the bed, exactly the way it had the last time I’d left. I kissed him on the cheek, calming him immediately as he stopped squirming. I slipped out of bed as quietly as I could before brushing my teeth and jogging downstairs to find some breakfast; not bothering to change out of Logan’s clothes or try to manage my messy hair.

I piled pancake ingredients, sausages, bread and fruits into my arms; putting it all on the islands’ counter in the centre of the kitchen. I was in the middle of stirring the pancake batter when my mate’s scent hit me; closely followed by the pressure of something on my back.

It pushed me so far forward that the edge of islands’ counter bit into my lower stomach. I was pulled back before the pain could register; falling into a hard chest as strong arms wrapped around my throbbing waist from behind me. I turned my head as far as I could; peering at him from the corner of my eye. I couldn’t help but notice the relief in his face as he held me, as if he’d thought I’d left when he was asleep. Like you had the last time, my wolf reminded me.

“Good morning.” He muttered; flashing me a crooked smile that had me weak in the knees instantly.

“Morning,” I replied; trying to focus on stirring the pancakes so I wouldn’t be distracted by Logan and fall face first onto the floor. It was way harder than it should’ve been as I felt every part of his body molded onto mine from behind me. That was not helping the problem with my legs, which were already trembling as my desire for him pooled inside me.

His arms released my waist to reach out and force me to put the bowl I was holding down; twisting my body by my arms to turn me to face him. A small gasp of surprise escaped my lips as he pulled me roughly forwards without any warning and crushed his lips to mine; his hands grasping my waist tightly as he pulled me against him, his fingers biting into my skin slightly.

I didn’t do anything but tilt my head up so I could press my lips harder against his demanding ones; pulling myself closer as I grabbed his bare, broad shoulders. He tugged at my bottom lip; asking for entrance, which I gladly granted as I parted my lips. His tongue immediately pushed past them; fireworks running through my veins as his tongue collided with mine.

My wolf purred in delight as I ran my hands through my mate’s sexily messy hair. I tugged on some of the strands to get him to come closer to me; the rest of the world melting away as I concentrated on him. I couldn’t help but notice the way his body melded so perfectly against me and how his warm lips felt so right pressed up to mine.

He pushed me back until I was trapped between the kitchen island and his muscular body. He lifted me up onto the counter; carefully avoiding the bowl of batter I’d been stirring earlier, and placed me on the top surface without breaking our mind blowing kiss.

Logan pulled away when we began to starve for oxygen; both of our chests rising and falling at irregular paces as we struggled to breathe. He smirked at me; which did nothing to calm my already erratic heart. “Now that’s the right way to wish me a good morning.” He mused; running his hands up and down the sides of my body, his palms leaving my skin ablaze wherever he touched it, even through the thin fabric of his t-shirt that I wore.

His eyes ran up and down my body as he pulled my legs apart so I he could stand right in front of me. My eyes fell on his lips again, which were already slightly swollen; making what we had just been doing, painfully obvious. When my jade eyes moved up to meet his; their beautiful gray was already beginning to darken.

I buried my hands in his hair again; tugging hard to force his head down to mine. He growled; the low, alluring sound causing the muscles in my stomach to tighten. I forcefully pulled him closer again; doing the assaulting this time as I connected my lips to his. He had only begun to respond before we heard the front door open.

“Hey you two, are you awake yet!?” I heard Ethan call; just as five different scents hit me. I immediately pushed Logan back as I jumped off of the counter; the sound of his Beta’s voice snapping me out of my lust-induced haze. My mate had been so distracted that he had to grasp the counter top to stay on his feet from the force of my shove, not realising I had pushed him until his body almost smacked into the cabinets that lined the walls of the huge kitchen.

He flashed me a look. I pressed a quick kiss to his lips. “Sorry.” I whispered; grasping one side of his face. He took the bowl from the island’s counter before he gave me a quick peck on the cheek.

“No problem.” He muttered, as his lips pulled up slightly in one corner; thrusting the bowl of batter back into my hand right before Ethan, Jen, Jake, Dylan and Sam entered the kitchen.

“Hey guys!” I greeted a little too enthusiastically, which a result of my current ecstatic mood due to the kisses, as I resumed stirring the batter.

“Hey Chelsea,” my brother said; his eyes peering into the bowl. “Pancakes?” He simply asked; raising a brow.

“Mm hmm...” I replied distractedly as Logan rested his hand on my lower back; the sparks travelling up my spine.

I prayed that Jake wouldn’t notice my red lips. He didn’t; which is not what I could say about Jen. She took notice immediately; her lips turning up in a cheeky looking smirk. She sounded incredibly proud of herself when she spoke. “Is that all you two have been making in here?”

My jaw almost hit the counter. “Jen!” Ethan yelled in a mock-disapproving tone; waving his hand around in a very girly manner. “I can’t believe you just said that!” He continued; his voice going up an octave.

Sam bounced on her feet in her usual excited manner. She ignored the two siblings as she grabbed at the bowl I was holding while I gaped at Jen and Ethan; who had currently been moving with more femininity than I could. “Ooh! I love pancakes, can I help?” She asked; choosing to completely disregard the circus going on behind her.

“Sure!” I said; her voice pulling my eyes away from her mate and my best friend to focus on her smiling face. I handed the bowl over to her as I moved to fry some eggs and sausages. Logan trailed behind me to the stove. I stiffened as he leaned down to whisper in my ear from behind me.

“For the record, I would love to make all kinds of things in here with you, any day.” He whispered; his voice low and thick with lust as I heard him step forward so I could feel just how pleased he was with that idea on my lower back.

I gasped when I felt him; turning around so quickly I almost tripped. My skin buzzed with sparks as his hands grasped onto my waist to stabilise me. “Logan.” I warned; already feeling my eyes darken as my wolf began to crave what he was offering. “Don’t do that.” He smirked down at me despite my expression and pressed a quick kiss to my lips.

“Okay, okay... Seeing as that’s out of the question; what can I do to help with breakfast, Luna?” He muttered; sounding amused at his own reference of me as the female Alpha of his pack.

I turned to him. “You can go set up the table, Alpha.” I said, with the same tone. He squeezed my waist once before nodding; ordering Ethan to help him in the dining room. His Beta pressed a kiss to Sam’s lips before he left; earning an exaggerated gagging sound from Jen.

I chuckled at her behaviour. “You know, you’re going to be doing worse when you find yours.”

She just smiled in response. “I know.” She admitted right before she grinned. “Much, much worse...but definitely not in the middle of a kitchen, or maybe we should one day.” She muttered to herself. She turned to me. “How is it in the kitchen, Chels?” Jen teased. I opened my mouth to tell her I wouldn’t know when Dylan choked on the glass of milk he was drinking, some of it splashing out onto the floor.

“Hello, guys still in the room!” He grumbled between his fits of coughing as he gestured to both my brother; who had his eyes impossibly wide at the direction of our conversation, and himself. The three of us girls just laughed in response as Jake began to pat his Beta on the back; Dylan holding onto his knees as he bent over and continued to cough.

I finished frying my last sausage and put it in the pile I’d made. I handed the plate to Jake; fifteen sausages stacked on one side with the other covered in a stack of ten eggs I’d fried earlier. “Here, you can bring this out.” I took out the cartons of apple and orange juice from the fridge and pushed that into Dylan’s hand before shooing the two of them out.

They just gave me an irritated look before doing as I’d said; chatting on the way. Jen went out after them with a giant heap of toast; managing to balance that in one of her hands, her other grasping two jars of jam. Sam had just begun to make the pancakes beside me when I started on a huge pot of oatmeal.

“So, will you be staying here with Ethan?” I asked after a while; stirring the bubbling mixture as I added some spices and raisins.

“Yeah, I can’t wait to meet everyone.” She exclaimed; flipping a pancake onto a large plate beside the pan she was using to cook them. “Ethan said we’re going to do that after we have breakfast.”

“Oh, what’s happening after breakfast?” I enquired; scooping a large spoon of sugar into the pot.

“I have no idea, but that’s what he’d said.” She replied; shrugging as she placed the plate of pancakes onto her hand; her other carrying the bottle of maple syrup. I walked beside her with the oatmeal, telling Jen to get the pot of coffee I’d just brewed when we’d met her in the hallway that led to the dining room.

My eyes widened when we walked into the dining room. It was my first time in the room and I could already say with absolute certainty that I loved it. The walls were a deep red with a black carpeted floor; the white ceiling decorated with sprawling plaster mouldings which accentuated the centre where a large crystal chandelier hung right over the long mahogany dining table.

The far wall was just a huge pane of frosted glass that offered a view of the dense forest that surrounded the Alpha house; the tree tops standing out against the bright blue sky. A fire flickered in the white marble fireplace behind the chair at the head of the table; giving some warmth to the otherwise cold room. I placed the pot I’d been holding beside Sam’s stack of pancakes and sat down beside Logan, just as Jen came in with the mugs and the pot of coffee.

Most of breakfast was spent in silence; all of us choosing to focus on eating. Halfway through; I finally broke the silence as I noticed that Sam, Ethan and Jen were dressed in workout clothes. “Where are you guys heading?” I raised my brow as I asked; gesturing to their outfits.

Jen swallowed her mouthful of eggs. “We’re off to the training grounds after this. It’s the first training session of the year, aren’t you and the Alpha going?”

I turned to Logan with a questioning look. “Yeah, aren’t we going Logan?”

He shrugged as he drank half of his glass of juice. “Only if you want to.” He replied; turning to meet my eyes. “Do you?” I grinned as I nodded; excited at the thought of finally being able to train again. The last time I’d done so was months ago and as barbaric as it sounded, my wolf and I were craving some violence. He grabbed my hand underneath the table as he flashed me a small grin. “Then I guess we’re going.” He concluded, before scooping some food into his mouth; releasing my hand to lace his fingers through mine.

After breakfast, Jen and Sam offered to clear the table while Logan and I went to get ready. My mate decided to let me use his bathroom, saying that he would use one of the others on the first floor. I tried to protest, but he didn’t want to hear any of it as he grabbed his towel and walked out.

I couldn’t do anything then, so I just took a quick shower before walking out to get dressed. I got into my panties and my sports bra that thankfully survived Logan’s attack on my clothes some time ago and rummaged for something appropriate for training. All I could find were a pair of grey shorts and a plain, slightly loose, pink camisole; the others way too lacy to exercise in.

I had just slipped into them when Logan reappeared at the door. “Hey, do I look okay?” I asked sheepishly as I pulled my hair into a high ponytail; feeling odd for asking him that question. His eyes ran down the length of my entire body, before they met mine.

“No.” He muttered simply; walking into his closet to get dressed. My eyes widened at his answer. What the hell was that supposed to mean?! I growled to myself. He walked out in a pair of grey sweats and a white, body fitting muscle top. The sight of him almost made me forget my reason for being a little annoyed with him, almost.

“What do you mean ‘no’? Is it too revealing?!” I asked; tugging at the shorts to go down lower, which didn’t make a difference as the fabric kept springing up again. He walked up to me; still appearing gorgeous despite his hair still being in wet black strands that hung from his head. His hand cupped the side of my face as he leaned down towards me.

“You don’t look okay...you look beautiful. You always are.” He admitted; watching my reaction with a small smile playing on his lips. I couldn’t help the blood that rushed to my cheeks at his compliment. He just called me beautiful! I’m going to have a heart attack, oh my God! I screamed to myself. Breathe! My wolf demanded, as my lungs suddenly stopped working.

When my sight was beginning to get blurry I finally did; my mate’s scent helping to calm my thrumming heart. I gave him a small smile. “T-thanks Logan,” I stuttered; the words taking all I had to simply utter. A brighter smile appeared on his lips as he winked at me, sending my heart into overdrive again. Gosh, this boy is going to be the death of me... I grumbled. What a great way to die. My wolf mused. I couldn’t help but mentally laugh at what my wolf had just said. You’re love sick. I said to her matter-of-factly.

“No problem, Chels.” He said; intertwining my fingers with his as we walked out.

***

“Are we close?” I asked; turning to Logan in my place in the passenger seat. He stared ahead as he steered his black sports car that we were currently riding in; looking extremely relaxed with just one hand on the wheel.

***

Sam and I had said our goodbyes to Jake and Dylan before we began our journey to the training grounds. My brother had begrudgingly admitted to me that he had misjudged Logan while he had been hugging me which I’d only responded to with a smile; too guilty for lying to him to respond any other way.

Logan had nearly throttled Dylan for hugging me a second too long, but my body was conveniently the one closest to him which prevented him from doing so. Dylan couldn’t help chuckling at Logan’s reaction which led to me having to hold my mate back with an iron grin on his bicep while my brother’s Beta had rushed into the car. Everyone else had just laughed instead of helping during the whole ordeal, which had me giving them all an irritated look.

***

“Yes, we are.” Logan replied; using his thumb on the hand that was interlocked with mine on the centre console, to draw circles on the back of my hand. Panic rose in me despite the calming feeling of having my mate's skin against mine.

“Are the pack members going to be okay with having me there?” I asked a little hesitantly; playing with the hem of my top.

His hand squeezed mine reassuringly. “They’re going to love you Chelsea, just like Ethan and Jen already do. They won’t be able to help it; you’re just too easy to love.” He admitted; throwing a grin my way. My cheeks almost exploded with the blush that attacked them as warmth flooded into every fibre of my being at his words. All the nervousness faded away for a moment as what he'd said registered to me properly. He said I’m easy to love. Does he feel that way for me, too? I asked myself; seriously hoping the answer to that was a big, fat 'yes'.

Before I could ask; he stopped the car at the edge of a huge meadow lined by the dense Blood Moon forest. My heart began to beat harder at the sight before me; my earlier anxiousness returning with a vengeance. There must’ve been at least a hundred people there already; all of them watching me with curious eyes as they turned their heads to their Alpha’s car.

Logan got out of the car and came over to my side; pulling the passenger side door open as he reached his hand out for me to take. I took a shaky breath. “I guess it’s time to meet the pack.” I mumbled to myself; my voice dripping with dread and fear as the uneasiness I felt built at the sight of the pack members coming closer to get a better look at me.

“They’re going to love you Chelsea, just like Ethan and Jen already do. They won’t be able to help it; you’re just too easy to love.” Logan’s words from earlier vibrated through my mind; giving me the push I needed to snap my big girl panties into place and get my ass out of the car. Guess I’m really doing this then. I thought to myself, as I faced the members of my new pack. Please like me. I prayed, right before Logan pushed me forward.
