"Ehem... May I talk to you for a second, Trestan?" The doctor caught their attention. They left Blair and talked far away from her. The doctor put his arm on Trestan's shoulder.
"Do you like that girl, huh?" Dr. De Vega asked with a smirk on his face.
Trestan creased his forehead but Dr. De Vega just laughed at him because of his epic facial expression.
"Don't take it seriously. Haha. I'm just kidding." He said while tapping the boy's shoulder.
Trestan rolled his eyes and he was about to remove the doctor's arm but the doctor stopped him.
"Just kidding. How's your wound?"
"It's healing."
"Don't force yourself." The doctor tapped his shoulder. "By the way, I'm observing something."
Trestan didn't say anything but he was waiting for an explanation about the doctor's observation. Dr. De Vega removed his arm on Trestan's shoulder and faced him.
"I'm observing the blood of those who were injected by Dr. Garcia's antidote."
"Why? I thought it's already done."
"I'm just checking on something. I have this strange feeling that there's something we need to know about the effect of that antidote." The doctor said while holding his chin.
"Well, if you say so. I will help."
"Me too!" They both looked at Blair and they didn't even notice that she's beside them all the time. Dr. De Vega chuckled and tapped her shoulder.
"Yeah. Sure. You too." Then he looked at Trestan who just sighed. "Your Year-End Party is on Friday, right?"
"Yes, doctor. But I don't think of attending that party." Blair answered as if she was close to the doctor that she just met twice. Well, Blair is a friendly young lady.
"And why is that? Trestan doesn't want to either." Doctor De Vega informed her because he wanted to tease Trestan.
"Ah. Well, it's kind of boring but I'm sure that my uncle will force me to attend even if I don't want to." The doctor glanced at Trestan but he was busy looking at the folder he was holding.
"Trestan," The doctor called him. "How about your sister? Is her class not yet over?"
"Oh sh---" He stopped himself cursing when he saw Blair innocently looking at him.
He cleared his throat before bidding his goodbye.
"I'll go ahead." He doesn't ask if Blair was going out with him because the doctor might think that there is something between them.
"I'll gotta go then. Bye doctor!" Blair said and waved her hand to the doctor. She followed Trestan who was about to close the steel door. "Trestan! Wait up."
Trestan ignored her again. As usual.
"Hey, Blair!" Someone approached her in the hallway. It's her classmate Darren Reyes who has a crush on her.
"Hi," Blair responded.
"What color will you wear to our Year End Party?"
"Uhm... I'm not sure if I'll attend."
"Aw. Haha. Well, it's kind of boring though."
"Yeah, right. Haha."
Trestan turned his head to look at them while he was walking. He doesn't know why he felt irritated when he saw Blair laughing with a guy.
"Well, I hope you'll come. Uhm... I'll walk you to the guardhouse? Shall we?"
"Uhm..." She looked at Trestan who's far away from where she is. "Sure. Let's go."
"Alright." He was about to put his arm on her shoulder but Blair cleared her throat. "Oh. Sorry. Haha."
As they walked to the guardhouse, Trestan was lifting Cally who was too lazy to walk on her own. Blair gave them a glance and their eyes met but Trestan immediately looked away.
"Cally, you need to get down. How can I ride the bike if you're not getting down?" But Cally seemed to be in a bad mood that afternoon and tightly hugged her short arms around his older brother's neck.
"Are you sure you're fine to go home alone?" Trestan heard Darren's voice near them.
"I'm fine. I gotta go. Bye!" Blair immediately took her bike which was parked beside Trestan's. She slightly smiled at them before riding it just to get away from Darren.
"Take care!" Darren shouted while his hands were on the sides of his lips. He saw Trestan watching them unconsciously. "You have a problem, man?"
Trestan just shook his head and looked away. Darren took his bike not far from them and left the parking lot.
"Cally, listen to Kuya," Trestan said while trying to extend his patience towards her sister. Sometimes, Cally really likes that but most of the time she's always in a good mood or calm.
"I want mommy! Whele's mommy!?" Cally throws her tantrums that Trestan almost let go of her but holds her tightly to prevent her from falling.
"Cally---"
"What's happening?" Professor Zyrille just appeared somewhere.
"Ah. Professor, my sister's just in a bad mood." Trestan explained, trying not to have eye contact with the professor because of his sister, acting so stubborn.
"Mommy!" Cally stretched her arms towards the professor's direction. "Mommy!"
"Cally, she's not our mom. I'm sorry Prof---"
"No. It's okay. Can I lift her? Maybe she'll stop throwing her tantrums." Professor Zyrille said.
"But she's kind of heavy." He informed her.
"It's fine. Come here, Cally. Let me lift you." She took Cally from Trestan's arms. Little by little, the girl became calm while hugging Professor Zyrille.
"Mommy..." Cally mumbled, then she hugged the professor.
"Sorry for the trouble, Prof." Trestan apologized because of embarrassment.
"No worries."
"Cally, let's go. Daddy might be worried about us." He tried to get Cally but she didn't let go of the Professor.
"If you don't mind. I'll just take you home."
"Uhm..." Trestan doesn't know what to answer. "We have a bike. I can't leave it here."
"You can put that at the back of my car. It's a pickup so it will fit there."
"Uhm..." Trestan was hesitant.
"Don't be shy, Trestan. I won't bite." The professor chuckled. "Kidding. Let's go."
Trestan just sighed and lifted his bike to put it behind the pickup car then he entered the passenger seat beside the driver. Cally was sitting between Trestan and the Professor.
On their way to Alfarez house, Cally talked. "I want ice cleam, mommy."
"Cally, I told you, she's not our mom," Trestan whispered to her sister but she just ignored her older brother.
"You want ice cream?" The Professor talked to her in a joyful tone.
"Yes! Yes!"
"Well then. Let's grab some ice cream." Professor Zyrille sweetly smiled while driving.
They went to an ice cream shop nearby. Cally walked while holding the professor's hand. Trestan just follows and watches them.
'How many times do I have to tell her that the professor is not our mom?' He heavily sighed before sitting on a chair.
"Wait here. I'll just order you an ice cream." Professor Zyrille said, then she went to the counter. He was about to say that he doesn't want an ice cream but the professor already ordered one for him.
When the ice creams were served, Trestan was stunned and looked at the ice creams. He became emotional but immediately set aside those emotions.
His favorite dark chocolate ice cream with tiny white marshmallows on top and two Stick-O on the side. He also looked at Cally's ice cream. Her favorite strawberry flavor with colorful sprinkles on top and chocolate syrup.
'How did she know that it's our favorite?' He asked in his mind and confusion filled him.
He started eating before it melted. The professor was eating her ice cream too. She ordered like Trestan's.
The young man watched Zyrille eating and taking care of Cally. She wipes the ice cream on his sister's lips from time to time.
'She's like...'
"Mom." It was like a whisper but he caught the professor's attention.
