You woke up with a feeling of confusion. You looked around but nothing looked familiar. You were in a room you didn't know, on a bed that wasn't yours.
-Good morning. -you heard and you rubbed your eyes. Your head hurt. -Here's a glass of water. -he handed it to you.
-Thanks.
-You don't remember anything? -he asked as he sat on the bed.
-Not really, I just remember we were dancing but then...nothing, I got nothing.
-After we danced, you started to drink, a lot, you didn't want to leave the club, your brother and his girlfriend left, you didn't want to leave with them, I asked you several times where you live but you weren't talking, you had a lot of mood swings. -he giggled. -I decided to take you here until you wake up.
-Did we...? -you asked ashamed.
-Oh, no no, nothing happened, I even slept on the couch. -he pointed at the couch.
-I'm so sorry, Alan, I'm really embarassed.
-It's okay, you have nothing to worry about.
-I'm sorry but I think I'm going to go, I need to go apologize to Charles.
-Totally, I get it. -he smiled. -I'll still see you tomorrow, right? You owe me a tour.
-Of course! I'll meet you here. -you smiled.
You left the hotel and walked to your brother's apartment. It was a sunny day and you were hating your walk, you felt sick, you wanted to get to your apartment and sleep for the rest of the day. After 20 endless minutes, you arrived and knocked on his door, he opened it and examined you with his eyes.
-You look like shit. -he said and you entered.
-I feel like shit. -you sat on the couch. -I'm sorry for yesterday, Alan told me everything.
-It's okay, you were stubborn.
-I know, I selpt at Alan's hotel room, I woke up there, I didn't know what happened, where I was, anything.
-What? I trusted him, he was supposed to take you home!
-Nothing happened! He doesn't know where I live and as you said, I was stubborn.
-What happened to you? You were having a great night and then you...lost control.
-I just...I realized I want to be with Carlos, I miss him, we're friends and all but what I had and hope I still have with him is a great love. -you paused. -I don't know what came over me.
-Sis, you should tell this to Carlos, you belong together. -Charles squeezed your shoulder.
-I'll do it when I see him this weekend. -you smiled.
-Let me take you home so you can rest.
Charles drove you to your apartment, you were falling asleep on the car's seat.
-You should take a shower and then sleep. -he said arriving at your place.
-I'll definetly do that. -you opened the door. -Thanks for the ride.
-Anytime, sis, bye. -he smiled as you closed the door.
The first thing you did was to charge your phone and then you got into the shower. When you finished you put on pajamas and lay down on your bed, you closed your eyes and in a matter of seconds, you fell asleep.
When you woke up, you stayed lying there, looking at the ceiling, with a thousand things on your mind that had no order. Your mind was blank but at the same time, it was filled with a million thoughts. As close as you and Carlos are, he just wasn't a friend, he wasn't just a guy, not to you.
You wanted to tell him how you felt, you wanted to tell him you wanted to be with him, he was and will always be the one, you were sure about that but you felt like you needed more time. Lando was already in the past but you wanted some time on your own, maybe it was better to wait.
You changed clothes and went for a coffee, to clear your head and enjoy yourself. You got there and ordered your coffee. You found a seat on the terrace and got ready to enjoy your time. The sun was shining and the weather was perfect. You took a sip of your coffee and opened the book. You started reading and soon forgot about everything else. You immerse yourself in the story and felt transported to another world.
You spent hours reading, enjoying the solitude and tranquility. You felt happy and calm and you realized that sometimes the best company is your own.
You almost finished the book and you decided it was time to head back home.
