Rain moaned and rubbed her eyes as she heard the baby crying over the monitor. She had it set up where their rooms were combined, but since her and Bryson were working on the relationship they decided to get AB used to sleeping alone. It was like pulling teeth trying to get him to go to sleep in his crib after had fallen asleep in the bed with them. She threw the covers off and sat up on the edge of the bed squinting to see AB little legs kicking on the monitor. "Ok, big boy. Mama's coming" She said tiredly even though she knew he couldn't hear her. Standing up she shook her head once she saw the clock read 4:30am and Bryson still wasn't home. She normally woke up around this time to get her day started or she would be late. Huffing she pulled the covers up and propped the pillows neatly on her bed, before heading to the nursery. She wasn't a wild sleeper, so when Bryson wasn't in the bed his side didn't need to be made.
Once AB saw her it seemed like his cries got louder and he started rolling over trying to get to her. "Good morning my baby." She said smiling at him. At the sound of her voice he started to quiet down a bit, but he was still whining. "Awww....that baby need a diaper change and he hungry? I know he hungry" Rain cooed as she got a diaper and a few wipes from the warmer. She picked him up and cuddled him rubbing his back to soothe him. "Mamma got that baby boy." AB gave her a smile and started pulling at the bonnet she had on her head. "No no baby, don't pull mama bonnet." She instructed him pulling his little fists away from her. He started sucking his fists as she laid him on the changing table and cleaned him up. "Him do the stinky leg, cause he gotta stinky butt?" She smiled and sang to him. He giggled and kicked his feet while he babbled still trying to shove his fist in his mouth. She picked him up and got comfortable in the rocking chair. She laughed as he tugged at her shirt. "Ok mamma hungry baby. I gotchu." She cradled him with one hand and positioned her nipple with the other. AB quickly latched on, closed his eyes and sucked hungrily. Rain leaned back in the chair causing it to rock gently as she thought about the day ahead of her and the fact that ryson had stayed out all night for the first time since they've been messing around again. Although he'd never done anything to hurt her, she had scars from her past relationship and it was causing her to have doubts. She wasn't sure what time Bryson would be home, but she missed him already. He would normally wake up when she got the baby, start breakfast and pick out their outfits for the day. Then they would work out together and she would shower and get dressed while Bryson got the baby together, so she would be on time. Since he wasn't here she was gonna have to skip her workout and take quick shower while the baby took one of his many power naps of the day.
Once Rain noticed AB slowing down she unlatched him from her nipple burped him and switched to the opposite breast. When she noticed he was falling asleep before it was time for him to finish feeding she rubbed his cheeks and belly tickling him a bit to wake him. When he was done feeding on that side she burped him again and laid him in the crib turning on the mobile so he would stay sleep while she got in the shower.
As frustrated as she was that Bryson hadn't been home or even bothered to call or text her she pushed that to the back of her mind and begin getting ready. The only thing she wasn't comfortable doing while the baby was awake qas showering so she hurried to the bathroom, hoped in and immediately began to bath. She was out in 10 minutes, which was a record for her. She peeked at the baby to make sure he was still sleeping before grabbing the baby monitor off her side table and rushed downstairs. She was completely naked, but she wanted to get her breakfast and lunch together. She turned the oven on 475 grabbed a pan out the cabinet, 4 frozen french toast sticks, and 4 sausages from the freezer. She sprayed the pan with butter spread and put the food in the oven. Next she started her coffee maker and prefilled her favorite pink insulated cup with cream and sugar. She pulled out her oversized lunchbag and put plastic silverware and napkins in the small side pocket. She added 2 bottles of water, a bottle of sweet tea, and a redbull to the bottom pouch and zipped it. Then she grabbed her broccoli and cheddar soup from the fridge, a pack of crackers, 2 mozzarella sticks, a zip lock bag of turkey pepperoni she had pre measured and the small container of assorted fruit she prepared the night before. She zipped that in the 2nd pouch and went to the pantry where she pulled out a small bag of wheat thins, fruit snacks, some peppermints and a few pieces of worthers hard candy and put it in the top pouch zipping that as well. By the time she was done packing her lunch her coffee was finished. She poured it into the cup, stirred it and took a sip to make sure the taste was right. She took the lunchbag to the front room and set it by the diaper bag she had prepared the night before so she wouldn't forget it. Then turned the oven off and set the pan on top of the stove so it would cool.
She glanced at the clock to see it was 5:50 so she rushed upstairs to put her clothes on. While making breakfast she went over her wardrobe in her mind so she already knew what she would be wearing. She quickly put on her outfit, did her make up, took her hair out of the wrap. After checking the monitor to make sure AB was still sound asleep she went downstairs and ate her breakfast and sent her good morning texts to everyone including Bryson. While she was cleaning up her mess in the kitchen the baby started crying. Grabbing the monitor she made her way upstairs to start getting the baby ready. Since she had given a bath the night before, she just wiped him down and lotioned him, before putting on his clothes and a bib to match. Once she had everything gathered at the front door, she strapped AB in his car seat on the floor and took the bags out to the car, before coming back to get him and locked his seat into the base that stayed secured in her back seat. She smiled as she checked the time, it was 6:30, which meant she would have time to run by the coffee spot after dropping the baby off at Lisa's. She checked her phone one more time before she pulled off and to her disappointment she still hadn't received a message from Bryson.

"Yo...you a lifesaver." Johanna smiled as she read her grade on the last assignment they worked on together. "I been trying to get you to see that all along." Justin commented as he put his hand on Johanna shoulder. They had been in waiting in the small crowd that formed outside of the lab class to see the grades that were posted. "Get yo corny ass outta here." She said laughing as she pushed him playfully to move him out the way so others could see the paper posted. "Ain't man, keep playing you gone catch this fade." Justin laughed as put his hands up like he was ready to slap box with her. She smacked her lips and waved him off. "Man...you ain't even about that life." Johanna stated with a smirk on her face. "Whatever lil home, but on some real shit yo, we killed that. We should study together from now on." He said as they started walking down the hall."I mean seeing as we have 3 classes together anyway." Johanna shrugged her shoulders. "It's cool wit me. Shit..I need all the motivation I can get. I ain't trying to repeat no classes." She chuckled a bit. Part of the reason why it took her so long to enroll was because of how she saw so many people fail and eventually end up dropping out. She only wanted to go through this one time around and get her degree. She didn't have time to play. "How about we go have some lunch to celebrate." Justin offered. "It's on me this time." Jojo normally insisted on paying for herself when they had lunch together because she didn't want him to take it the wrong way. "Nah...imma have to pass this time. My mom's is making a big dinner tonight and I want to make sure I got plenty of room for seconds and dessert." She shook her head and licked her lips just thinking about her mom's food. "So the brother that helped you get the dope grade can't get an invite to this wondermous soulfood?" He asked raising his eyebrow. Johanna broke out laughing "Wondermous dude?" She asked as she bent over holding her stomach. Justin smacked his teeth. "See man, you always thinking something funny and playing around. I'm dead ass man." He informed her with a straight face. Johanna wiped at the corners of her eyes acting like she was wiping fake tears. When she saw his face she calmed down. "Alright." She chuckled. "Let me just call and make sure, but there's usually plenty to grub on cause madukes can throw down and everybody be wanting a plate when she cooks like this." Shw responded pulling out her phone. "Hey baby...how was your day." Her mother answered cheerfully. "Hey Lady, it was good. I murdered that lab exam I told you about." She told her as she unlocked her car. "I knew you would babygirl. I told you that you didn't have anything to worry about." Johanna could actually picture her mom smiling. "Yeah you did. But ma I called to ask if it was OK if I brought a guest to dinner." She put her bookbag in the passenger seat and walked around to the driver side. "You know I always make more than enough, so it's not a problem. Is this a special guest? Your friend you bringing?" She asked making Johanna roll her eyes. She was glad she didn't have her on the speaker, because Justin would've definitely loved to hear that. She knew he liked her, but she wasn't into him. She just wanted to maintain a friendship with him, after all he was fun to be around and he helped motivate her with her school work. "No mom, we study together." She put the phone down to her thigh and motioned for Justin to come over to her car. I'm about to head to my mom's now, it's about an hour drive you wanna follow me. Or I could just give you the address and you could come by later if you had plans or something." She laughed quietly as she heard her mother's voice raise, probably because she asked her a question and wasn't getting an answer. "Yeah, that cool I'll follow you." He said, heading to his car. She put the phone back up to her ear. "Ma, my bad, I dropped the phone," She lied. "Oh..well, come on baby, the foods almost done." Jojo started the car and checked to see Justin was ready to follow before she pulled off. "Alright Lady, lemme get off this phone before I get a ticket. I'm on my way now." She still had the phone to her ear and was trying to maneuver through the parking lot traffic. It seemed like everyone's classes were ended and the whole campus was leaving at the same time. "Ok, drive safe. I love you." She blew her horn at a car that cut her off. "Love you too ma." She said quickly before ending the call and throwing her phone on the passenger seat. "These muthafuckas got me fucked up." Johanna mumbled to herself as she weaved in and out of the cars to get to the exit. Once she was on the main rd she shook her head at the fact that Justin was no longer behind her, so she pulled over to wait for him. She took advantage of the time and connected her phone to her car Bluetooth so she could play pandora on her long drive. As soon as she spotted his car she blew her horn to get his attention and pulled out while turning the radio on full blast.
Normally Johanna drives extremely fast, but since Justin was following her she decided to only go 10 miles over the speed limit. When Nikki Minaj song came on the radio she got hyped. "This my shit. I came to win, to thrive, to prosper, to rise...." She sang loudly as she bobbed her head and tapped the steering wheel to the beat.
Halfway to her mother's house the gas light came on. She turned her signal on to let Justin know she was getting off the expressway and took the next exit. Once she spotted a has station she pulled in and hopped out the car quickly heading to the store. She had to use the bathroom, but didn't like going in public places so she was gonna wait till she got to her mom's.
She grabbed a Dr.Pepper from the cooler and walked down each isle to see if she could find something to snack on. When she reached for the Jolly Rancher gummies Justin called to her."Ey, you got road rage lil homie." He chuckled and grabbed a gummy bears. "Whatever dude. Its not my fault mufuckas can't drive." She said shaking her head and walked by him heading to the register. "Let me get $45 on 2 and one of those black Bic lighters" She told the attendant putting her things on the counter. "And let me get $25 on 4." Justin said pushing her aside as he handed his card to the girl. "You ain't gotta do that, I can pay for my stuff." Jojo protested as she pulled out two $50 bills trying to hand it to the attendant. "So...is this gonna be all together or separate." The girl asked looking back and forth between Johanna and Justin. "Man...I got it. You good." He pushed Johanna hand down and signaled for the girl to ring up everything together. Johanna put her money up and shrugged her shoulders. "Cool, thanks." They grabbed their items and went to gas pumps. Justin pumped Johanna gas before he filled his own tank and they were back on their way.

"Alright Lady, what's up?" Rain asked with one eyebrow raised. Torian had them sitting at table with huge spread. Roast, fried chicken,garlic and butter potatoes, green beans with turkey neckbones, yams,baked macaroni and cheese, cabbage, southern baked beans, dressing, giblets gravy and cornbread. She had invited her 3 sisters, Rain, Johanna, Malik, Khali, Chad, Kandace, Bryson, and Regina (who made up an excuse not to come). "What you talking about honey?" She asked as she took the seat at the head of the large dinning room table. Rain stretched her her arm out from left to right pointing to the huge spread of food. "All this.....thanksgiving type cooking you did.....all of the family together....it's not Sunday, a holiday, anyone's birthday or any other known celebration, so I was wondering what's behind it?" She concluded hunching her shoulders. Almost everyone at the table nodded thier heads in agreement. Torian looked around with a huge smile on her face. "The occasion is love....getting together with the family and enjoying each other while we still can. Everything that this family has been through the past year is more than enough to celebrate that were still standing strong honey. " She looked around the table at all her family "Does anyone object to that." "Nope" "Nah" "Not at all" "You right mama" everyone responded at the same time. "Alright then! Now Teegan Rain..since your in such a talkative and outspoken mood tonight....how about you say grace." Rain chuckled before bowing her and saying a prayer over the family and the food. Johanna was the first person to dig in. She started off with a huge scoop of the baked macaroni and cheese. "Dang, I guess imma have to make my own plate huh?" Justin said when he noticed her plate was full and she had started eating. "Boy...I am not your woman, and my momma already told you to make yourself at home." She said with a mouthful of dressing. He shook his head and begin filling his plate as well. Everyone laughed and joked during dinner and when Torian brought out the peach cobbler, apple pie and vanilla bean ice cream the dinningroom was quite. The only thing you heard was the silverware scrape against the dishes.
