Chuck: Hurry! We can't keep the gate open long. You have to leave immediately before there's a power failure!
Vanilla, Spark, Cream and Cheese stepped in first.
Vanilla: Thank you for everything!
Cream: It was nice knowing you! Bye-bye!
Cheese: Chao! Chao!
Spark: May our meet again one day!
Then Amy.
Amy: Thank you all.
Then Tails and the Tornado.
Tails: It's been a blast!
Chris: (Thinking: Goodbye, Cream, Amy, Tails. I'll never forget you.)
With Rouge.
She gave Topaz a green broach.
Rouge: Take this before I change my mind. When I saw that gem in the jewelry store, I had to get it for you. It was a steal. See ya.
Rouge went through the portal and Topaz started to cry to be comforted by Tanaka. Then it was Knuckles turn.
Knuckles: Soon, will be back home, guys. Back home.
Sonic chuckled while Y/n smiled and nodded.
Knuckles: Let's go.
Knuckles stepped through the portal.
Sonic: Mm. Okay.
They were about to go in to.
Chris: Sonic? Y/n?
Sonic/Y/n: Huh?
Chris walked closer to them.
Chris: Well, guys...
Sonic: Chris.
Chris: This is it.
Y/n: Yeah, we had a good run.
Chris shook both there hands.
Chris: You two are my best friends. It's been cool. I'm glad we met.
Y/n: I could say the same.
Chris: (Thinking: Why do you two have to leave? There must be another way to solve this problem.) Bye, guys, and good luck.
They gave each other a thumbs up.
Chris: (Thinking: No! Please don't go!)
Helen: (Thinking: Y/n, I can't stay here and just think about what will happen to you.)
The two hedgehogs were about to go through the portal.
Chris: (Thinking: I can't let you leave!)
Helen: (Thinking: I won't let you do that to yourself!)
Chris shut the portal down, leaving everyone in shock.
Chris: Sonic!
Chris took Sonic by the wrist and ran off with him.
Chuck/Y/n: Chris!
Helen: Y/n, please!
She tried to move forward, but she fell out of your wheelchair.
Danny/Francis: Helen!
Helen: Please, Y/n. Don't go! You can't be punished, you changed.
Helen tried to get up.
Helen: Even if I have to stand now, I won't let it happen!
She got on one knee and finally stood up to everyone's shock.
Helen: Y/n, I can-
She was about to fall again, but Y/n caught her with his back and ran off after Chris and Sonic.
Danny: Did anyone else see Helen stand?
Y/n and Helen finally caught up to Chris and Sonic.
Sonic: Chris!
Sonic took the lead.
Chris: Sonic?
Y/n: Helen, can you stand.
Helen: I can try.
Chaos: Don't over do it.
Helen ran while Y/n held her hand as the five ran into the night.
With Chuck.
He was talking with Ella and Chris's parents.
Chuck: I hope that boy comes to his senses before it's too late!
Ella: I still can't believe that Helen girl stood up.
Chuck: Can't believe Y/n was actually able to pull it off.
Topaz and Tanaka came back from searching.
Ella: Are they-?
Tanaka: We could not find them anywhere.
Topaz: We'll never find them now without help. The police will have to set up a large-scale search. As you know, this is serious. We have to find them quickly.
Chuck: Yes. We don't have much time to cause Chaos Control and send Sonic, Y/n and Chaos back. Soon, the melting of our two worlds will cause time to slow to a stop.
It was the next day and the gang of five were walking through a town.
Chris: What do we do now.
Sonic: I don't know.
Chris: Well, we can't go back home.
Y/n: No matter what happens now, we're fugitives.
Helen: How are you so calm about it, Y/n?
Y/n: This isn't my first time on the run.
Sonic: Yeah, how exactly are you walking now, Helen?
Chaos: See, we did a special surgery that allowed me to go into Helen's skeletal structure to fix the part of the legs that weren't working.
Sonic: Sounds pretty complicated.
Chris: At least I don't have to be the only human fugitive now. We-
Chris noticed an old bike.
Chris: Hey, guys, look!
Chris road on the bike with Sonic laying on the back while Y/n ran next to them with Helen on his back.
Chris: How far should we go, guys.
Sonic: We can go as far as you want to, Chris.
Y/n: Honestly, as long as you two are there, I don't care where I am.
Helen: Aw.
Chris: Okay.
They were now in a desert.
Chris: We have to stop somewhere.
Helen: Not to be a bother, but this heat is killing me.
Sonic: I usually just keep runnin' 'til I find someplace I like. The best trips are the ones you don't plan. Not knowing where you'll end up is part of the adventure.
Y/n: Hey, I think I see a diner up ahead!
Sonic: I could eat.
They all went inside to grab a drink and something to eat. Sonic sat with Chris on the left side while Y/n, Chaos and Helen sat across from them.
Chris: You know, the world sure seems big when you can go anyplace. Are you sure there's no place you two wanna go to?
Sonic: I think I've already gone every place I want to go.
Chris: Right, I forgot how much you like to travel, Sonic. You probably ran across the whole planet already.
Sonic: That's why I'm happy to go wherever you say, Chris.
Helen: What about you, Y/n and Chaos?
Y/n: As long as you're there, I'll be fine.
Chaos: And anywhere Y/n goes, I go.
Y/n: But tell us, what's it like to finally be out of that wheelchair?
Helen: It's like I've been freed from some of cage. Right now, I want to go somewhere wide where I can run around.
Chris: Okay. Well, let's see, the beach is definitely out. The desert's too hot.
The guy at the counter of the diner turned on the TV which was on the News.
Newscaster: This is an SXN update. Sonic and Y/n the Hedgehog were both abducted. Authorities are looking for this boy, Christopher Thorndyke. The only child of corporate tycoon Nelson Thorndyke and actress Lindsay Thorndyke. Along with this girl that was believed to be paralyzed, but by miracle could stand up, Helen. The Thorndyke's along with Helen's parents have issued this emotional plea.
Lindsay: Chris, darling! Your father and I are worried about you! Please come home.
Helen's mom: Helen dear, please come back! We miss you. And we need to know if you really can walk now.
They were back on the road.
Chris: When you have famous parents, you can't do anything without the world finding out.
Helen: And you can't truly escape parents who you mean the world to.
Sonic: Must be pretty worried.
Chris: Oh yeah? How come they're not worried when I need 'em to be?
Helen: I agree.
Chris: (Thinking: Sonic and Y/n don't seem worried either. Maybe I should go back.)
Helen: (Thinking: Man, who knew hedgehogs had such great composers?) Hey, if we're running around the world, would you mind telling me a bit more about the Thunderhogs?
Chaos: I got this one. An interesting fact is that Y/n and Spark were born into the main branch.
Chris: The Thunderhogs have branches?
Chaos: Four to be exact. The main branch is the most powerful and the ones who are meant to be head of the Thunderhogs. Going by Lord number head you are or "Lord Thunderhog."
Sonic: What number would Y/n be?
Chaos: The 28th.
Helen: Well, now that rates the question. Which do you prefer? Lord 28th, Lord Thunderhog, or Lord Y/n.
Y/n: Oh, Helen. You can call me whatever you want.
Sonic: Well, I'm going to call you "light blue lightning man."
Y/n: Call me that ever and it will be your funeral.
They heard whirring behind them and when they turned around they saw three helicopters.
Chris: Ah! Those are my dad's!
Sonic: Well, Chris, you give up?
Y/n: You ready to call it quits, Helen?
Chris/Helen: No.
Sonic: Okay, then wait right here.
Sonic ran up ahead to stop a truck that was passing by.
Sonic: Can you give us a lift?
They ditched the bike and got into the truck. Chris and Helen were up front while Sonic, Y/n and Chaos were in the back laying on hay. They completely avoided the helicopters.
Later.
They stopped near a forest.
Chris: Thanks again, bye.
Sonic: Bye.
Helen: Have a safe trip.
They waved the truck goodbye as it drove off.
Chris: Let's go.
He walked into the forest.
Helen: Right.
They followed after him and went into the forest. They walked for a bit until they were now walking on a railroad.
Chris: Sonic, have you ever been to this place before?
Sonic: I might have run passed it once.
Chris: It's pretty easy to forget. You move so fast and you've been so many places. Maybe you'll forget about me someday too.
Sonic: I do forget, but it'd be impossible for me to forget you.
Chris: You mean it?
Sonic: Of course I do. How could I forget somebody who's got me in so much trouble?
Y/n: Yeah, you and Helen are kind of the reason we're doing this.
Helen: So, this is the life of a fugitive. How did you survive it, Y/n?
Y/n: I'd be lying if I said it was easy. But at least I now have you, Chaos and Chris.
Sonic: What about me?
Y/n: What about you?
Sonic: If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have met any of these guys.
Y/n: Oh, you want to go there?
A little later.
They were taking a short break and eating crackers.
Chris: Guess everybody's lookin' for us.
Sonic: We won't be too easy to find. It's a big planet.
Y/n: And were really small compared it to it.
Chris: Yeah, we could hide out for a long time. They might stop looking for us. Even... my family.
Helen: If we do hide out, we'll have to do something for resources.
Y/n: One of us will go out for those while the others wait for them.
Chris got up.
Chris: Let's go.
They were on the move again and eventually got to a waterfall which they used stones to climb it.
Helen: I've never climbed before.
Y/n: It's okay to be nervous.
Chaos: Just start out slow and steady.
Y/n: And if you fall, we'll be sure to catch you.
They all started climbing and they eventually got to the top and then walked up a hill. Chris and Helen started running. Helen out of wanting to try running while Chris out of frustration. Chris tripped while Helen stumbled a bit.
Sonic/Y/n/Chaos: Chris/Helen!
Sonic checked on Chris while Y/n and Chaos helped Helen stand.
Y/n: Don't rush things, Helen. You're still getting the hang of just walking.
Helen: Sorry.
Sonic: Here, let me give you a hand.
Chris: I don't need a hand, I can do it myself. Come on!
He ran ahead and he gasped at the sight over a cliff. The others followed and also gasped.
Sonic: I've never been here before.
The view was a beautiful lake.
Helen: This place is so beautiful.
Chaos: Would it be appropriate for me to cry right now?
Y/n: Not at all.
Sonic: How'd you know about this place?
At the Thorndyke residence.
Nelson was screaming at someone over the phone while Lindsey was crying in a chair.
Nelson: I don't understand what's taking you so long! Do you have all our choppers searching? Well, then buy some more! Call up the Air Force! Rent some of their planes too! Put the business on hold! I want the entire company working on this 24/7 until Chris and that girl are found. I don't care how much you costs. I just want my son found now!
Lindsey: Nelson, let's broadcast a message that Chris can have whatever he wants if he comes home. Call the toy store and tell them to send one of everything.
Nelson: Hey, I have a better idea. Let's buy Chris his own toy store!
Lindsey: I hope this works. I want Chris back.
Helen's parents walked in.
Helen's dad: Have you found our daughter yet?
Nelson: I'm afraid not.
Helen's mom: Oh, maybe she'll come back if I buy her a bag of her favorite candy.
Lindsey: You're thinking too small.
Helen's dad: You're right, we need a box of it.
Chuck suddenly burst in.
Chuck: what do you think you're doing? Put that phone down, Nelson. Do it.
Nelson nodded and put the phone away.
Chuck: You're making a big mistake, son. You can't rely on your corporate Empire to bring your son back home, the same with you two trying to use the money of your hard jobs to get your daughter back, because that's part of what's driving them away. You won't convince Chris or Helen to return until you understand the reason why they left in the first place. Now, why do you think Chris and Helen ran off? Was it only because of Sonic and Y/n? Or were they afraid that when their friends left they'd be all alone again like they were before? You won't get Chris or Helen back unless you prove you want to be together as a family.
Nelson: But how?
Lindsey: What should we do? We'll do anything to find Chris.
Helen's parents: As will we to get Helen back.
Chuck: Well, you don't have to use fleets the helicopters or bribe them with toys and candy on TV. They want to be found... not by government forces or by your employees or by your money, but by their mothers and fathers. My guess is that Chris is someplace he knows you can find him. And Helen who is just following him will surely be there too. Go there. Before it's too late.
With the group.
The sun was setting when they reached a cabin near the lake.
Sonic: You know this place?
Chris: Yeah. I used to come here every summer with my mom and dad when I was a little kid.
Helen: It sure is nice here.
They reached a locked door that Chris tried to open.
Chris: It's no use.
Y/n: Step aside.
Y/n slashed the lock in half and opened the door.
Y/n: There we go.
They all stepped in and saw lots of covered furniture.
Chris: One year we just stopped coming. They kept saying we'd come back the next summer, but they were always too busy.
Y/n: At least you went somewhere during summer, my father told me never to leave the border of our Village until I was fifteen.
Later at night.
Chris: Hey, guys! I collected some firewood.
Chris tripped and nearly dropped the wood, but Sonic caught Chris and the wood.
Sonic: You okay, Chris?
Chris: I'm fine.
Sonic: Want some help?
Chris: No thanks. I can do it myself.
Sonic: Okay.
Chris: (Thinking: Sonic and Y/n are probably mad that I stopped them from going home. I wonder why he came with me? And why did Helen follow us?)
Helen and Y/n were collecting water.
Y/n: This water's drinkable, so we can use it to make tea.
Helen: Okay.
Helen started putting water in a tea kettle.
Helen: (Thinking: Why isn't he mad? Doesn't he hate me for separating him from Cream and uncle. Or maybe he's grateful that I'm not making him pay.)
They boiled the kettle over the fire as they all sat around it.
Chris: Sonic, Y/n, Chaos.
Sonic: Hmm?
Chris: None of you have said anything about how I kept you from going home.
Sonic: I was waiting to hear what you had to say.
Chris: Sonic, why did you come with me? Are you gonna stay?
Sonic: That's up to you.
Chris: So, if I say, " I don't want you to go back home," will you stay here with me forever?
Sonic: I'll do whatever you tell me to do. You saved me when I first came to this world.
Chris' got angry and stood up.
Chris: So that's it! You've been acting like my friend all this time 'cause you thought you owed me!
Sonic: That's not true.
Chris: You felt like you had to be my friend 'cause I pulled you out of that pool! And you paid me back by pretending to be my friend.
Helen: Chris.
Sonic: No, Chris. You know that I really am your friend.
Chris: You are?
Sonic: If you need me to stay here with you, then I will. You just have to decide. It's up to you. I can go or stay. The decision is yours, Chris.
Helen: Wait, Y/n, you haven't said a single thing. Do you hate me for taking Cream and your uncle from you?
Y/n looked at her.
Helen: I'll understand if you do.
Y/n: (sigh) I don't hate you, Helen. I could never hate you. I stayed because a part of me wanted to be with you for a bit longer, at least until you walked. Now, why did you want me to stay.
Helen: I also wanted to spend more time with you and I didn't want you to get punished no matter how much you think you deserve it.
Sonic: A punishment? Oh, you didn't know.
Y/n: About what?
Sonic: Well, we all talked about it and we decided Mobius should give Y/n a second chance like we did.
Chaos: Really?
Sonic: Yeah. Vanilla was going to adopt him, he'd be given a home with Cream and Vanilla with his uncle visiting occasionally, and the only thing he'd have to do in return is be one of Mobius's heroes.
Y/n, Chaos and Helen were taken aback by everything Sonic said.
Helen: So, Y/n could've had a normal life and I took it from him?
Sonic: Pretty much.
Helen started to tear up then hugged Y/n.
Helen: Y/n, I'm so sorry!
Y/n patted her back.
Y/n: It's okay. It's okay.
Helen broke the hug.
Helen: If you want to go back, I give you permission.
Y/n: What about you, Chris?
Chris: Well, I'm not sure. I'd be happier if you two stayed in this world. If time does stop, we could stay here forever. Our friendship would never have to end.
Helen: But think of how that'll affect everyone else, Chris.
Chris: I know. Sonic, Y/n, Chaos, don't stay here if it's gonna make you three unhappy.
Sonic: Oh. Don't worry about me. As long as there's somewhere to run... (started running around) I'll be happy.
He stopped.
Sonic: I really wouldn't mind stayin' here with ya. Honest.
Chris: But you can't stay here, Sonic. It wouldn't be right, would it? I can't let time stop. Just 'cause I don't wanna lose your friendship. It was wrong of me to try and keep you in this world.
Chris was beginning to tear up.
Chris: It's just- I wasn't ready to say goodbye yet. You guys have always been there for me when I needed you. But in the end, I let you down. I'm sorry. I was just selfish.
He dropped to his knees.
Chris: Please forgive me.
Helen: Chris.
Sonic walked over to him.
Sonic: Hey, no tears.
Chris: When you're gone, I'll be alone again like I was before you came.
Y/n: You won't be alone. You'll have Ella and Mr. Tanaka.
Chris: People who were paid to do it don't count.
Y/n: What about your grandfather?
Helen: And me? Didn't I come with you and stuck with you?
Chris: You don't get it. Ever since I was little, I've been waiting for friends like Sonic and Y/n. It's just so hard to say goodbye.
Sonic: Maybe this isn't goodbye.
Chris: Huh?
Sonic: Maybe our worlds Were Meant to come together somehow! If that's true, then we will see each other again...someday.
Chris: Someday.
Y/n: Then that is what I'll work on.
Helen: Huh?
Y/n: I'll build a machine that will bring us back here and I'll make sure time stopping doesn't become a problem anymore.
Sonic: In the meantime, whenever we miss each other, we can look at the moon. It looks the same from both worlds, you know.
Later.
Chris and Helen's parents found Chris and Helen looking up at the moon.
Nelson/Lindsey: Chris!
Helen's parents: Helen!
Back on Mobius.
Y/n was sitting in front of the rabbits.
Y/n: And that's why it took me so long to get here.
Vanilla: Well, I understand now.
Cream went to Y/n and hugged him.
Cream: The important thing now is that you're here.
Vanilla: But what happened to Sonic?
Y/n: No clue. One second we were together, then the next, I'm here with Sonic nowhere in sight, Mrs. Vanilla.
Vanilla: Please, you can just call me "mom." Or "mother." If you prefer.
Y/n: Mother?
Vanilla: Exactly. Now, your room is at the end of the hallway. You get some sleep while I tell your uncle the news.
She was about to leave but not before giving Y/n a kiss on the forehead. Y/n walked to his room with his face red and laid on his bed.
Chaos: This certainly has been eventful day, hasn't it, My Lord?
Y/n: My Lord? What happened to Y/n?
Chaos: Lord Y/n if you prefer.
Y/n: Whatever. If it's all the same to you, I would like to get some sleep.
Chaos: Certainly, My Lord.
Y/n started to drift off to sleep.
Y/n: (Thinking: Wonder what tomorrow will bring? I hope you come back soon, Sonic. I don't know how long I can do this job by myself.)
He then fell asleep.
