Y/n's pov.
" That's the last of 'em " I grab the long handle of my battle axe and pull it off this tree stump.
" Your cheating, you got a big axe and mine's a pity axe " I turn around to the woman who's holding her axe.
She stand up from the log and stretches her arm up and I snicker.
" I'm not cheating, Syrene, my grandad gave me this and you got that from his shed " I said, she turns to me with her green emerald eyes then look at me with a smirk, swinging the axe as it hit the ground.
" We both know you helped me steal it " she smiles as her platinum blonde hair is blown by the wind.
I roll my eyes and shake my head as I put my battle axe on the ground, I pick up the firewood I just chopped and toss it to the fire in the middle.
" Where's Nia? " I asked as I walk up to her and she pass me my canister water.
" Here " I look over my shoulder and see the girl with brunette hair and purple amethyst eyes.
" I'm here too! " Her twin then run over here almost tripping but Nia grabbed her arm.
" Lisa " Nia playfully hit her.
" Ow! " Lisa rub her arm before hugging her bow while her quiver of arrows is on her back, so did Nia.
" We went to get food " Nia holds up a hare that is pierced through an arrow.
" Heidi's bathing though " Lisa said.
She already gutted and cleaned it.
" Gia's not here " Syrene said.
" Here now " I look to my left where the rustling sound is and see a girl walking out of the woods while adjusting her belt.
" Sorry, I needed to relieve " she said.
I drink my water which somehow tasted a little bitter and close it up before I toss it to my bag.
" This was a tough one, probably lost a few arrows back there " Nia start roasting it on the fire.
" We're just hours away from home and we can enjoy apple pie from my mom " I sit down on my log as Gia sat next to me.
Lisa and Nia takes seat beside Syrene.
" You guys think the city has a better view of the sunset? " Syrene asked.
" It's the golden hour, of course it does, it's also the city, probably has a lot of view there " Lisa said.
" I meant was if there was a spot to look at the sunset from a higher place " Syrene said.
" Yes, would you guys imagine?, The golden hour and watching the sun setting while you lovers arms " Nia said.
" Ew " Syrene said.
I suddenly felt an inch in my throat as I clear it.
" You alright? " Gia asked, I nodded.
" It's getting scratchy " I said then swallow a lump in my throat but suddenly a sharp pain occur.
I cough and cover my mouth.
" Whoa, Y/n " Gia pat my back and I shake my head.
" I'm fine " I grab my water canister.
I drink it when it somehow made it worse, gradually I start coughing more until blood just spews out.
" Oh my god!, Y/n! " Gia holds my arm when I fall on my knees.
" What the hell is happening? " I look down at my bloody hand.
" Syrene there's some potions in my bag " Gia said.
I look up at them as they sit still and Syrene has a smirk.
" Syrene my bag! " Gia said.
" And they say she's the smartest of them all " Syrene leans back with her leg over the other.
" They made me poison your drink " Lisa said hesitantly and I look down at my canister that I dropped and see the water color is a little different.
" What the hell?! " Gia gets up and grab her bag.
It's when a dagger slit across her throat from behind.
" Gia! " I shout and I cough more.
She holds her neck as she falls backwards and blood gurgles out of her mouth, I crawl to her. I look up at the woman with red auburn hair and light blue eyes.
" Took you long enough, Heidi " Syrene said.
" I was actually taking a bath " she said.
I focus back down at Gia and cough but try to hold it in as I put pressure on her neck.
" Why are you doing this?! " I asked as tears stream down my face.
" I grab a bitch, I kill the bitch, this is for stepping all over me " Syrene smirks.
" Gia " I cry as her hands looses grip around her own wound.
" Relax, you'll join her after since you are poisoned after all " Syrene said.
My throat starts getting scratchy more and I back away from Gia as I cough again with more blood this time and I ended up vomit it out to the ground.
" This should tell you that no one messes with me without getting messed up " Syrene said.
" Your the bitch " I said.
" Can we stop now?, I don't like this " Lisa said.
" Shut up Lisa, Nia pack up " Heidi said.
I turn my head and watch as the twins walk away with their stuff, my eyes then averted to my battle axe far away from me.
" What are you waiting for?, Finish me then " I said.
" Oh we're just waiting for you to be in a state where we know you won't make it and then we'll be on our way home " Syrene said.
I started gasping for air and I couldn't hold myself up and collapse on the ground, turn on my back as the pressure on my chest was heavy my airway felt constricted.
" There we go " Syrene gets up and she hover over me.
" Don't worry, we'll tell your mom you died a tragic death, she was fighting for her life and we tried but she couldn't hold it, and fell off a cliff " she smiles.
I couldn't take out any words and she walks away with a chuckle, I see Heidi put out the fire and pick up her satchel, she kneels down next to me and her hand holds my wrist where the silver owl cuff bracelet is.
" Don't " I grab her hand and she looks at me as tears are down my face.
" Let me die. . .with it " I said.
" We need proof you died " she said.
" Why? " I asked as more tears stream down my face.
" Syrene had us all convinced, I'm sorry about Gia " she said put down my hand.
" Heidi let's go! " Nia shouts.
" Hold on! " Heidi shouts back and I see her hand going through Gia's bag.
" Which one? " She whispers as she takes out three bottles of elixir with different colors.
" Bl-blue " I managed.
She puts back the others then open the cork and pour the concoction down my throat. It hurts a little and she gently put my head down on the ground.
" I'm sorry, but it's better if you don't come back home " she said.
I grab her hand again before she gets up, she looks down at me.
" My locket " I said.
She nods and take it off my neck.
" Give it to. . .the boys " I said, she nods again.
" I will " she gets up and grab her stuff before running off.
I lie here with difficulty of breathing and look up at the orange sky that is about to turn to night and the cold slowly taking over my body since they put out the fire. I turn my head to Gia next to me who's neck is covered in blood and already pale, tears stream down the side of my face as I attempt to reach for her hand but I'm a little too far from her.
" I love you "
~ Time Skip ~
I gasp for air as my body jolted and the first thing I hear is a feminine scream as I look to my right and see a man still screaming looking at me.
" Shut the fuck up! " I said.
He covers his mouth as his green emerald eyes look at me like he's horrified and his platinum blonde hair is being blown by the light wind of this forest.
" What happened?! " I look up and see two more guys running here as they both slow down.
" Whoa " they said.
" She's back from the dead! " The guy beside me said.
" We can see that, Travis " says the guy with light brown hair and sky blue eyes.
I then felt something come up my throat and I bend down as I puke it out, once I was done I wipe my lips.
" I'm sorry Laurence but this. . .thIS IS NECROMANCY " Travis grabs my face and turn to them.
I roll my eyes and elbow him as he grunt collapsing to the ground squeaking like a mouse.
" Don't touch me " I said and got up from the ground.
I stand here catching my balance as I realize some of my accessories are taken off and I back at the Travis guy to see he had put it all in a box that's still open, I look around and notice Gia is not here.
" Where's the other girl? " I face the other two guys.
" She's dead, we're burying her and about to bury you but. . .your standing there " the blue hair guy points at me, he ahs navy blue eyes as well.
" What's your name? " Laurence asked.
" Who are you guys? " I asked.
" We're the guys trying to respect the dead " Travis sits up rubbing his stomach.
I roll my eyes and see my battle axe next to me so I grab it and swing at him.
" I meant your identity " I point and he put his hands up.
" We're students " he simply said.
" Whoa!, There's no need for that! " Laurence approach me and I glare at him as he steps back.
" Or I can stand here " he said.
" Who's students? " I asked.
" My students "
My axe was suddenly flown off my grip and I turn around to where it lands on someone's hand. A woman stands there and with her dark blue cloak around her, a circlet with a red gem in the middle while she holds a staff on another hand, her light brown hair is long and braided individually in strands, and her green emerald eyes look at me brightly.
" Your a witch " I said as she approaches and I stand still.
" I apologize for the boys rude manners but we were passing by and saw you and your sister lying lifeless " she then holds my axe in front of me as I take it.
" We thought to give you a proper burial and not let you rot than being eaten by critters " she said.
" How'd you know she was my sister? " I asked.
" The matching satchels " she said and I look down at the ground where our bags are.
" Where'd you bury her? " I asked.
" Down the hill, we've marked it don't worry, she's in peace " she said.
" Mrs. Zvahl, we should get going actually, it's almost midday " said the guy with blue hair.
" It's alright Dante, we still have time, as for you, care to join us? " She turns to me.
" I don't know you " I said.
" No, but would you like a place to stay?, I take the hint whoever did this doesn't welcome you anymore " she said.
She's right, if I go back home which I assume Syrene already made it and told everyone Gia and I are dead. They'll think I'm a ghost or something, plus I can't face my parents to what I did.
" Where will I stay? " I asked.
" Clean yourself up first, take your time at your sisters grave if you'd like, then I'll explain our journey to our place "
She takes out a piece of cloth and I take it

~ Time Skip ~
I hold Gia's rings and put them on my ring and middle finger, seems like Heidi took Gia's other ring which is the family heirloom. I also put on my bracelet and my hair up nicely, I got up from the ground from Gia's grave and pick up my battle axe, attaching in on my back before I pick up the automatic crossbow which is Gia's.
I don't know how to use this.
I pick up my bag and carry the crossbow by hand since I don't know where else to put it. I look down at the marked grave one last time where I've placed the only flower I could find in this forest, a daisy.
" I'll get them back, more stronger this time " I said then walk away.
I approach the road where I see two horses and a wagon.
" Come on " I see Laurence approach me and about to take the crossbow but I step back.
" Easy, I'll put it away for you " he said.
I look down at it and hesitate at first but give it to him, he takes it and I watch as he out it in the wagon they're carrying. I took a peek and saw stacks of books being tied together, I see Mrs. Zvahl mount her horse carrying the wagon and Laurence turns to me.
" Get on the back " he said.
I head over and stand here as I watch Travis and Dante shoving each other.
" I'll help you– "
" No I will! " Dante shoves Travis.
" If you want to shut them up, just kick 'em " Laurence said.
" Are they always like this? " I asked.
" Yes and no " he said, I sigh and get on the wagon myself.
" You'll live, although condolences to you, I can't imagine what your feeling right now but don't worry we'll be taking you to Yoviel, where are you from? " He asked.
" I live there, Yoviel, there's a small village on the outer lands called Kaigon " I said.
" It's a big kingdom, I've never been there, what about you?, Ever been to the city? " He asked, I shake my head.
" Like I said, our village is on the outer lands, the only time I travel was to get supplies from beyond the boarders, it's closer, we learn from parents not school " I said, he snickers.
" I guess that explains the elixir you took was strong but old school, almost didn't work on you " he said.
" It's a traditional elixir, it was given " I said.
" Again don't worry, where we're headed it's a good place, lots of people and maybe more potions " he said, I smile.
" You guys go to school? " I asked.
" And you don't–. . .oh right, village girl " he said, I chuckle.
Laurence put up the secure end.
" Y/n " I said.
" What? " He looks at me in confusion.
" My name is Y/n "
Here's a start of the book and I gotta say it was tough, but oh well first book of 2023!, Also I'd you notice no *play song* at the beginning because starting from this book there won't be any of it anymore.
