We finish our lunch and Jai falls asleep on the sofa. Since he looks so comfortable and is currently using my lap as a pillow, I leave him be. I take the remote and flip through to the stations. A movie is just coming on and I smile—The Lake House. I actually do like this one. I didn't even think about it when Jai asked me what I liked. It's kind of a science fiction romance set in Chicago of all places and on Valentine's Day. I look down at him and remember how I spent mine—what I thought would be my wedding day turned out to be kind of a date with the man that I'm truly in love with. I'm not settling for Spencer—a man who clearly didn't know what love was. I thank God for how this turned out, that I have the man of my dreams here with me right now.
I watch the movie and I melt into the moment. It's such a sad and wonderful and kind of moving film. Jai stirs a little.
"What are you watching?" he mumbles.
I tell him the movie name.
"Never heard of it," he tells me.
"I'd put this on my top five romance movies," I tell him.
"Really?" he asks waking up a little more. I nod.
"Oh, Christopher Plummer is in this," he mentions as he shows up on the screen.
"Yeah. He was one of my celebrity crushes when I was younger," I laugh. "You know, Sound of Music."
"He died last year," he says softly. I frown at that. "I worked with him a few years back. He was an exceptional actor."
"You did?" I smile. "Maybe I'll have to see that one."
"There are sex scenes in that," he warns.
"Oh, well maybe not," I reply.
There's silence between us for a moment.
"What other celebrities have you had crushes on?" he asks grinning.
"Sean Connery," I admit. He gives me a funny look. "I'm not talking James Bond Connery, more like Indiana Jones. I thought he was sexy."
He purses his lips.
"So you like older men... much older men," he points out.
"I didn't say I would've dated them. They're probably Popi's age. I just said I thought they were attractive in their days," I explain.
"Who else?" he continues.
"You," I admit.
"I mean before we met," he clarifies.
"So do I," I divulge and I know I'm blushing.
He's grinning though.
"Who else?" he persists.
"No one," I say.
"Really?" he asks confused. I nod. "You can't be serious. Most sheilas have a list a kilometer long."
I shrug in response. "I guess I'm not like most other sheilas," I say in an attempted Australian accent.
"That's pretty good," he teases laughing.
I grin in reply and watch the movie for a couple minutes.
"No Brad Pitt?" he asks. I shake my head. "Leonardo DiCaprio?" I shake my head again. "Chris Pratt, Ryan Reynolds, Keanu Reeves, Orlando Bloom, Ryan Gosling?" I shake my head for all of them. "There's got to be others," he says disbelievingly. "Oh, I've got it. Robert Pattinson?"
"Who?" I laugh.
"You know, from the Twilight Series," he says.
"I never saw it," I admit.
"No way, all the sheilas are into those vampire movies," he insists.
"Weren't you in a vampire movie I didn't see?" I tease.
"Frankenstein," he laughs.
"Oh, my bad," I chuckle.
"You seriously don't have a celebrity crush on him?" he asks.
"Which one is he again?" I ask pulling out my phone. I enter in his name and do a search. "Oh, I know who he is. You've got to see this."
I pull up the MTV movie awards clip from years ago. "Okay there's bleeped out swearing but this is hilarious," I say biting my lip. I play it for him and he's practically rolling off the sofa in hysterics.
"I saw him the other day," he admits when he calms down.
"Robert... Pattinson?" I ask slowly reading his name off of my phone since I don't really know who he is. My brothers refer to him as Dirt.
"No, my former co-star," he says.
"Oh," I say in surprise. "How's he?" I ask since I'm not very familiar with him other than some of his movies.
"He didn't look good so I didn't say anything to him. I prayed for him though," he admits.
"Awe, that's so sweet," I grin. I kiss his lips.
"So..." he starts trying not to smile. "Out of all the celebrities you've had crushes on, I'm the only one you'd consider?"
"As long as you knew Jesus," I say softly.
"It does make a difference, doesn't it?" he replies.
I nod.
"Everything feels so different now," he tells me.
"Better?" I ask hopefully.
"Yeah, but... my... lifestyle needs a change," he tells me.
"I'll be there for you," I assure him.
"Alright," he agrees holding my hand.
He watches a little of the movie but then nods off when I run my fingers through his shorter hair, massaging him. I think about what he said and he's aware. God has told him that he needs to change. I really will be there for him. I ask God for guidance for Jai and me and his future. I ask God to show us what we can do and lead the way. I ask for understanding and for God's continued favor. I thank God for Jai and everything he's done for me.
