Peter Parker sat in a chair, looking at the comatosed female in the hospital bed. His class had been informed of the tragedy that their fellow classmate had suffered, and he had made it his personal goal to visit her at least once a week. Sure he didn't personally know her, but he still visited her. Just so she felt as if she was not alone.
The beeps coming from the machines that kept her stabilized were constantly making him have a headache thanks to his enhanced senses but he just ignored it. He still had about another hour to be here next to her. He clenched his fist as he blamed himself for not being friends with her sooner. He was always focused on his pain and getting away that he didn't notice the others around him. He knew that he should make an effort to make more friends, and it was the first thing he will do when she wakes up.
He looked at her dark brown hair that was carefully brushed besides her comatosed form. He really needed to do more for her when she returned to the school. Even if it meant being the one that would provide a shoulder to be cried on. Peter stood up, approaching the female in bed, before he brushed a strand of hair that was on her forehead back to the place it should have been. He weakly smiled as he looked at the female. He knew he had things to do and responsibilities to maintain, so he turned around and began to walk away. He only stopped in front of the door, glancing back at the dark brown haired woman in bed.
"Get well, Jessica..." Was the only thing Peter said as he opened the door and went out of the hospital room. The third week in the hospital was finished, he just had to arrive the next week to see how she was once more. He really hoped she would get well quickly, he really wanted to be her friend.
Time Skip; Seven Months Later
Jessica Campbell, now Jessica Jones, had arrived once more at Midtown High. Her mood was not the same she had before the accident happened. She didn't know why she woke up, but she was happy she did. And although she didn't have her biological family with her any longer, she had been adopted by the Jones family which was a blessing for her.
She made it to the school, her dyed pink hair taking most of the attention. She didn't even want to be there, all she was receiving were pity looks from everyone there and she hated it. She hated how everyone seemed to forget who she was ridiculed before and were now pitying her?! But the sight of a boy who had encaptured her heart made her even more angry.
She could see how Peter Parker was walking towards her. When she wants to be alone he seems to notice her, but when she tries to approach him many times in the past, he is either not there or just runs away! And that look, the look that resembled more about being worried about her, but she could see right through his gaze. He was also pitying her, the person she had hoped that wouldn't pity her.
"Hey... Are you-"
"Why do you even care?!" The entire schod stayed quiet as Jessica's question rang through the entire hallway. She could see how Peter's eyes widened by a tad bit. She could notice the shock they had, as if she wasn't told about something. "You are like the rest of them! Just leave me alone!"
"But, are-"
"I said leave me alone!" Jessica yelled, making Peter stop talking. He got the message, loud and clearly. He just dropped his head before walking away. He couldn't believe that after visiting for almost eight months at the hospital when she was in a coma, this was the treatment that he would receive as payment for trying to do a good deed.
Jessica angrily walked away, ignoring the looks everyone was giving her. She didn't even notice how the looks changed from pity into disgust, but she heard every comment. Every comment that made her even more angrier as she went to the classroom. She had been tempted more times than not to run away from the school and just ditch it for the day, but it had been then that she heard something that made her stop.
"I can't believe that she would act that way with Parker after he went to visit her at the hospital weekly" She robotically glanced at the one who had said those words. She could see how Liz Allan was talking with Eugene Thompson, both of them having a slightly angry look at their faces. "I can understand that Parker is a big nerd, but he doesn't deserve this... She went to far with him"
Jessica stumbled back in shock, tears on her eyes as she couldn't believe in the words that she had heard. He was not pitying her and was actually worried about her? Her heart beated loudly, sadness and relief hitting her at the same time. She was relieved that the one she had been in love with for almost an year now was not like the rest, but she felt saddened by the way she reacted when he tried to talk to her.
"What I have done...?" Jessica muttered to herself as she began to run through the halls trying to find him. She needed to apologize to him for the way she acted. If she missed her chance to actually be with the one that constantly had made her heart soar through the sky, she wouldn't forgive herself. She looked everywhere, noticing the looks of hate she was receiving. She didn't flinch, knowing that she deserved those looks more than everyone.
She looked everywhere. In each classroom, in the faculty room, in the gym... She tried everywhere she could think off until there was only one place left to go. She rushed, her mind solely focused on trying to make things right. She didn't want to leave things as they were.
"Please... Be there" Jessica pleaded as she whispered, hoping to find Peter at the location she was running towards. She opened the door as quick as she could, arriving at the last place she needed to go, only for her eyes to widen in shock at what she was seeing. Peter Parker on a Spider-Man costume with the mask on his hands. "Peter... You're-"
"You can't tell anyone! You don't know what would happen to Aunt May if everyone somehow finds out about my identity" Jessica nodded dumbly, admiring Peter's form. She had known that Spider-Man was fit but seeing him closely, fit was an understatement. And the fact that Peter Parker was Spider-Man made her mind imagine Peter without his shirt, making her blush. "Either way, why are you here? You made it very clear that you didn't want anything to do with me"
"I..." Jessica stumbled on her words. She couldn't even muster the strength to tell him how sorry she felt for even saying those words. She could see how Peter was looking at her expectantly, until he sighed which made her eyes widen a bit in fear. "I'm..." Her throat clamped shut, making her unable to talk a bit. She needed to tell him! Why couldn't she do so?! She just had to say the damned words! "I'm sorry!"
The two people stood there, silence filled the roof of the school as soon as she uttered those words. She had momentaneously closed her eyes, though she opened them slowly seconds later until she saw his eyes filled with a feeling she was very familiar with. A feeling she had hoped for him to look at her for more than a year, with hope.
"It's alright-"
"No it's not! I... I yelled at you, treated you the same way Flash treats you. You didn't deserve that... Not after you visited me weekly at the hospital" Peter widened his eyes at her words. She wanted to make sure that he noticed not only how sorry she felt but also her hidden feelings for him. "You're a great person, Peter. T-Thank you for visiting me"
"You don't have to thank me for something I wanted to do" Jessica's cheeks got a red hue at the smile he gave her. It made her heart skip more beats than she thought possible. She just approached him and immediately hugged him, as a slight tear went down her cheek. They seperated slowly, but Jessica got the chance she always wanted to give Peter a quick peck at his lips. She saw him widen his eyes as she grabbed the mask and put it on his head. "Go save New York, Spider-Man"
"Sure thing, Jessica..." Spider-Man stated, making her smile at him. She watched him swing away, her heart throbbing in fear as she watched him swing away. She wanted to help him, but she knew that she didn't have powers. But then she watched as she was currently levitating over the roof, her eyes in shock at the new discovery. She could now go and help Peter... It was her moment to also do the right thing. So concentrating on what may be her powers, she levitated a bit further before flying in Spider-Man's direction. She was going to help him, no matter what.
Time Skip; Years Later
Jessica smiled as she cradled her baby girl, Jasmine, on her hands. She and Peter immediately became High School sweethearts and partners in their heroic activities. She, thanks to Peter's help, decided on the heroic name of Jewel. Though, at the time, that was a work in progress. Their relationship was seen as the best street-level heroic couple, which inspired her husband to propose to her.
She was sitting next to her husband, who was playing poker with Ben Grimm, Daniel Rand, and James Howlett. She was fully supporting her husband, the connection between the two increasing even further as each day passed. Her daughter babbled a bit, stretching her tiny arms towards the Wolverine, the one she was named after.
"Logan, Jasmine wants you to hold her" Jessica told the mutant with the adamantium claws. She had an ever present smile on her face as she looked towards the mutant. Her stomach had a very familiar roundness to it. She was expecting in three more months, and she and Peter couldn't be more happier.
"Again? I swear to everything that the little brat loves me more than she does her own father" James stated, making Peter hit him softly behind his head as Jessica gave Jasmine to Logan. Jessica Parker chuckled at the interaction her family had with each other. She couldn't be any happier with the life she had. And even if she almost blew it, she managed to find happiness in the one and only man that had conquered her heart ever since they were kids in highschool. She was in love and happily married to Peter Parker, and she wouldn't change that for the world.
