you heard someone knock on your front door as you put earrings on. "coming!" you shouted and left your room. you went to the front door and unlocked the door before pulling it open.
"hey," tae il stood there with a smile on his face, "you look cute."
"and you look handsome," you said and pecked his lips. "let me grab my purse," you said.
"you should bring a jacket, too. it's supposed to get chilly tonight," he said and walked in and closed the door.
"okay."
you went back to your room and opened the doors to your closet. you grabbed a jacket and put it on before closing the doors. you grabbed your purse from the top of your dresser and left your room while putting the strap of your purse over your shoulder.
you walked toward the front door, where tae il was at. "so, what did you want to do today?" you asked him and put on a pair of boots.
he shrugged his shoulders, "not sure. i guess we can make it up as we go," he replied. you zipped the zippers on your boots up and stood up straight. "want to go to the shopping district first?" he asked.
you smiled, "sure."
you two left your house and got into tae il's car. he drove off towards the city. as he drove closer to the city, traffic started to get heavier and soon, you two were stuck in traffic on the highway.
"oh man, why is traffic so bad today?" tae il asked.
"traffic usually isn't this bad, right?" you asked.
"not at this time. maybe there was an accident," he said and looked at you, "i'm sorry, babe."
"don't apologize. it's okay," you said to him. "did you eat yet?" you asked.
"yea," tae il answered and slowly drove the car forward as traffic barely moved. "did you?" he asked you.
"a little bit," you answered.
"maybe we should get off at the next exit and go find some food for you," tae il said.
"we're not too far from the district. we'll be able to get a bite to eat there once we get out of this traffic," you replied. "oh, look, babe. the exit." you pointed to the next exit where construction was going on.
"they've been doing so much construction lately," tae il said and started playing music from his phone, which played on his phone's speakers before switching to his car's speakers. "find something to listen to," he said and handed his phone to you.
you scrolled through his phone and clicked on "highway to heaven." the song started and you and tae il started singing together. as both of you sang, tae il's voice suddenly cracked. both of you looked at each other before bursting out in laughter.
"nice job, mister vocalist," you said to him as the song came to an end. "that was a really bad crack."
"you're supposed to not point out my mistakes," he replied and took a sip of water from a water bottle before slowly driving through traffic. "love like that" by lambc started playing and you started singing again. then, more songs came on in the standstill traffic and both of you sang again. "this mini concert of ours is pretty good," tae il laughed.
you stopped singing and drank some water, "well we do have an amazing vocalist in the car."
"thank you for the compliment, babe," tae il responded.
you deadpanned, "i was talking about me..."
tae il freaked out, "of course! you! you're the best singer ever!" he frantically spoke but you just started laughing again at his expression.
"i'm joking," you said and kissed his cheek.
he calmed down, "right, of course. oh, we're out of traffic," he said and continue driving along the highway. "guess this "stuck in traffic" concert of ours is at its end."
"well, we could drive during rush—"
"you really just want to hear my voice crack again, don't you?" tae il interrupted you.
"of course. how else am i gonna be better than you?" you replied. both of you laughed again as he continued driving into the city so your date could begin.
