I sigh, walking into the gates of school. Immediately I get assaulted by noise, and I wince. Looking over the courtyard, kids were being hit, played with, chatting, and it was so loud compared to what I had gotten used to while I was sick.
I sigh as the bell rings, and I head to class, navigating the worn-out white hallways with occasional splashes of color.
"Alright, settle down, settle down." The professor says as he enters the classroom, dumping a pile of sheets on the desk. "For those of you who missed it, you have a group project."
Fuck.
"I've already assigned you groups considering you have all shown an inability to work well in the groups you chose." The professor continues.
Double fuck.
The teacher sighs. "Dave, can I have a word with you for a second?"
I nod, trying to ignore the pounding in my head and the whisperings of the class behind me.
"I've put you with the..." My teacher winces. "Rowdy.. Kids, so to speak." Adjusting his glasses, he sighs. "Sorry about that."
I internally scream. Walking back in the room, I huff in exasperation before I walk to the back of the classroom.
Gary, Prince, and Oliver. (i am so sorry)
Upon seeing me, they grin, their yellow teeth glinting, and I shudder in apprehension. I take a seat next to them, careful. Gary, the leader of the pack, struts over to me.
"Your house, yeah?" Gary slings an arm around my neck, firmly. My head juts forward, and I just stop it before it reaches the desk. "Ok," He says, without waiting for a response. "Your house this afternoon!" He announces cheerfully. I glare.
"It's better to just go with it.." I hear a voice behind me whisper. I turn around to see Joey, the main 'good force'. "We can fight back later."
I nod slightly, before sighing. This was going to be hell.
I wait behind the school where Gary usually hung out with his rookies. They were already there, and the air was filled with the scent of smoke.
"Hey, look who's here." Oli says, stamping out his cigarette. "You gonna lead us to your house now nerd?"
I scowl, shouldering my bag. "Fuck off..." I murmur under my breath.
"What was that?"
"Alright, alright."
Joey arrives, panting. He waves to me. "'Sup Techno."
I glare. "We're not in that AU today."
Joey's eyes register shock, and suspicion. "Alright."
"Follow me." I start as I narrow my eyes. "Shouldn't be that far." I call over my shoulder as I jog off.
At our house, Prince smiles. "Now this is a house fit for a nerd like you." He jeers at me. I roll my eyes, taking out my keys to unlock the door. On the way over, they had been mocking me and roughhousing, shoving me around a lot.
"Aaaalright.." I finally find the correct key, and I open the door. Before they could rush in, I turn around, holding my hands out. "Some ground rules- Don't break anything, be nice, don't be a jerk, and tell no one who we are and where we live."
Oliver raises an eyebrow at that as Gary and Prince shove past me, and I stagger.
"Oh Techno, you're home!" I hear, and I pale.
"Is that... Philza Minecraft?"
"Dad you could've picked any other time." I hiss back, dropping the false voice as I settle back into my monotone voice. "Any. Other. Time."
"What's up- Oohh.. Fuck." Dad swears as he sees the other people. "Oh shit. Uh- Alright then."
"What's going on?" Wilbur asks, descending down the stairs as well. "Tommy is being loud again, by the way." He says to Dad.
Gary, Oliver and Prince were trying to digest this information. "So if that," Gary points to Phil. "Is your dad.."
"-Not a that..-" I mutter.
"And Wilbur Soot and Tommy Innit are your brothers.." Gary says slowly. He turns to me slowly. "Does that mean you're Technoblade?"
I wince. "I.. uh.. Yes."
Oliver laughs. "Oh, does anyone else know?" He asks, false sweetness dripping from his voice.
"No." I shuffle around on the floor. I hear a glass breaking noise, and I turn to see Prince over one of our cat statues. "What did I say?"
"I tripped!" He protests.
"Mhm yes, because tripping definitely lands you in that position." I deadpan, as I go to the cupboard to get a dustpan and broom. "And also completely unharmed."
Prince laughs. "Yep." As I bend down to sweep up the pieces, he shoves past me again, and my injured shoulder burns. "Sorry, just really clumsy today." He says in a sing-song voice. I scowl as my shoulder re-opens.
Dad joins me in sweeping up the pieces. "Techno, what are they doing here?" He mutters to me as he kneels with me on the floor. "They don't seem like good people... 'Cept maybe Joey."
I sigh. "Group project, teacher put me with them.." I murmur back, getting a plastic bag for the glass shards. "It sucks."
Dad nods, sighing. "Well I'm going to go to my room and hopefully avoid conflict.."
I nod, turning back to the others. Joey was sitting on the couch opposite me-
again.
And trying to convince the others to do work. I roll my eyes, joining them. "You nerds call for me?" I drawl.
Gary, Oliver and Prince were in a hushed discussion, and I bitterly wonder what they're talking about. Gary smiles, beckoning me over.
"So, Technoblade, how do you feel about blackmail?" He asks, snidely. I sigh.
"I feel like it's completely useless and will hold literally nothing over me as I could literally not care less." I respond. "Now can we please get to work?"
An hour later, we still hadn't done anything. I groan, frustrated. Oliver and Prince were locked in a heated debate about canonical characters (I don't know why) and Gary was smoking while Joey and I did all the work.
"Can you not?" I ask Gary, who grinned.
"Look, loser. Just cuz you're Technoblade doesn't mean you get to order us 'round." He says, stamping out his cigarette. "Look, I know I'm a terrible person, but honestly, it's easier to have people do shit for me." Gary slurs, and Prince and Oli look up. "And if blackmail won't work, the' mayb' violence will."
Joey looks up from his computer, suddenly alert, a light in his eyes. "If you lay a hand on Techno the readers will gut you." He warns Gary, closing the laptop.
"Shut up, girl." Gary waves a hand dismissively at Joey. Prince and Oliver tense, an anger at Gary alight.
Joey scowls. "I'm a fucking boy, bitch. I'm genderfluid, can you get that in your brain? G-E-N-D-E-R-F-L-U-I-D."
"Yeah yeah, whatever." Gary says, his gaze focused on me. "Look, bitch, violence is the universal language."
I laugh. "Now you're just quotin' me."
Gary advances. I sigh, resigning myself to getting beat up. I could fight back but the paperwork would be hell.
This would hurt.
Phil's POV
I'm worried for Techno, I think as I flip the page. How was he doing, actually?
Tuning in, I hear laughing from downstairs, and shouting. Listening closer, I can pick up whimpers and a small scream, and the sound of a body being hit.
I narrow my eyes. That isn't playful banter, and my dad sense were going off.
My jacket wriggles as my wings jump around in unease. I hear another scream, and I jump out of bed, determined. That's it.
I descend down the stairs, and my anger boils over. Techno was surround by those idiots, Joey also being kicked on the floor. I listen to what they were saying, but take notice of the fact I can see Techno's shoulder wound re-opening.
I shudder at the various transphobic and lgbtq+ repressing insults being thrown at the man on the floor with cyan hair, and I notice, for once, the small snow white horns that were beginning to emerge from his faded cyan hair. Focusing on Joey's eyes, I can see the colors shifting, shifting and turning, becoming sharper.
I whip out my phone to text Wilbur.
Me:
you love trans people right
The Middle Child:
yes, i literally outlined that after saying that i do not need to be payed money for me to say trans rights because that should be a given
why?
Me:
come downstairs
Wilbur joins me on the stairs, and his eyes cut holes in the idiot's backs. "Well, they're going to die." He hums, adjusting his hair. I tie my shoulder-length hair back in a ponytail, scowling.
"Ahem." I clear my throat. With no response, I sigh. "Boys!" I intone sharply.
They stop hitting my son, who blinks at me from behind his hair.
"Get away from my son."
"Yeah, how about no?" Gary, I think, jokes. I narrow my eyes at him.
"My son," I point to the figure on the ground, who was getting up. "Could easily beat all of you at once unarmed in a fight."
Gary raises an eyebrow. "Rrrreaally?"
"I can, you know." Techno drawls, tying his hair in a ponytail. "I would've, but that would've been impolite.."
"Yeah." I tell him. "Plus, if Dave can't, then Wilbur will gladly kick your ass."
"I will." Warns Wilbur. "Get the fuck out of our house."
Gary and Oliver leave, Prince giving us the bird on the way out. I glare at him.
Techno stumbles, and I move to catch him. "Are you ok?"
"N-Nngh... Shoulder re-opened..." He responds.
Joey, surprisingly, sighs, wiggling his recently sprouted wings of flourishing neon cyan, pink and highlighted colors, almost holographical, yet as he moves they fade into a shadowy metallic grey-purple. "Let me just text my manager, she'll fix that for you." He turns to you. "Hey, MK, I know we aren't really on speaking terms because you betrayed me and all that shit, but I know you don't want to write this scene, so..."
Techno's shoulder heals, the skin creeping over.
