You stop in your tracks, stopping Ririka as well as you take her hand. She's grateful for the mask that manages to hide her blush.
"I..is something wrong, (y/n)?"
"I don't know but something feels off."
You look around the hallway, finding that it was slowly getting less crowded. The more students left, the better you were able to clearly spot one of the demons from a clan different from yours.
"Leave! Before I force you out."
Realizing that he was spotted, he steps out of the shadows with a smirk.
"I'm surprised that you were even able to tell that I was heard. From what I heard, you decided to blend in with the humans."
"I told you to leave. You're not allowed to be here."
"Oh, I'll leave as soon as I'm finished with my mission." He eyes switch to Ririka for the briefest second, letting you know exactly what he was there for. You don't want to risk Ririka getting hurt so you decide to make the first move. He expects it and quickly dodges it. "It seems you're getting a little rusty. I don't blame you. These humans are far too weak. I'm here to help, can't you see that."
He attempts to slice you with his knife but none of them land.
"You've failed to take into account how stronger I am!"
Not wanting for anyone witness what was about to happen, you grab him and rush out of the academy.

You're covered in blood when you make your way inside to the student council room. You figured Ririka would be hiding in case any other demon attempted to kill her.
"You saved my life. Thank you."
"Are you okay? He didn't hurt you?"
"No. I'm fine thanks to you."
You nod and make your way to one of the chairs to rest. You had managed to exhaust yourself with taking care of the other demon.
"Absolutely not. You're covered in blood. Go change and then you can take a seat."
You look to Ririka, hoping she could get her sister to let you stay but she motions for the door to the bathroom. You sigh and head to the bathroom to get rid of the evidence.

"You can't seriously be in love with her, Ririka."
"What? What are you talking about?"
"You're not fooling me. We know everything about each other, there's nothing you can hide from me."
"I seriously don't know what you're talking about Kirari."
Kirari sighs, disappointed that Ririka was going to continue denying her feelings.
"I'm afraid that you've left me no choice. I wasn't going to tell you this but it's in your best interest. I was set to marry (y/n) to form a truce with both the demons and hunters but your bet ruined things. You were never part of the equation so the clan decided the best to deal with this situation is to kill her."
"That's not true. You're lying."
"I wouldn't lie about this. I can see that you're in love. You at least deserve to know the truth."
"She hasn't done anything! She's held up her end of the deal."
"They don't care. They've ordered for her to be killed. As head of the Clan, I'm to lead by example."
Ririka walks up to Kirari, pulling her up from the chair by her coat.
"Tell me that this isn't true. You're not planning on killing her, are you?! She's your friend."
"I must admit that I like the girl but it's been decided. I cannot pick a friend over family. She must die."
Ririka pushes her off and heads inside the bathroom to find that you were gone. You had left out the window.
"She's gone!"
"I'm not surprised. I wouldn't stay if I overhead someone talk about how they were going to kill me.

Ririka searched everywhere for you but you had simply disappeared. She tried your phone but none of her calls were answered nor her texts. All she could hope was that you reappear sometime soon.
"I guess I should give this back to you."
You tell her from behind as you hold out the necklace she had given you to let other know about your status as her pet. Ririka gasps quietly when she looks at the state you were in.
"What happened? Are you okay?"
You look down to find your clothes in a bloody tattered mess. You were focused on rushing to find Ririka that you hadn't realized how you looked.
"I'm fine. You should see the other guys."
"(y/n), this is serious. They're out to kill you. My family is trying to kill you and they won't stop until you're dead. You shouldn't even be here. Kirari's also planning on killing you."
"I'm not surprised. I always knew she was a bitch."
The two of you were far too focused on one another to hear the steps of someone approaching.
"It's not nice to be calling your savior a bitch." Ririka is quick to hide you behind her back. She wasn't just going to stand there as Kirari attempted to kill you. "Relax, I'm not going to kill her."
"You said earlier that you had no choice. That you were going to lead by example."
"Exactly. I'm the leader of the Clan. I'm not going to let the adults think that they can push me around. I stood my ground and told them that things change. That rather for the arrangement between (y/n) and I, you'll take my place. You'll marry to make a truce between hunters and demons."
"Marriage?!
The two of you yell out in unison.
"Don't act so surprised. I've seen how the two of you love each other. I'm simply just speeding up things to save your life, (y/n). You should be grateful."
"Thank you, Kirari."
"Don't thank me. Thank Sayaka. She reminded me that I was going to deal with an upset sister if I killed you."
You rolled your eyes with a smile.
"Right. I'll thank Sayaka then."
She nods and leaves the two of you alone.
"Sayaka had nothing to do with this, right?"
"Not at all. Kirari just blamed it on her so we didn't think she had grown soft."
"I see so what happens now?"
"Well we are to be married soon. The least we should do is have our first kiss and then go on dates."
"I like the sound of that."
Ririka laughs and leans in to kiss you for the very first time.
