Chapter Twenty Four : Fireworks

' So..what do you wanna do? ' you asked finally breaking the silence.

' Wanna go watch the fireworks? ' he turned to face you. Before you could answer, a message notification from Takeda sensei arrived in the karasuno group chat, asking the volleyball team to meet in the gym. 

' Weird..maybe it's something important ' Kageyama said looking up from his phone. You both made your way towards the gym where you found all your team members and a blond girl waiting for you two. 

' Finallyy, you sure were taking your time bakayama. Do you like spending time to Y/n-chan that much? ' Hinata scolded with a hand on his hip. 

' S-shut up! Boke Hinata Boke! ' Kageyama exploded with a slight blush on his face. 

' Cute..' your thought was interrupted by Takeda sensei entering the gym. ' Okay everyone gather around ' he clapped his hands together. 

' We've been invited to Nekoma's training camp in tokyo! The group consists of 4 schools. They are Fukurodani Academy, Nekoma High, Shinzen High and Ubugawa High. It's all thanks to coach Nekoma that we're able to get into the camp. Everyone's going right? ' 

' Hell yeahhh! ' Tanaka and Nishinoya roared along with the other teammates making Daichi annoyed with their noises. 

' I also want to talk about our new manager Hitoka Yachi. She's in class 1-5 so be nice to her alright? '

' H-hi.. ' 

' Welcome Yachi-san ' the whole team bowed making the poor girl squeaked with fear, trembling behind Kiyoko. 

' Also, there are some requirements that'll be needed for you to go to the camp. Most importantly, you'll have to get your parent's permission . And since the final exams are right around the corner, you'll have to pass them. You do remember that right? ' 

As if their souls were drained out, Kageyama, Hinata, Nishinoya and Tanaka looked away. 

' As you've already realised, if you fail any paper you'll have to attend supplementary classes during the weekend. So, you will not be able to join the away games ' 

As soon as the words slipped out of Takeda sensei's mouth, Tanaka and Nishinoya tried to run away only to be caught by Ennoshita. Hinata started freaking out about how he hasn't even gotten a double digit in a test and well..Kageyama..he was barely breathing. Nishinoya and Tanaka ended up praying as if someone just passed away.

The whole gym was in chaos by the four gremlins until Daichi decided to yell ' Stop panicking and let's come up with a plan ' 

After some seconds of thinking, Sugawara turned to you ' Y/n-chan, I heard you were good in your studies. How about you teach Kageyama? ' 

' Oh sure, I don't mind '. 

' Ennoshita take care of Nishinoya and Tanaka. Yachi-san please take care of Hinata ' Sugawara added. 

' Wow..he really is the mom of the team. Must be hard for him taking care of 10 kids..' you laughed slightly.

' S-so I'm in your c-care huh boke? ' Kageyama walked up to you awkwardly, one of his hands on his nape. 

' Yep you are. So you better be prepared, I won't go easy on you blueberry ' you huffed smugly. Kageyama only giggled at you and shook his head.

' Come on, you down for the fireworks right? ' Kageyama smirked walking away. You followed him and found yourself walking towards a vending machine. ' Huh? ' you thought. 

' Here ' he handed your favourite drink. 

' You're being too nice bakayama. Are you even Kageyama? Who are you and where's the real blueberry? ' you joked. He shook his head from disbelief at your joke and laughed a bit. 

' Wait did he just laugh? It sounds nice' you felt happiness bubbled inside you. Even though you couldn't contain the blushes on your cheeks, you grinned back at him. Seeing you, Kageyama's cheeks reddened slightly. He turned his head away immediately to hide it but you caught a glimpse of it. 

You both made your way towards the school's rooftop. The fact that no one else was there besides you two was making your heart pound against your chest so loud that you were scared that it would be heard. 

As you sat down beside Kageyama, a cold breeze passed by making you shiver a bit. 

' Tch..boke. You didn't even bring a coat to keep yourself warm ' he rolled his eyes as he took off his jacket and wrap it around you. 

' It's okay. What about you? ' 

' Tch..I'm fine. I don't want you to get sick. Like it'd be a pain to take care of you, you know ' he blushed a bit and scooted closer to you to protect you from the cold wind. You smiled to yourself as his gesture ' Maybe I do have a chance ' 

Not too long after, the fireworks started and you both enjoyed the beautiful sight. 

' I like you Tobio.. ' you said softly blushing, pretty confident that the booming of the fireworks covered your voice but Kageyama's cheeks turned immediately red as soon as he heard those three words coming out of your mouth. 

Although, he wasn't the type to said those words out aloud to you, he made a promise to himself that he'd show you how he feels.
