Aubrey POV

"Let's fucking go already Carter. Do you seriously need all these textbooks, you realise you only have two days off not a fucking month off?" she huffs watching as I stuff my history, chemistry and calculus book into my bag. 

I reach into my locker to grab my biology book but she just laughs and says "Nope nope nope" reaching into my bag and taking out the calculus book replacing it with the biology book. I look at her confused and she says "You were really going to study history, chemistry and calculus this weekend? Do you want to fucking punish yourself you idiot?" When I still don't respond she sighs flustered and says "If you are going to bring three textbooks I think you can leave calculus at school."

I just laugh and say "Fine" closing my locker.

"You know I'm right babe" she says smirking and walking in front of me obviously intending for me to follow. 

--5 minutes later--

"Hey um do you think you could drop me at the bookstore on that strip because I completely forgot but I actually have a shift today" I say while she pulls out of the carpark.

She laughs and just says "Sure". After a few moments she then says "Oi babe go into the glove compartment for me and get me out a lollipop."

I look at her amused but immediately obey and open up the glove compartment which is filled with a bunch of random things but also a packet of starburst lollipops. I pull out a starburst for her and before I hand it to her I unravel it. I hand it to her and she just opens her mouth with her eyes trained on the road. Getting the hint I place the lollipop in her mouth and she briefly turns to me and smirks with it dangling out of her lips. 

"Get one yourself, just don't take the pink ones ok" she says refocusing her gaze on the road. 

"Thanks" I smile and reach in to grab a purple one. I unravel it then pop it into my mouth. I look over at Riley and see her looking at me with her eyes swirling with a similar expression I see in Ian often and recognise as adoration. When she notices me looking her eyes widen and she turns back to the road readjusting the lollipop in her mouth. 

"So how long you been working at that restaurant?" I question trying to start conversation and twirling the lollipop between my lips.

Riley looks over to me and looks down to the lollipop between my lips "A few months now" she responds turning to look back at the road.

"Oh cool, you know you were right the gnocchi was really nice so thank you!" I smile.

She smiles and says "Yeah thought you'd like it"

"How long you been working at the bookstore?" she asks, looking at me quickly.

"A few weeks I think" I say bringing the lollipop out of my mouth making a pop noise.

She hums in response. Before I can think I blurt out "Ian said I wasn't allowed to talk to you anymore" and regretting how I sounded like a child.

She laughs throwing her head back and says smirking "Well you don't listen huh" 

"Nope" I say popping the 'p' and putting the lollipop back in my mouth. "Because we can just be friends right?" I have to make sure she understands that I won't cheat on Ian and I need Ian to trust me that I am not someone who would cheat, especially when he makes me feel so happy.

"Fucking friends it is then" she sighs and I could tell she bit her tongue from saying anything else.

Ten minutes later of awkward silence she stops outside the bookstore and says "Ok get out" she says with a smirk and I chuckle in response.
