Cleo felt the warm heat of the sun on her skin. The golden rays peered into her room through her translucent curtains. She sat up on her bed and looked around the room. Her friends were gone. She turned to her side and spotted a note on the table. It read

Went to buy stuff for breakfast. Be back soon:)

She smiled a bit at Chris's smiley face and bad hand writing. She sighed as she dragged herself off the bed and walked to the bathroom. She frown at her reflection in the mirror. Her eyes were red and swollen. Her skin looked waxy. She looked and felt very sick. Her stomach growled, making her scowl. She didn't feel like eating or doing anything. Timothai's betrayal hurt her deeply. Her own blood made her life miserable. She sighed heavily before taking a shower and dressing up in a white baggy shirt and blue jeans.

"Cleo, we're back!" Chris announced from downstairs

"You don't have to yell you know" Anida snorted in annoyance.

Cleo shook her head. A small smile appearing on her face as she came downstairs

She met her friends in the kitchen witnessing Chris wince as Anida punched his shoulder hard

"Ow! Anida!"

Anida rolled her eyes " I told you to stop"

"You're no fun" Chris whined, pouting. Cleo chuckled

"Hi guys"

Her friends snapped their heads her direction, finally noticing her presence

"Are you okay now?" Anida asked worried

She smiled sadly "I don't think I'll ever be okay. But I'll try"

Chris walked over to Cleo, squeezing her hand gently

"We're always here for you. We'll get through it. Together"  Chris gave her a smile. Anida held Cleo's other hand, nodding. Cleo  smiled back

"Thanks guys, what would I do without you"

Chris shrugged"Probably nothing"

Cleo elbowed his side, causing him to pout

"Ow! What is it with girls and hitting me? It hurts!" Chris cried

Anida snickered "That'll teach you to shut up"

Chris glared at Anida, sticking out his tongue at her.

Anida ignored him, grinning.

"Who's hungry?" Anida asked

"I am!" Chris screamed, running to the bag of groceries

The girls laughed as they watched Chris gulp down a huge can of soda. He blurped making the girls frown in disgust

"Eww! Chris!"

He took a bite out of his grilled cheese sandwich

"What!"

"You're disgusting" Anida scoffed

Cleo shook her head as she grabbed a napkin and wiped Chris's mouth

"You're such a child, Christian Squires"

"And you're such a mom, Cleopatra Anderson" he teased. Cleo smacked him lightly at the back of his head

"Again with the hitting!" He frowned, rubbing his head

Cleo shook her head again as she continued wiping his mouth

"Stop talking while eating" Cleo
scolded

Chris rolled his eyes
"Yes mom."

Cleo smacked him again. A little harder this time

He glared at her "Really"

Anida was red in the face from laughter. She was wheezing as she laughed harder. She wiped the tears with her finger

"Gosh, that was hilarious"

"Stop laughing. You're red in the face" Cleo said, walking over to Anida and handing her a glass of water

"She's such a mom"

Cleo shot daggers at Chris. He used a bag of chips to shield himself from Cleo's deadly glare.

Chris spotted Anida smirking at him. He mouthed 'Mommy' while pointing at their dark skinned friend
Anida glanced at Cleo then at Chris, chuckling. Cleo was such a mom

After breakfast, the friends stared at their master's note. A grim expression on their faces.

"So what now?"Anida asked

Cleo sighed "We find the sword"

"Are you sure?" Chris asked. It wasn't easy completing the mission of someone who betrayed you

Cleo nodded

"I'm sure. Grandpa may have betrayed us but we still have the city and the world to protect. We can't let Yoshi get his hands on that sword. No matter what. It's our duty"

Anida hummed in agreement. Chris let out air from his mouth

"You guys ready"

They nodded.

Cleo slowly turned the back of the note. Using a pencil, she shaded the back of the note. It revealed a map. A map they guessed was the map of Nigeria.

"Look" Anida said pointing at a state on the map. The symbol of a sword on it.

Chris looked closer at the state. Recognition in his sapphire eyes

"I know that place"

Anida raised her brow

"You do?"

Chris nodded "That's Lagos, the former capital of Nigeria. My cousins live there"

"Really?"

"Yup"

Cleo tapped her chin,thinking

"Chris, can you call your cousins and tell them we're visiting?"

"Sure thing" he replied, taking his phone from his pocket and tapping away on it

Cleo turned to Anida

"We're on summer break right?"

"Yeah"

"Can you get us tickets to Nigeria? I'm pretty sure Yoshi is already on the trail of the sword. We need to hurry"

Anida nodded and grabbing her phone tapping it. Cleo had heard a lot about Nigeria in history class. And it was really intriguing. There were over two hundred and fifty ethnic groups with different languages and dialects. But there are three predominant groups; The Igbo occupying the South; The Hausa occupying the North and the Yoruba occupying the Middle belt.

Nigeria was a country that valued their culture above everything. Cleo always wondered how the major and minor groups got along. It was really interesting how every ethnic group had their own story of origin.

Chris returned a few minutes later with good news. His relatives would be glad to have them. Anida came in informing them the tickets will arrive tomorrow but the trip is in the next two days. She nodded. Nigeria looked like a very interesting place. She was actually excited to see the country fondly known as the giant of Africa.
