" High School Fleet or HaiFuri in its shortened form, is a story about girls with warships and despite what the posters and premise show it isn't solely light- hearted as one would have guessed, with a storyline that will catch first-time viewers by some suprise.

The writers did study up on the designs of real-world WW2-era warships in a significant way, which means that it is, at least decently accurate in terms on detail, as with the unrelated Girls und Panzer.

Although, as with GuP, some of the shenanigans the girls carry out require a certain degree of disbelief, so if you're looking for full-on realism you will not find this to your liking. Otherwise, you will enjoy it, and I know I have. "

" High School Fleet takes us into an alternate timeline where the world's ocean has risen dramatically making the low areas being submerged years later, Japan created created the Blue Mermaid Corps and subsequent schools that allow teenagers to be trained if they wanted to join the force. Additionally, the purpose of the Blue Mermaids was to protect the Sea Lanes that merchant ships use and to conduct search and rescue operations and to resolve any Maritime conflicts before it escalates.

This anime, has gotten my attention to me being highly fascinated and addicted to Naval History and ships. There are two ships in this anime that existed in our world but were sunk during the second world war. I believe this would be the IJN Musashi and the German Pocket Battleship Admiral Graf Spee and the Musaki Akeno and her crew of Misfits in the fictional Destroyer Harekaze  to battle with bigger ships due to the ships beginning to disappear and its crew going berserk and attacking other ships.

The plot mainly focuses on Moe but there were a few Naval History that only Naval Historians like myself would see in anime thrown in the casting is great. The characters are all original and the soundtracks are alright to say the least and the battle scenes were the best especially the last one against the Musashi.

If you are interested in more Moe and some Naval action, HSF is what I can suggest the very least. There are others that contend with the aspect of Naval History such as two other anime."
