Personal opinion Section

@jammatown919

" Houseki No Kuni is such a fun series in the beginning, it's lightheated and interesting with a hint or something darker. When bad things start happening and Phos takes a turn, the series gets super dark and suddenly has these themes of betrayal and these Gems who used to be friends are trying to kill each other. I'm not 100% caught up with the manga, but there's only two issues that I haven't read.

Watching Phos descend into literal madness was such an experience. At the beginning they were this happy child who was trying to be useful, and now they're hellbent on murdering the person who raise them and anyone who stands in their way. It's sad and depressing as all hell but completely captivating. 10/10, good series. "

" Houseki No Kuni/ Land of Lustrous is about the youngest gem on the planet, trying to find their purpose in the world they live in. With no outstanding skill or whatsoever, they try to do their best at the job they have been given after hundreds of years.

The series is beautiful as either an anime or a manga. The art style of the manga fits the story that it's telling. The anime is fully CG too, which fits the characters and the fights that would occur in the future. The characters' looks would mot have been so appealing if the anime was the regular 2D style. I'm a manga reader myself but from what I hear, the soundtracks is amazing and helps with being immersed in the anime.

It has a great story, with a good plot, characters with great development, and absolutely beautiful fight scenes. It's definitely a show that would keep you hooked for a long, long time. "

" Houseki No Kuni is a story about change albeit one with a rather depressing path ( as in the norm of Ichikawa works ). While the story ( most up to date in the manga) is deep and a rollercoaster of emotions, the anime is, in my opinion, well animated, nailing the jackpot with 3D rather than 2D. This is one of the best anime/ manga around, and I highly recommend everyone to watch and read it. Though, a fair warning, It's probably not a suitable show for anyone that prefers s9mething upbeat and cheerful in terms of how the story progresses. "

" Houseki No Kuni is one of the rare anime where I somehow connected with and loved the main character, Phosphophyllite. Everything, from the story, characters, cameraworks, atmosphere, universe and its animation in particular had me captivated from the start to the end, despite its slow beginning. Within the 12 episodes of this anime, the character development undergone by Phos is outstanding and does not feel rushed. The fighting scenes are incredible and the complexity of each Gem's persona was something that I found somewhat intriguing.

The manga picks up right where the anime left off and the whole plot does a 360 and becomes an emotional rollercoaster, having you wonder constantly what will happen to Phos next. Also, the artsyle of the manga looks quite simple at first sight but It's actually very detailed. I was genuinely impressed by the drawing style.

Heh, and just when you think it's gonna end soon, the manga slaps you with a shocking revelation that has you questioning everything what Phos did. Truly, I'd give this anime as well as the manga a solid 9/10. "
