" Through Tsukimi, we get to experience first-hand the fear of "not fitting in." Alone in the bustling streets of Shibuya, Tsukimi tiptoes around the place, flinching every time beautiful people pass by her. She looks around noticing how "Tokyo is full of princesses." There is a longing in her eyes, a sadness in her voice that she herself as yet to acknowledge. Blaming herself for not becoming the princess her mother wanted her to be. But why can't Tsukimi be a princess too? That's simply...Because she doesn't deem herself worthy...yet...However, everything changes when Tsukimi meets Kurannosuke.

What does it mean to be a beautiful in society's eyes? Surely it is not something unattainable...or is it?  When flamboyant Kurannosuke, barges into their life while cross-dressing as a girl, it rattles Tsukimi's world. She cannot properly interact with him as his girl self is what Tsukimi failed to become but she still admires him since he is the " perfect princess " to her. That's when the naive Tsukimi slowly grows out of her shell. Under Kurannosuke's influence, she is forced to re-assess her view on beauty and how mystified her approach of it is. See, given the right person to apply her makeup and dress her up, Tsukimi can shine as brightly too! She is a diamond in the rough!

Princess Jellyfish is one of those nice that despite it's kind of all-over-the-place plot at times, it was  too close to home. It's been a long time since a show has made me this calm, comfortable when watching while making me see the world in another light. Princess Jellyfish was quite entertaining with the opening and ending theme which are very meaningful and its cast of amicable characters. Here, there is no seeing beauty through mystified lenses, it's something that is within reach and can be achieve if wanted. But beauty is not everything in Princess Jellyfish it is merely a step towards change, towards accepting oneself!

Princess Jellyfish is a good anime to watch when you want to relax and have a good time. Apart from the weird romantic subplot that left me confused but with an ending that left me yearning for more, I highly recommend Princess Jellyfish as a hidden gem that is a must to watch. "
