Please, do listen to the song above before or after reading this chapter. Not while reading. 'Gunjou' by YOASOBI was inspired by the manga this chapter is based on. The song perfectly conveys the feels the manga portrays.

Memorable Quotes

" Isn't early morning Shibuya...pretty nice?" ~Yaguchi

"But kids who can't work hard, are those that don't have any passion. " ~ Mrs. Saeki

"Just because I'm doing what I love, doesn't mean it's always going to be fun." ~Yaguchi

Review section(I suppose most of the manga reccomendations will only have one review)

" At the time of writing this, I have only read 2 volumes if the Blue Period manga. I can't really describe how hard this series hit me in only 2 volumes. The way the characters- especially Yaguchi (Yakkun) develops is brought out beautifully. More importantly, the some characters are quite relatable. So much so that when Ms. Saeki told Yakkun how "Art is quite fun. Especially for those you are honest with themselves. It's a language without words" and "But kids who can't work hard, are those that don't have any passion," it hit hard. Really hard. I wanted to cry, was left staring blankly at the screen while making rethink the choices I've made till date.

For example, there are many characters to which I can relate. Whether it is one of Yakkun's friends who is at a lost as to how to decide and what to choose as one's career path or Umori-senpai who draws things that only look real. But the one I relate the most to has to be Yakkun himself. I might not be as determined as him, I might still be struggling as to what to do with my life but I understand Yaguchi. Way too much.

You see, Yaguchi feels empty. Despite being so smart, he doesn't feel anything when being praised for his academic success. However, when he finally tries to draw something and performs well, he feels genuinely proud and happy when praised. There is this sense of fulfilment.

One thing to note about Blue Period is that it perfectly portrays the way one sees the scenery or anything they want to draw. It's like you fall into that scenery, you make one with it, trying to catch every little detail to then reproduce it on paper to express your feelings.

In the end, Blue Period is among the best manga out there. I don't know if I'll catch up soon but I was pleasantly shaken when reading it. I made me think about my future; a lot of things and I still am. Do give Blue Period a try. I ensure you that it's more than worth it. "

Bonus:

An anime adaptation was announced this year, I think. Here's the Japanese trailer:
