After one deadly outbreak and four months of waiting, 18-year-old Em realises nobody is coming. With her university accommodation no longer secure, she must leave everything behind to find safety and decide whether placing her trust in a stranger is a greater threat than facing the Infected alone.
The world is nowhere near what she remembers it to be and she must learn how to fight the beings that are far from human. However, with the numbers of Infected growing, it seems they're not the only threat around. Safety may be a harder destination to reach when details about her new companion begin to arise and there's nowhere to hide from the people he ran from. When his past starts to become more dangerous than the Infected and both their lives are on the line, Em is left with one question; how far will he go to protect it?
Author Bio: AJ Windebank is a twenty-three-year-old writer stumbling through life with a laptop always on hand. 'Who We Were' is her first novel which she started writing in 2017 at university when she was studying for her BSc in Forensic Investigation.
