The Council members moved to attack but Fox held her hand up again, intrigued by you.
You walked towards her. "You can do whatever you want to us."
Fox nodded. "Yes, yes I can."
"But."
The small Council member cocked her head to the side in question.
You love them.
I do.
These people, who despite the horrors they've faced, still find ways to fight back. People who have lost everything but are still yet to be broken.
You are proud of them.
I am.
You felt something buzz through the air and you glanced up, finding Aunt Fuyu now at Fox's side. Shadows crept toward you like snakes. You looked into her eyes. Not just at them, but into them. As if you could see Fuyu's soul.
She took a step back as if she could sense it too.
"I promise that whatever you're planning to do won't work." Fox stepped between you and your aunt, as if sensing that you were having an affect on her. In response, the shadows slinking towards you shrank away, almost like they were suddenly doubting their purpose. "You'd best get back up on your pedestal and watch the show. We'll deal with you later."
You looked at Fox, stared straight into her soul. You shivered as you found nothing but darkness. Something worse than shadows.
And then you looked past her. Brown eyes met your own, several yards away. The man from the prison. The one who clanged on those bars. Who gave you just a bit of hope.
Hope.
The man locked eyes with yours and didn't look away. There was no fear in them. Only resolution. He smiled.
Him, and the others, the people around him. They all seemed to have the same resolution. Then something clicked.
"I said you'd better get back to where you belong, Phantom. Or I'll make the Council give chase to you as well." Fox warned. Fuyu seemed to break out of her trance, the shadows crawling towards you again.
You laughed out loud, not at Fox's threat but at your sudden enlightenment.
"You're all a load of idiots."
The entire Council tensed up.
Fox went very still. "Excuse me?"
You shook your head, wiping tears from your eyes as you continued to laugh. "You heard me..."
"Have you gone mad?" The small Council member asked.
You took a few deep breaths, letting the laughing fits pass. "You... you think that you've got us all in the palm of your hand, huh?"
Fox snapped her fingers and weapons were drawn, ready to strike. "I advise you to say your next few words very carefully."
You would do no such thing.
"You think that because you've murdered us, and tortured us, and separated our families, that we are suddenly weak and helpless?" You laughed again.
"I swear, I'll kill you." Fox cautioned.
You shook your head. "You think that because you hurt us, we will always be quiet and submissive? What a joke."
The small Council member tensed up again. "What are you talking about?"
