CHAPTER 38 | Last Time

Pauline Cynthia Zunino’s Point of View

“What?”

I tried to keep my voice controlled. “You need to leave Bleanriths,” ulit ko sa mas malinaw at mas buong boses.

Napahawak ako sa bracelet ko, my hands trembling badly. I found comfort but it’s not enough to cover all the ache I’m feeling inside.

“I told you I won’t leave until we fix this.”

I shook my head as tears started to fall again. My whole body aches the way my heart aches.

This is really too much for me to handle.

“Can’t you see? We can’t.” My voice trembled.

“Kaya ay paaalisin mo ‘ko? That’s not an option, Pauline!” His voice thundered.

I tried to catch my breath but I can’t, mas nangibabaw pa din ang paninikip at paghaplos ng sakit.

“Please,” I begged, wanting him to understand.

He touched me by my shoulders softly. “I will do anything you want. Just not this.” He whispered; his eyes were bloodshot.

“I already scheduled you a transport back to Earth.

I never wanted to see him hurt. I hate seeing him hurt.

“It’s scheduled tomorrow afternoon. Kasama mo si Raine pabalik.”

He didn’t say anything, so I took the opportunity to speak while I still can.

“I want to forget the bad memories I had in Earth, Warner. I badly want to stop being hurt!”

“Can’t you do that with me by your side? You know that I’ll always be here for you, Pauline. I will help you.”

I shook my head. “Everytime I see you, I remember your father—my father. I can’t forget it if you’ll stay here.”

Pain etched on his face was the most unbearable thing I had to see. Hindi ko kinaya ang ganoong hitsura niya. He was my powerful, rude, and ruthless Warner. He’s not supposed to be hurt by my words!

He should be the strong one.

I was crying in front of him, begging him to leave while he stood with his bloodshot eyes, and pained face.

“Is that what you really want?”

No.

“Yes.”

“Alright,” he finally said. “I’ll leave if that’s what you want.” His voice is marked with finality that made me want to reconsider what I have done.

His hands were cold, a lot different from his usual warm hands, when he touched my chin, making me look up to him.
