CHAPTER 35 | Why?

“Where have you been?” Nanliliit ang mga mata ko habang tinatanong si Cyran.

Nakauwi na kaagad kami sa dorm. Gusto pa ata doon mag-overnight ni Sara pero hindi na ko pumayag. We still have classes tomorrow! And besides, mga lasing na sila; I don’t want to see them doing something they’ll regret tomorrow, lalo na si Sara.

“Nowhere; I’m with you at the party.” He failed to meet my eyes that made me raise my right brow.

I rolled my eyes. “I don’t believe you.”

"Kasama niyo nga ako," ulit pa niya.

"Come on, tell me!" I whined as I follow him around.

"Just sleep, Pauline." I pouted before gripping the hem of his shirt. 

Tinawag niya kong Pauline! Not Pau! He's getting annoyed!

I’m sure he was with us but the moment we stepped inside Kleide’s house, he’s gone. Hinanap ko siya sa living room, garden, pool, at kahit sa mga kwarto sa taas! 

My eyes have seen something I shouldn’t have seen dahil lang hinahanap ko siya! I found Sara making out with the varsity player guy she was talking to! My eyes are already tainted. Ugh.

Pinitik na lang ni Cyran ang noo ko at nagsimulang umakyat na sa kwarto niya. 

I frowned. 

Talagang wala siyang balak sabihin sa’kin kung sa’n siya nagpunta! He’s so annoying! I know he left the party! I know it!

I sighed as I went upstairs to my room. Pumikit ako ng mariin at iniling ang ulo nang maalala ko nanaman ang ginawa kong ka-stupid-an kanina.

Shit shit shit! 

Why did I even let Warner touch me? I should’ve broken his hand or something! Bakit isang hawak lang nagpapakamarupok ulit ako? Gaaaah! This is so annoying.

I feel like I transformed back to being the kid who trusted a human easily. I feel so stupid for letting my feelings win, instead of thinking rationally.  

Nakatulugan ko na ata ang pagka-inis sa sarili. All I can remember was I was staring at the ceiling and reflecting on everything that has happened. I don’t want to remember anything from that amazing father of mine but with his adopted son being here, that can’t be helped.

I saw my friends, including Warner at the dining table, eating breakfast. I can feel Warner’s eyes on mine, but I ignored him and sat beside Saf, far away from him.

Nakasuot na sila ng uniform naming Highest Rankers, at mukhang maayos naman sila kahit lasing na lasing kagabi.

I snorted when I saw Sara holding her head, eyes hazy. Her hair was in a messy bun, and I can clearly see a hickey on her neck. I felt my cheeks flushed when she saw me staring at it.

“Oo na, I’m so stupid.” Irap niya sa’kin.

I tried to stifle my laugh but I can’t. "Wala nga akong sinasabi."

“I shit you not, that alcohol should be illegal,” nakasimangot na sabi ni Xav habang umiinom ng orange juice. 

Kahit si Hera ay mukhang sabog na sabog sa tabi ni Xavier! 

The high-ranked students were all talking about Kleide’s ‘awesome’ party last night. Ang mga hindi invited ay nakikinig sa kwento. Envy was evident on their faces as they try to relate on what the others were saying.
