Chapter 27 | Fathers

Pauline Cynthia Zunino’s Point of View

“It was fun, I enjoyed it.”

Raine immediately went back to Bleanriths to report and check-in while Luke and Warner went to work. Ako napapagod para sa dalawang ‘yon, they should’ve just rest for today but of course, they think work is more important than resting.

Now, I want to rest, too, but these guys wanted to hang out some more.

My ears rung and Cy’s words instantly caught my attention. “Luke and Warner?” I asked; my brows knitted together.

Cyran nodded.

Sara groaned and rolled her eyes. “That’s why he’s asking us weird questions last night!”

We were sitting on a circle facing the bonfire we made near the shore of the ocean.

He filled it with another beer and passed it to Warner by my side who gladly accepted.

Luke laughed. “Saan kayo madalas uminom?”

“We don’t drink in bars, laging sa bahay lang,” Xavier answered.

“Saan nga kayo nakatira?”

“Laguna,” I immediately intervened.

I can’t let my friends say other place’s name. Iyon kasi ang sinabi ko kay Warner nung tinanong n’ya ako and it would be too weird if my friends say a different place; they already know we’re friends since we were a child!

Luke nodded, focused on refilling the shot glass. “Hmm, where in Laguna? I lived there before, baka magkakilala ang families natin.”

My eyes instantly went to Raine. What’s wrong with her boyfriend? Bakit biglang nagtatanong ng ganito ngayon? We are supposed to have fun! And what he’s doing right now is making us nervous instead of fun.

“Somewhere in Calamba,” Cyran answered, his eyes staring directly at Luke.

“Really? I used to go there, too. Anong name ulit ng school niyo?”

Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit!

“Oh shit look it’s a huge wave!”

“The distraction you made is amazing, Sara,” I said as I thought of it now.

“It was amazing but for sure mas lalo na silang magtataka kung pa’no nagkaron ng ganung kalaking wave out of nowhere,” Xavier commented, his brows raised at us.

“At least we dodged the question,” Hera said.

“For now,” I intervened. “We dodged the question for now. Pa’no sa susunod? What if they got us cornered? We’re not like Cyran who can read people’s minds.”
