'The Nazi's are planning to construct a new rail lines from here to here,' Luuk explained as he pointed to various points on the map.

'That means that they are no longer going to carry out transfers from Hooghalen,' Jacobus stroked his chin. 'The trains will be able to arrive directly into the camp.'

Sven cursed under his breath at the realisation.

'We can set the explosives at various points and attempt to delay the construction,' Niels suggested.

'What about the prisoners still being transported from Hooghalen...should we not try and save them?' asked Christopher.

'It would be too risky. We are too few in number,' answered Niels.

'What if we organised a strike amongst the railway workers? Luuk proposed.

'The Dutch conductor and crew are only replaced with a German crew at the border, perhaps we could ambush the train before they switch,' said Christopher.

'And how are we going to convince them?' asked Niels. 'How much do you think the Dutch train officials know what is going to happen to their passengers?'

'The De Nederlandse Spoorwegen must know more than other people, more than us,' Jacobus stated.

'The railway officials know exactly what is going on,' Elek remarked. 'I don't know if they knew earlier. Maybe they didn't want to know.'

'I know someone that may be able to help,' Lotte spoke up. 'He's a retired train driver. His wife steals official stamps and seals from the Nazi official's home where she works as a maid.'

'What about Schmidt?' questioned Sven.

'That's a difficult one. He'll be gone by Monday,' I state. 'The only time he is not heavily surrounded by other officers is when he travels to and from the SD buildings.'

'Do you know what vehicle he drives?' asks Dekker.

'Ja, of course. I see it every day. A black Mercedes 320 Cabriolet B. His driver arrives precisely at nine every morning. Leaves at five. He's staying at the Breitner House.'

'I have an idea,' Dekker places his cigarette in the ash tray. 'We could plant an explosive under the vehicle. It's quick and discreet.'

'I can do it,' I volunteer. 'The Germans are hosting a farewell party for Fehmer this Friday. It'll be dark. He'll be relaxed. It would be the perfect opportunity.'

'Perhaps, not in front of an audience,' Elek suggested hesitantly. 'We all know how well that went last time,' he lowered his voice

My head swung in Elek's direction upon him passing his comment. The feelings of guilt which I pulled to the furthest part of my mind began to resurface.

'I may have made mistakes before, but let me prove myself now.'

'I can do it.' He offered, he spoke as though he had not heard my last sentence.
