A/N: Not much to say right now! I just wanted to dedicate this chapter to 'Little Ghost' by Amber Run. This song is honestly a great gem that I found a few years ago. It's such a precious tune and the lyrics are absolutely beautiful. I hope you have the chance to listen to it. Enjoy reading this chapter everyone! Thank you for all the love and support as always!

*THIS CHAPTER REVEALS A BRIEF SPOILER REGARDING LEVI'S PAST. IF YOU ARE NOT UP TO DATE WITH THAT PART IN THE MANGA/ANIME, I HIGHLY SUGGEST WATCHING/READING IT*

You and Levi were walking ahead of the rest of the group, hearing nothing but the soft mumbles from everyone talking behind the both of you. Levi and yourself were silent for quite some time. Once again, the silence wasn't awkward or unsettling, it was peaceful. Being able to just bask in utter silence and not feeling the need to fill it with long, unnecessary conversation was what you loved most about your relationship with Levi. Still, your thoughts were starting to pour over.
"What will I do once I see him after all this time?" You mentioned in a soft tone, not capable of truly understanding how you should react when the time came to be face to face with your father. Levi glanced over at you; an understanding expression was written across his face.
"You don't need to do anything. What ever you feel in that moment is how you should carry it out. Don't push yourself or feel shitty if you don't react the way you or others would expect you to. You won't know what to do until the time comes." Levi stated confidently to reassure you of your doubts. The anxiousness you felt was overwhelming, but hearing Levi's calming voice inform you that there was nothing to worry about, it truly made you believe that that was the case. You smiled at him, feeling a growing chill rise up in your chest.
"You're right, I just always freak myself out over nothing." You laughed it off, not wanting to think too much into the situation. Levi shook his head, knowing your reaction was justified.
"I know that's what you do because it's natural. I'm just here to tell you that everything will be okay." You smiled, nudging Levi on the shoulder a little to tease him.
"Look who's overly optimistic." You chuckled at your own joke, making Levi smile a bit while he shook his head once again.
"Things are a lot different now and they keep changing as time goes by. I can believe that after so long, we can all finally live in peace." Levi stated, making you mull over more thoughts.
"I honestly can't believe I would be standing here agreeing with you on that. For a really long time, everything around me was so unbelievably destructive. I only knew how to kill, take and think for myself. Now I'm here, finally experiencing what true happiness is, or at least a drop of it." You carried on with your ramblings, feeling a bit embarrassment for saying so much all the time. You eventually let go of the insecurities you felt over the matter and remembered that it was Levi you were talking to. Levi graciously smiled at you, letting down another wall.
"It's nice to see you like this. You get to see your father after all this time and be reunited. I could never ask to see you more happy than that. I only wish it could be like that for others." Levi admitted to you. You happily grinned over at Levi, then frowning a bit once realization had hit you. Your brows were knitted as you began to feel saddened over the reminder.
"You wish that someone was you, right?" You muttered, putting two and two together once you heard Levi's voice become melancholic at the end of his statement. Levi stared at you for a second, letting out a sigh.
"Are your parents still alive?" You asked in a soft and attentive tone of voice, then mentally smacking yourself in the face for asking. I can't believe I just asked that after what he told me. You thought to yourself, feeling even worse. Levi formed a tight lipped smile on his face, almost as if he were about to cry. You took his hand into your's, not minding the potential on-lookers from behind the two of you. Though you felt foolish for asking, Levi didn't seem to mind talking about it in the slightest. You gave him a look that read 'you can tell me anything'.
"I'm not too sure about my father. I never knew him. My mother worked in a brothel in the Underground and she became pregnant with me. She got too sick and eventually died a few years after I was born. I almost died from starvation until the man who ended up raising me came to check up on my mother. After I had told him that she was already dead, he took me in as his own and taught me how to fight and how to be strong." Levi's background shattered your heart. For him to have been alone right from the start, not knowing his father or much of his mother. You thought how lonely he must have been for all that time and even now.
"I later found out that the man who raised me was my mother's older brother. He told me that as he was dying in front of me. I never knew my mother all that much either. I only remember the way she looked after she had died in her bed. Kenny, I will never forget. While even though the things he taught me were inhumane and cruel, it made me the man I am today. I would've died down there if it weren't for Kenny and I'm grateful for him every day." Levi was visibly hurt, reminiscing in his unforgiving past. You realized that he and yourself were a bit far off from the group for them to really see anything.
"I'm sorry, Levi." You stated, stopping in your tracks. Since you had his hand in yours, he was left with no choice but to stop along with you. He looked over, confused. You pulled him into a tight hug. Your arms wrapped loosely around his neck as you stood in silence. He didn't give it a second thought to, in turn, wrap his own arms around you as well. The closeness and comfort of his arms tightening against your waist made you hold him even tighter. You could tell that the mannerisms he was exhibiting was likely because he was tearing up. You smiled against his shoulder, pulling away suddenly. He was indeed crying, a few tear drops had escaped, rolling down his cheeks. You bent down to kiss them away. As cheesy as it was, you got a chuckle out of him. You formed a tight lipped, nervous smile, finding it difficult not to giggle at his reaction.
"Sorry, I couldn't resist it." You revealed, holding onto his hands. You started to hear the low mumbles of your group from a distance once again; however, you wouldn't allow that to stop you. You needed to tell him before it was too late to say it.
"As shitty as everything in our lives was back then, we're still here. You and I have shown each other and taught each other so much in such little time. Whether or not we're completely alone in the world with nowhere to turn to, I know that we'll always have each other, Levi. No matter what happens I will always be by your side." You confidently confessed to Levi, blushing a little. Levi tittered, making you blush even more.
"Shut up." You playfully said, continuing to walk on ahead.
"What? It was cute." Levi replied. You puffed out your cheeks playfully, not saying a word.
"I've never seen you blush like that before." Levi continued to add, making you more embarrassed, but in a good way. You loved that he and you were always honest with each other. He didn't have to say anything further because you knew that what you had told him would stick in his heart forever; ultimately creating a bigger bond between the two of you.
"Thank you, Y/N." Levi stated with a warm smile on his face. You smiled back, of course. It wasn't much longer until all of you reached your father's cottage. The anticipation and stress was killing you, but you knew that it needed to be done.

A/N: ahahaha I hope everyone is doing well. I've kept this in the vault for a while and finished it when I started feeling inspiration a few days ago.
