A month had passed since your last conversation with Levi. It was odd not having the capability of speaking with him, but you would snap yourself out of your thoughts and remind yourself that it wasn't of any importance any longer. Your assignment for the day was to go over testimony and information with Commander Smith about the details relating to Marcus and the organization you were both a part of. You had disclosed to Erwin and Zackley the truth about your stance in the Underground. You revealed a week after your last meeting with Zackley that you and Marcus only knew each other because of that organization. Levi was also in the room at that time when you spoke about the admission, yet he never approached you on the matter.
"It's good that Marcus is so willing to confess to everything." Erwin mentioned, pleased.
"That's thanks to the fact that he was promised he would never return to the Underground. No offense, but the only reason Marcus was even involved with them was to earn enough money to leave. Otherwise he wouldn't have done anything." You explained, lying slightly. Your dark thoughts approached without permission. They taunted you of your past until you shook your head of the intruding memories.
"I realize that. Still, I as the Commander would've instilled his stay regardless of you speaking up." Erwin mentioned while you both went through paperwork.
"Really?" You asked, somewhat in disbelief.
"Very much so. I apologize that it couldn't have been that way for you when we first captured you, but back then we barely knew anything other than the knowledge that this organization is a threat." Erwin stated, making you shift in your seat. You still continued with the conversation.
"No need to apologize, it is what it is. It could be worse, right?" You assured Erwin, wishing that he wouldn't feel so guilty on the matter.
"I suppose. It just reminds me a lot of when I was younger, doing something similar for another soldier who came from the Underground." Erwin mentioned. You picked your head up in immediate realization of who Erwin was speaking about. You chuckled, finding it amusing.
"Was this soldier Levi by chance?" You questioned, smiling at Erwin.
"Ah, so he told you? You must be someone really trustworthy for him to have told you that." Erwin added. You frowned. So Erwin knows how stand-offish Levi is too? You thought to yourself.
"Well, he didn't exactly tell me. I found out while we were in the Underground during our last mission. Armin was talking with some random civilians and he said they knew Levi on a personal level. I just connected the dots. He refuses to tell me anything." You sighed, not wanting to delve too much into the entire memory. Erwin smiled, then sighed as he noticed your uneasiness.
"Give it some time, he just has a hard time opening up to most people. There's a completely separate side to him. One side that he shows the scouts, and then there's the side where he's truly himself." Erwin explained in order to comfort you. You were curious, wanting him to explain further.
"You've seen that side of him?" You asked Erwin, wanting to hear more.
"Yes, but you have as well. There's few people he would deal with when it comes to personal and emotional care. He usually brushes people off and tells them to suck it up. Levi was there with you until you recovered. It was a shock that he even allowed you in his bedroom, let alone being comfortable with you sleeping in his own bed." Erwin explained to you while chuckling a little. You laughed along with him, revealing a slight grin over the conversation.
"I guess you're right." You beamed tenderly, understanding the situation more clearly.
"He cares a lot for you. Just don't push him too far." Erwin warned, looking out for you.
"Don't worry, thank you for that by the way." You were grateful for Erwin disclosure on Levi.
"Anytime, you're a bright young woman who I can see cares for everyone here. It's good to know things about the people we care about most." Erwin smiled at you, revealing that he too knew how much you trusted Levi. You smiled back, blushing slightly at the flattering words Erwin had stated to you so abruptly.

After going over more of the case, Erwin mentioned that he would confirm with Zackley the following morning that they would proceed with the investigation. After everything would be settled, there would be mandatory court dates set whenever Zackley was ready to continue. You spoke with Marcus briefly about the plans and went over the details of his testimony. He was ready and prepared to take the stand. You were confident and positive that he wouldn't let you down. As you walked down the halls of headquarters, you couldn't help but continuously feel bad about trying to make Levi feel guilty in regards to your last discussion. You realized after talking with Erwin that you most likely knew more about Levi than most of the tenured scouts did. You decided to push away your stubbornness and officially apologize.
You knocked at Levi's door, yet there was no answer. Does he know it's me and just isn't answering? You thought to yourself. Instead of bothering him further, you headed over to Hanji's office, hoping she'd know where he was. To your surprise, Levi was with Hanji, most likely talking about the investigation and upcoming court dates.
"My apologies, I should've knocked." You apologized, removing yourself from the room.
"No, that's alright. We weren't speaking of anything that was too private." Hanji reassured you. You allowed yourself in after her reassurance.
"Still, I was rude for barging in without identifying myself first." You spoke, feeling awkward over the intrusion.
"What can I do for you?" Hanji questioned while Levi stood next to her, looking at you blankly. You blinked a few times before processing what Hanji had asked you.
"Oh, well, I actually was coming by to talk with you about any experiments or things I could help you out with." You stated, lying through your teeth. While it was something that intrigued you, your intentions of coming to Hanji's office were simply in regards to Levi. Hanji's face lit up with joy, happy to hear about your interest.
"Great! I could always use more people to work alongside me." Hanji said happily. You smiled at her. Levi soon left Hanji's office while you and Hanji discussed a schedule on when you would come in to work with her. She was ecstatic with your willingness to help her and learn about what she studied in relation to the Titans and other scientific categories.
"Thank you again, Hanji." You relayed before getting ready to depart from her office.
"No, thank you Y/N. This means a lot to me like you'll never know." Hanji thanked you as well. You walked out of her office, closing the door behind you. You leaned against the door and exhaled a great amount of pent-up stress from the intense exuberant personality Hanji had. You loved Hanji's personality but it was quite draining to keep up with at times.
"You really screwed yourself with volunteering yourself to work with her." You heard Levi warn.
"You've been standing out here the entire time, haven't you?" You asked, giving him a coy grin.
"Seemed more entertaining than doing more paperwork." Levi answered you honestly.
"Yeah, well since we're being honest, I didn't come to Hanji's office to talk about working with her." You brought up honestly. Levi was interested in what you had to say.
"Really? Was I in the way of the real question you had?" Levi asked.
"Not really, I guess I was too chicken to admit why I actually came to see her." You mentioned while you and Levi started walking side by side down the hall.
"I see." Levi spoke plainly, practically urging you to confess without even trying all that hard.
"I came to ask her where you were. I knocked at your door but you didn't answer. I assumed you knew it was me, but were just ignoring me. I wanted to see if she knew anything, in hopes that you were somewhere else. When I walked in and discovered I had found you, I had to come up with a backup question." You disclosed honestly, avoiding eye contact. You chuckled to yourself after soon realizing how embarrassing everything you had mentioned sounded.
"That was a shitty backup question. But you were right to chicken out." Levi joked, not meaning what he said at all.
"Asshole." You laughed, understanding his humor.
"What was it you wanted to talk about?" Levi asked. You sighed, readying yourself.
"I wanted to apologize." You admitted. Levi looked at you with acknowledgement, but remained silent in order for you to explain yourself further.
"You were right, it was wrong of me to expect you to disclose anything with me about your past. I shouldn't have alienated you about it." You explained. There was obvious guilt hidden in your tone of voice as you spoke. Levi shook his head.
"No, I should be the one apologizing. You were clearly hurt that I didn't at least say I was also from the Underground. You were right to be upset with me." Levi shocked you with his unexpected change of character on the matter. You frowned, remembering what you said to him.
"Is this about me saying how I didn't want to be alone?" You asked, curious in his sudden switch in mindset.
"Not just that, I figured I was being just as stubborn as you were. You were right when you said it wasn't fair that you shared everything with me and I didn't tell you a damn thing. I acted unfairly and I'm sorry for that." Levi apologized. You widened your eyes at him.
"I still shouldn't have expected that from you. Just because I was ready to tell the world about me being from the Underground doesn't mean I should expect anyone else to act the same. Even still, there's so much you don't know about me or what I experienced down there. I don't want to push you too far either, so whether you tell me down the road or never tell me at all, I won't pressure you. It's your life and your memories after all, I should've respected that." You told Levi. He revealed a small smile.
"I appreciate that." Levi sighed immensely, thankful for your kind, understanding words.
"Of course." You playfully nudged him on the arm.
