A/N: I just wanted to say again that I appreciate all the love and support! You all are so amazing and I'm grateful to be surrounded with such wonderful people that enjoy this story so much. I'm dedicating the song 'Anchor' by Novo Amor to this chapter. If you'd like to listen to it while you read, it's at the top of the chapter. It's actually a very special song I've held dear for a while. Once again, you may also feel free to head over to my Spotify to check out all the songs in my "Sunlight" playlist that I mentioned in the last chapter. If you can't find the playlist, message me either on here, or on my Instagram: lynxprism so I can send you a proper link to the playlist. Hope you're all safe and are doing well! Enjoy the chapter everyone!!

*THERE IS A BRIEF MENTION OF SUICIDAL THOUGHTS TOWARDS THE END OF THE CHAPTER*

The following morning, you found yourself laying right up against the side of Levi. Your head was laying against his chest as he warmly held your backside with one of his arms. His other arm was also protectively wrapped over you, with that hand resting on your arm. You smiled happily and widely; unable to keep down the butterflies. The excitement coming from you had nearly caused Levi to wake up. He smiled as soon as he saw you. It was still rather early for the both of you to get ready for the day. You yawned, still pushing yourself to get up. You knew that continuing to lay in Levi's arms would only cause you to fall asleep again. With the two of you staying up most of the night, talking and... other things, you were exhausted. Remembering what had happened just a few hours prior caused your cheeks to dust themselves with a rosy shade. You hid your face from Levi once you heard him getting up from your bed. You weren't sure why you felt the need to be so shy, but in the back of your mind you had put two and two together. It was the fact that you were a newcomer to all that had happened. You knew Levi was as well, but you just couldn't stop yourself from being an embarrassed disaster.
"Are you alright?" Levi asked with an uneasy tone in his voice. You turned, confused by the sound. You quickly nodded.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Great, actually." You were honest, still feeling the heat on your cheeks. You looked away, but you could hear the faint sound of Levi releasing a pent up sigh. He was clearly worried, needing to know for sure that you were comfortable. He needed to hear that reassurance right from your mouth. Levi kissed your cheek lovingly.
"I'm going to head back to my room to prepare everything for later." Levi stated, heading towards your door to leave. You nodded, unable to find your voice to respond. Levi chuckled.
"I'll see you soon, Y/N. All of us will be right there with you today." Levi added, closing the bedroom door once he was finished speaking. You continued to stand in the same spot for a few minutes. Your body and your mind were at war with each other. It wasn't an anxious or uncertain feeling, but it was definitely different. You embraced the adoration for Levi that you were experiencing. You had adored him for quite some time, but this time was incompatible to everything prior. It was candid; harmless. As cliché as it may have sounded, you knew there was no concern of getting your heart broken or ending up alone. You and Levi had spent a huge portion of your lives alone. Though, both of you had grown up in the same place, you still went down different paths. Despite the choices in taking those paths, you both still found each other in the end. Your credence was off the wall. You knew that no matter what happened in the coming hours, there were people by your side to console and protect you. Mikasa, Eren, Sasha, Hanji, Erwin, your father, and most importantly, Levi. Maybe there would even be more people to add along the way. You weren't scared of the unknown, you were exhilarated to find out what was to come because you were aware of all the selfless, wonderful people surrounding you.

After you finished getting ready, your uniform fitting smoothly, someone knocked at your door. You assumed it was Levi when you went to answer, but it wasn't. You were overcome with emotion, once you saw that it was your father. Although he and yourself had spoken about many separate things the evening before, you couldn't help but get teary-eyed again. You didn't expect yourself to ever get used to the idea of having your father around after all that time, however, you were happy that you had him back in your life. At the very least, things seemed almost too good to be true. You weren't about to let your inner demons take hold of you.
"Dad." You spoke, allowing him entry into your room. He entered, smiling at you proudly. You chuckled nervously.
"What?" You asked softly. Your father shook his head for a moment, wanting to dismiss your worry.
"I'm just so proud of you. After everything you went through, you're still so strong." Your father stated, gratifyingly.
"I struggled, but I still made it here." You responded, nearly crying. Your journey was incredibly difficult, but you were also proud of yourself too in a way. It took so much courage and strength to keep on living, that most days you were so close to ending your life.
"Things became very bleak. It almost became too much to bare at many points, but I'm glad I stayed. There's many reasons I'm proud of myself for staying alive." You revealed a mild smile.
"Would part of those reasons be that man?" Your father asked, saying so with a gentle tone in his voice. He must have known something from the start. You thought to yourself. You looked down at the floorboards, smiling pleasantly, gently biting your bottom lip out of slight embarrassment.
"Partially, yes." You answered honestly. You thought more for a moment.
"He means a lot to me, father." You continued, smiling joyously at the simple thought of Levi.
"What's his name?" Your father was curious to know. His need for involvement with you was refreshing. You let out an eager titter before answering.
"Levi Ackerman." As soon as you stated his last name, your father's easygoing expression turned to astonishment. You weren't sure if that was good or bad.
"What is it?" You asked, anxious to hear what he had to say.
"Is he related to a Kenny Ackerman?" Your father questioned. You thought for a second before shrugging your shoulders. You recalled what Levi had told you the day prior on the walk over to your father's cottage, but you didn't think all that much of it. You knew that Kenny did the same things that you had done just to stay alive down there. It befuddled you to see your father react so oddly over his memory about Kenny.
"He mentioned that name briefly, why?" You continued, hoping that your father wouldn't use that as a means to distrust Levi.
"Kenny Ackerman was an assassin in the Underground. When you were still fairly young, he was teaching a child his ways of killing until he ultimately left him on his own to fend for himself. I only ever heard stories. I never met the man or that child, but the way it was described was like a scary story." Once your father was finished explaining, you were mulling over the things Levi had mentioned. You knew that Levi was indeed that child.
"I don't want to go into too much detail since it is Levi's business, but you're correct. He is that child. He and I have told each other many things about each other and that was one of the things he had told me." You replied with honesty. Your father nodded.
"I just want you to be careful." Your father's comment had made you laugh suddenly.
"Levi would never hurt me, father, he's a good man. He's even saved me several times since I've known him." Your rebuttal made your father smile from ear to ear. He was glad to hear such reassurance from you.
"That makes me happy. I suppose he had to have turned out this way with him being a soldier in the Survey Corps and all." Your father then continued to reassure himself on the matter. You nodded, approvingly.
"Even though I've spent many years worrying about you, I will continue to do so no matter what. We've lost so much already and I don't know what I would do if I lost my daughter too. Not a day goes by where I don't miss your mother and brother." Your father's eyes started to become glossy, filled with misery.
"I know, I think about them all the time. I wish they could be here with us, seeing everything we accomplished and the people we became despite what we went through." You stated, letting cold tears fall down from your face. Your father pulled you in for a tight hug. The warmth from him was something you only remember from many years ago. You never thought you would ever get to be held like this by him ever again.
"Y/N?" You heard Levi's voice from the doorway. You and you father released each other as you stepped to the side to look at Levi.
"Hi, I'm okay; we were just reminiscing." You mentioned, smiling at Levi. He nodded in response, letting go of his previous concern.
"No worries, I came by to let you know that everyone is ready for us." Levi spoke, seeming to be in a hurry.
"You mean they're all-" You started to speak, stopping abruptly as soon as you saw Levi nod.
"Are you ready?" Levi asked. You knew what he had meant when he said it.
"We're going to speak with Xavier, aren't we?" You debriefed. Your father looked over you suddenly, then at Levi.
"I know you mentioned that you had Xavier in your custody, but I didn't know you were allowed to talk with him." Your father was concerned, speaking mainly of you.
"I've spoken with him a few times now. It was me that got him to talk about you after all. I was the only one who could've done it. He turned it into a game, but in the end, he gave it up." You attempted to be reassuring towards your father once more, but it didn't work well.
"I know-" You started to speak, when Levi had abruptly interjected.
"Y/N isn't weak, sir. She's one of the strongest people I know. There's nothing you need to worry about. She's more than capable of defending herself and everyone in the Survey Corps would never let anything happen to her. You have my word on that." Levi stated with a stern voice. You smiled, raising your eyebrows at Levi's words. Your father tittered.
"I like him," Your father declared, looking over at you. "You're very protective of my daughter, aren't you?" Your father asked, looking directly at Levi.
"I am." Levi answered quickly, making you a bit emotional.

A/N: Aaaaahhhh!!! Things are about to get so emotional! Like 100000x's more emotional... but in a good way. So don't worry! Just get the tissues ready if you cry easily! I swear I'm not trying to torture anyone :) :) :) I will have the next chapter likely updated tomorrow, so stay tuned. Stay safe y'all!!! <3333333
