This is the first time I'm ever delving into writing f/f, so bear with me.

The Lioness of Maetrine

The heavens had parted in hail for your birthday, the clouds had parted, but all that fell was crimson drops of tears; falling for dread over a day meant for celebration for the common people.

The assassination of this accord and grandness hadn't happened since the ascension to the old King Tyndarus - your father - 23 years prior to your conception. And now, you had been almost taken out with an attempt on your life; to end the thousand-year dynasty that had ruled over Ereon since the creation of the first man.

Your name was the most powerful and well-known in all the lands, the prosperous Queen-to-be to rule in turn after her twenty-and-two years of living, was almost brutally killed in front of the people; a crossbow narrowly missing the nape of your neck.

You stared out from the balcony of the Maetrine Keep, the parted clouds had left nothing more than rain to pour over the capital for the entirety of the afternoon; and not a soul was found outside because of it.

There was talk of an assassin on the hunt, and your royal guards were hunting them down to extinction.

"My Lady Queen," You had been dressed dowery, as if attending and mourning for your own funeral, dressed in darker garbs; a high-neck dress with long sleeves and beaded gems threaded into the bosom to resemble diamond teardrops, "they found the assassin. She had been thrown into the Iron Cells until your order for what we shall do with her."

Your closest knight and commander of the royal guard, Ser Ergoth of Silverhelm, a 6′6 orc hailing from the north-west side of Ereon, was your personal and favourite protector. He had been sworn t protect you ever since you had been old enough to wander the Keep alone.

"Ser Ergoth, tell me if you had been nearly assassinated, would you of had the bravery to face the killer in the eye and sentence them to their death?" Your voice was low, hauntingly low, your eyes trained to the ground in thought.

"Aye, your Grace, I would've." Ser Ergoth's voice was rich in a deep timbre. "Not just for my own bravery, but for the honour, it would bring for sending a man to their death, either by my sword or from another."

"It brings me grief to stand here with my life on the line every day, and not since my father's passing, has there not been attempts and talks of murdering me." There was a brittleness to your voice: and when you raised your eyes finally, there was more than just fury.

"I am the Lioness of Alivilliers, Queen of Ereon and ruler from the Maetrine Keep. Daughter of the Grey Lion and I will not stand down to those who attempt to kill me."

"You are just like your father, my Queen." Ergoth smiled, his large tusks chiselled down but they were still long enough to prod out from his lips. "Braver than any lion of Alivilliers."

You gathered yourself just enough to keep your composure, the light dauntingly reflecting from the outside clouds and lack of sunlight still provided enough light to come through your balcony and into your chambers. "Escort me across to the iron cells, Ser. It will give me time to provide some clarity."

"At once, my Queen." Ser Ergoth escorted you out from your bedroom, your two other guards: a tiefling and Dragonborn standing just as tall and burly as Ergoth bowed as they trailed behind the two of you.

You were escorted out through the courtyard, the pride of your family and their legacy stood proudly on polls as banners, guards in the colours and holding the sigil of your house; a white lion on a field of gold, showing their teeth and claws to their enemies.
